Why is my dr making such a big deal about this?

They tested my A1c as part of my general prenatal labs that I got done in my first trimester. They never told me that they were going to test it, I just noticed it on the test results. The lab did ask if I had been fasting and I hadn't. But they also had a bunch of trouble with several blood draws from kids going before me, so I waited in the lab for like two hours before they took my blood. That's probably the only reason it was as low as it was.

Because of my family history of diabetes I skipped the 1hr test and went right to the 3hr during my first pregnancy.

@newlypregnantlady: Your A1C tells you in general how your blood sugar has been over the last three months. Fasting or having several hours between meals that day would have no effect on it.
