I voted for Bernie, but of the viable choices, her views still most closely reflect mine. With Donald Trump as the other candidate, no way in hell would I vote third party this year. Too risky. I do know some republicans who will be voting third party, though. Again, because Donald.

Pretty much all of the above except for "she's a woman." I voted for Bernie in the primaries. She's not my first choice for first female president (I'd much rather see Elizabeth Warren become president!). She's been involved in some scandals and I don't fully trust her, but she's head and shoulders above Trump IMO. I also think a lot of the criticism surrounding her is amplified because she's a woman. And I agree with her on a majority of issues.

I am a democrat and I will vote practically anyone in office over a registered republican. And her views most closely align with mine. I think she subjected to a lot of scrutiny and criticism purely because she's a woman. I did vote for Bernie in the primary because I like his ideas. But I will vote democrat, regardless.

Honestly, republicans scare the crap out of me. There is so much hate and mysogyny under the guise of "smaller government" or religious beliefs. Meanwhile, republicans have their fare share of increasing government with military involvement and stupid bathroom bills, and religion has no place in this country's government. When I see republicans, all I see is hate and bigotry and it makes me scared and sad for this country.

Mostly what @lawbee11: said. She's not my favorite at all. But if she wins the nomination I'll vote for her ass the other option is much worse. I agree with her policies far more than trumps, even if I don't really trust her.

Dh says he cannot vote for her. He also can't vote for trump so he isn't sure what he will do. I've told him I'll be really disappointed in him if he doesn't vote at all in this election. We are both registered as independent (in MA you can vote in either primary that way).

I would not vote for her just because she is a woman, but one silver lining is that my girls would grow up knowing that a woman could be president. Not my first choice but it is pretty cool I guess.

I chose to vote against the repuican party. I'm not a fan of Clinton but she is an educated politician and some of her dealings worry me a lot and I think she's a dishonest person but Trump is so much less informed and to me more scary and somehow even more dishonest.
I don't like how there's only ever two choices in this country and republicans campaigning on people's predjudice as family values and folklore instead of established science as some kind of weird populism has made them an absolute no go for me. I hope Trump is a wake up call, I agree with many republican philosophies but their social and scientific stances are abhorrent.

@Foodnerd81: D is really torn. He doesn't want to vote for Clinton. We're in a swing-state, so if it looks close I think he'll suck it up and vote for her, but otherwise I think he'll vote for Jill Stein.

@Truth Bombs: So for clarity, I should have said republican politicians. But yes. Saying "I hate bigotry" isn't exactly a hate statement.

I'm a lifelong Democrat, and I voted "other" because I think she is the least worst option this election cycle. I would strongly prefer a more trustworthy candidate, but at least her finger on the red button doesn't put the world's safety at risk.

@Truth Bombs: I disagree. From my perspective, that's what it seems like. If republicans want to stop giving that impression, they should stop voting for people who introduce anti-gay and anti-women legislation. Or, not make the head of their party a renowned bigoted, woman hating, wall-proposing guy.

@Truth Bombs: A lot of the Republicans that I know and are active on social media do tend to spew a lot of hate and bigotry, but I know that that isn't true of ALL Republicans. I didn't see her statement as a hate statement. Personally, I feel like Tea Party politics have ruined the good reputation of the GOP, but I think that most of us, including @ShootingStar, recognize that not all members of the party are bigots, just like I would hope that everyone wouldn't look at liberals and think we are just a bunch of hippies who want everything for free.

@avivoca: I would say that @ShootingStar: in fact does not recognize that not all members of the party are bigots. If she does, she should have chosen her words more carefully. I have plenty of friends who are democrats and have very differing political views from me, and we can respectfully engage in intelligent conversation without spewing insults. Apparently that is not possible for everyone.

@avivoca: I agree with you, but I have been surprised this year by the amount of bigotry this campaign has brought out---sexist, anti-glbt, anti immigration (not even just illegal immigration), anti-everything-that-isn't-Christian. Since a huge portion of my family is republican, and I was raised by two very staunch, religious republicans, I used to be the first in line to say, 'But not ALL republicans are like that!"

And this election has proved to me that I was wrong about a lot of people I was defending. The number of extremely xenophobic and racist people that are in the Republican party is much, much higher than I realized before. The rallying cry now seems to be that they like people who "aren't politically correct", which signals to me that they prefer a time period when they could be as openly racist and sexist as they want.

@Truth Bombs: I think a lot of people have had rough personal experiences with republican politics. Where I went to college republicans had prevented access to Plan B within basically an hour drive of campus. When my friend was raped by an ex boyfriend and seeing what she had to go through to prevent a pregnancy was terrible. it really turned my feelings to these are uninformed hate based campaigns that aren't doing anything to promote family values.
And the same kind of talk continues with anti gay, anti environment, anti immigrant, anti science, anti planned parent hood. There are zero social benefits to these campaigns. They are solely to prey on people's fears and predjudice. And Trump is the culmination of what's been going on for decades.

I'd prefer Bernie, but between Trump and Hillary, I have to vote #AnyoneButTrump

@youboots: I hope that you will vote this year. I hope that everyone votes. My state is in a bad situation with our governor because 2/3 of registered voters didn't vote due to not liking either candidate. I'd hate to see the same happen to the entire nation.

I'll vote for her because I think she's smart, articulate and has loads of experience and my views most closely align with hers. Bernie's too, so I'd vote for him if he were the nominee.

Not all Republicans are bigots. Most of the ones that I know vote that way because they are fiscally conservative like @Truth Bombs:. I think the ones that are hateful have the loudest voices, at least that's the way it seems on social media.

I will vote for Hillary because I could never ever vote for Trump. I wish the Democratic nominee was going to be someone else. I would prefer Bernie.

I voted for HRC in the primary this year and she was my candidate 8 years ago too (although I fully got behind BO after it was clear he was going to be the nominee).

I am voting her because she will be an excellent president. I agree with socially on every issue. I think she is too hawkish on military intervention, but I agree with her for the most part on her fiscal and diplomatic policies. I think she is a veritable wealth of political acumen accrued over thirty in the spotlight. She is brilliant. She is a fighter. She has endured more personal scrutiny (fashion choices, cheating husband, hairstyle, her voice, her weight) than almost anyone on the national stage today and she is resilient. Some people criticize her for being untrustworthy or dishonest, but I disagree. I think she knows how to play the game and is a mature politician. She has experience. She is perhaps the most overqualified person for the job we will ever see. She is a lawyer and lawyers know things about laws. She was a tireless SoS who represented us so well internationally. I think she really cares about making this a better country and a better world.

And then there's the woman card. I do care that she is a woman. I want a woman to be president. I think she will fight for issues that concern women and children and families. I am not voting for her solely because she is woman. I am voting for her because she will be an excellent president who also happens to have a vagina.
