Workout Motivation - Jan. 4th

@farawayyama: You know visualizing that square dissolving doesn't motivate me to workout...it motivates me to drink 1. But that's a great low cal idea. As for the Before/After pics- try it. You might surprise yourself. Everytime my BEFORE picture clothes come out of the wash, I take a new picture. So pretty much once a week now. MFP has a place you can keep your progress pics (on private). I want to delete them off my phone but then where would I keep them?!

As for motivation for the day... I have been keeping up over the weekend! Hooray! I did a double workout. The old me would have skipped my workout because I knew I would go hiking in the afternoon but this time, I did my regular consistent workout first thing in the morning plus did the second one. We ended up not hiking and instead doing some homemade workouts outdoors, taking turns copying each other's moves. It's fun to workout with a partner. I haven't done that for awhile. I think I should do that once a week...or maybe recruit LO.

@JennyG: OMG your meal plan JPG cracks me up lol. That's what I feel, I want to eat 13 donuts by the end of the day and 13 chocolate bars. I earned it dang it lol

@mrskc: welcome and I am so glad we are going to be all pushing each other! For gym... how long do you stay at the gym and what do you do at the gym? Do you sweat every time and do you work with a trainer? I read somewhere that we have to work out AT LEAST 30 minutes, 3 times a week, and the only way you can lose weight is doing cardio exercise, as in anything that makes you sweat and heart rate goes up. Then on top of that you have to eat right in order to see anything. I was (am) doing 21 day fix religiously every day for 30 minutes (5 out of 7 days have cardio exercises in it), but I didn't start off with following the meal plan (except cutting soda, tea, coffee, alcohol), and my weight never went down. My muffin top and tummy did shrink though. Then I started really logging my calories (for me + my weight I have to stick to 1200 cal a day) and I avoid carbs whenever I can. Now I even avoid any oil whatsoever (in order to have space to fit 1-2 chocolates lol), I couldn't diet over the weekends (even though I tried, just too much temptations), and after all that effort, my weight did go down, not a lot, maybe 3-5 pounds. If I am good and maintain on the 1200 calorie diet I can see the weight continue to go down but very unfortunately I often eat over the limit on Saturdays and Sundays so it comes back up. Sigh!

OK enough of rambling. Over the weekend my husband "lovingly" bought treats from a Korean bakery, they are these japanese red bean cakes called taiyaki, when DS and I were at a birthday party. I cheered and shoved one into my mouth immediately, and then realized oh crap I wonder how many calories it is. I searched online and it says 208 calories. Argh! (Then, eating a hearty korean meal Saturday night and Chinese hot pot Sunday night did not help matters either. sob sob) So Sunday and Monday I ate 2 each, I got 500 calories for just eating these tiny tiny super delicious things. I got mad at him afterwards and he ate the remaining (5 of them) that same night. Haha. I am not sure how I feel about myself becoming a diet freak.....

@808love: Good job on sticking to the routine over the weekends!!!! Did you stick to it for the diet too?

@irene: lol, same priorities- chocolate before oil! yes, I did awesome on Saturday -popcorn and oatmeal were my snacks. Ok on Sunday. I find if I can choose healthy snacks and stay away from restaurants, I make pretty good meal choices. I am also learning to share something with LO as my snack brings my calories way down. (I won't mention the absolute yummy indulgence I had-split 3 ways with LO and DH). So learning to not to eat the whole thing whenever possible. I'm trying to stay around 1250 calories for my size.

Does anyone else want to share any ah-ha moments? Is anyone else noticing parts of their workout are becoming easier? I can do a side hip plank lift thingee (don't know the name) that I could never do before!! Excited about that!

@808love: Oooo.... popcorn.... how much can you eat? a yellow container? hahaha I love popcorn, but I can't do it without butter! uhh.....

