I'm thinking about it. I doubt my DH will but maybe I should tell him more about the process and how important it is. I know he said he would not vote for Trump for President so maybe he needs to figure out who he will vote for and support that person instead of Trump.
Have you ever participated in them in the past?
If I go, this will be my first.

I have always participated in primaries. The state in which we now live has a public caucus and I'll be attending.

Yes! Never cared about primaries but this one has me interested. Voting for Sanders. I know other people who are taking time to go too, like my mom, just to keep trump out if possible.

Yes, I always vote in the primaries. I live in a state where my vote isn't really necessary on Election Day (although I usually vote anyway, just because).

I plan to! It's 15 days after my due date in my state so that might make things a little tricky, but I always try and vote in all elections.

Definitely. I'm in a Super Tuesday state and I believe in voting, though I have no idea who will get my vote this year. This year's elections are making me feel like I'm an alternate universe or something.

I will on Super Tuesday, but haven't decided which side I will vote on- registered independent so I can vote in either republican or democrat. I feel like this election is turning into voting AGAINST your least favorite instead of for your favorite.

@mediagirl: I don't think my DH ever voted before the last presidential election. (When we stood in line together and voted for opposite candidates, thereby canceling our votes out anyway). He just doesn't bother. But we live in the same state as @catlady: anyway where it's always going to go democrat.

@mediagirl: I don't know if he know the importance of this primary/caucus and I don't think he knows who he wants to vote for. I do know that he does not want Trump. He even said he would 'throw his vote away' if Trump was the republican candidate. I think I need to tell him that participating in the primary could be one step in preventing Trump from reaching that far.

@mediagirl: My husband doesn't vote. Mostly because he's lazy. But also because I don't think he cares that much about it. I don't think he thinks we'll see much of a difference in our lives one way or another (and I bet if we did, he'd finally start voting!!!!).

@mediagirl: i agree and I vote in every major election. He's just lazy and thinks it won't matter. But if I push him he does vote. He updated his address so he can vote on Super Tuesday on the last possible day after I reminded him five times.

In addition to the presidential candidates there will also be local elections and ballot issues.
I think the only time I've skipped an election was a local election that only had uncontested seats and liquor licenses.

@mediagirl: Because it's very easy to get disillusioned with the process and come to believe that your vote doesn't matter. I've spent much of my adult life around politics (my husband works for the US Senate and I used to be in the political universe myself before it got too much for me), and even I sometimes entertain the idea of not going to vote because more and more I feel like my vote is irrelevant. I can easily see why someone who isn't even as close to it as I am would not care.

@yin: I thought you have to declare a party to vote in the respective primary/caucus.
As a republican, you can't vote in the democrat caucus and as a democrat, you can't vote in the republican primary.

@bluestriped bee: It totally depends on your state and the type of primary they are holding. Some states allow you to vote for either party, regardless of your own affiliation.

Probably. But our state is one of the last to go and I think it's usually decided by then. If the D race is already decided, I might vote for whatever moderate R is left in the race.
I do think it's important to vote even if you won't change the outcome. Look at how much buzz Kasich is getting after coming in second. If all those people had decided they shouldn't vote because it wouldn't change anything, we wouldn't have the same dialogue.

I'm thinking about it. I haven't gotten any info on where/when it is. The local Dems have a page that helps me find my precinct, but I can't find any info on where to go. Luckily, a friend of mine is apparently the VP of our district, so I guess I can ask her if I need to!

@Mrs.Someone: Does your town have a website with the information? Ours lists where all the voting locations are for each ward and then has a section to figure out which ward you're in. Hope you can figure it out!
