Has anyone else thought about going to the women's march in DC the day after the inauguration? DH and I have decided to do it. I've been feeling this week like I need to *do* something, not just post on Facebook. When DH asked if I'd like to go I jumped at the idea. I don't know if this will ultimately change anything. But I'm tired of feeling powerless against the growing hate in this country.
So, anyone else?

I hadn't heard of it but I am definitely interested. I wish I still lived close, but I think if I could swing it I will go. I am tired of feeling voiceless and I need to do something!

No, but I'm doing a sister march at our state capitol on that day. Just easier logistically for me to do a 2-hour drive vs flight + hotel. Wish I could be in DC, though!

My husband's best friend is flying from LA with some girlfriends to attend! Makes me feel kind of lazy being on the east coast and not going, but I would love to attend one closer to home

@Madison43: not awful at all. I considered going but it means a flight plus a long drive since I'd stay with my mom in southern Pa and I'm worried that the city will be filled with Trump supporters and insufficient security. I'll do our local March that day though.

I'm going! I might only be in DC for 36 hours, working on logistics but I want to be there. Hadn't thought too much about the potential for violence (just decided yesterday to go) but as of now I'm planning to bring my DD too.

I want to go but it's bad timing for me in terms of work. 
I'm coming back from mat leave at the beginning of December and I won't have any time to take off at that point.

I'm thinking about it! Have to check with my husband and see if I can convince him to go and take the girls, or if he wants to stay and I go solo with some girl friends.

It'd cost about $2100 in airfare and hotels bc I'd go with DH and LO, sooooo I will be planning on going to whatever is happening locally.

Too close to my due date in early February for me to travel, otherwise I would definitely go! We have lots of friends and family in DC so it'd be easy to go, but lo1 was 3 weeks early so I won't risk it

@Madison43: I worry about violence too. In general I get nervous now in big crowds that I couldn't get out of quickly. So no, I won't go, but I'm glad it's happening.

@agold: I'm not so concerned about violence against women, specifically. More that I would expect that DC is going to be a powder keg of emotion that weekend, and given the hateful rhetoric and instances of violence that we have seen since the election I would not at all be surprised to see violence during a protest that is supposed to be peaceful.

Now that I'm seriously looking into this, I sure wish they would have picked a weekend other than inauguration weekend---because so many hotels are already booked or the prices are sky high. The weekend before, or the weekend after would have been sooo much better. Especially the weekend before being MLK day.

My good friend from high school is the organizer of this march. I'm so excited it has gotten so big, and presumably will grow much larger! I wish I could go but I won't be around. It will be amazing I'm sure.