Actually I still haven't exactly been following the containers.... I have a fitbit so I just log the food I eat when I eat them. I love how they have a preset of how much calorie each food has per the size you ate. And I can scan the bar code of products that has a bar code, and it automatically pulls up the nutritional facts and calorie count to add in! I find that counting numbers actually is more motivating for me than eating out of tiny containers. It gives me an idea in the middle of the day how many calories I still have for dinner and if I can fit in a piece of chocolate haha. And can you imagine 1 tbs of extra virgin olive oil = 120 calories?!? However I am sure I was eating 1200 in my mind but eating 1300 in reality! Ah it's still better than nothing

And you guys should be so proud of me.... I finally broke open that protein powder I have (not shakeology but I googled and it was recommended as a "cheaper" replacement, not too much cheaper in reality) and started drinking it each morning. Today is the 2nd day! I hope it shows a bit of results in a few weeks! (well, if I don't eat 50 donuts on sunday that is)

As for aha moment... I am not sure but sometimes I feel it is getting harder instead of easier haha. I wake up and work out first thing in the morning at 6:15am, but these days I've been going to bed 1am ish, so I was always very tired and I hope that's the reason why it feels harder. I need to get more sleep in! One thing though, I was not even able to do push ups at all when I started, but now I could do maybe 10-15 before I drop onto my knees and continue! I hope it continues to progress. I also wasn't able to do 60 seconds of plank when I started but now it is all possible!

I really want to move up to a different work out (eg. 21 day extreme, H&C), but I also am afraid that I couldn't keep up. I watched a bit of the preview video of H&C, and oh boy, how many gears do they have?! I saw a stepping thing and resistance band seems to be a must buy then. I could have been mistaken. But it just sets me back on thinking about trying....!

@808love: @irene: I don't count popcorn - although I do eat the 99% fat free kind - not full of butter - I eat a whole bag and don't track it - it has lots of fiber!!

As for an ah-ha moment - last night I increased my weights - I used 20lbs for dead lifts and squats - it was only 8 reps but super excited that I did it!! I still suck at push ups though!

@irene: you don't need cardio per say but you do need to increase your heart rate - there isn't much cardio with H&C but my heart rate does goes up by using heavy weights. As for the protein shakes use them mid-morning or mid-afternoon when you want a snack - I find it most filling then - also try adding in fruit (banana) or chia seeds (fiber)

    Down 2 lbs! woo-hoo!

@Mamaof2: I am looking at this popcorn

    http://www.orville.com/healthy-microwave-popcorn-smartpop

100 calories in 6 cups? Dang I am getting my hands on it!! Do they come with chocolate flavor? haha
Any other great ideas on snacking? For shakes, if I drink a shake (120 calories, as in 1 scoop powder and I add half a banana) in the morning, do I drink another one as an afternoon snack? Or that's too much?

Yes you are right, the key is to raise that heart rate! Cardio is the easiest to do that though, one time I look at my fitbit my heart rate was borderline 170! Does H&C really have a lot of gear that you have to buy extra?

  10. Mamaof2

    squash / 13208 posts

    @irene: yes smartpop!

As for how often to drink a protein shake - not sure really- I only drink them once a day

For H&C you need weights and a resistance band and then either an exercise ball or a workout bench.

There are modifiers if you don't have a chin-up bar (resistance band) or a bench (use the floor or use a ball).

    We had 5lb weights and then I bought 10's, 15's and 20's.
I actually prefer lifting weights over cardio - I had been going to the gym for a year and doing 30 mins cardio and 30 mins weights and hated it.

@808love: thank you! yea, I've given up on tracking calories this week to see how it goes. Good job on keeping up with your workouts! Oh and I did take some before pictures back in July when I started at the gym. lol I don't like to look at them because I don't think I look much different. But maybe I need to take some new ones to compare.

@irene: I workout minimum 3 days a week at the gym for at least 1 hour. I take the classes and those kick my butt so I'm always heavily sweating. I have an ankle injury that is healing so it is limiting me to cycling class and a weight lifting class. Cycling is HARD! And the weight lifting class gets my heart rate up.

I've kinda stopped tracking calories for this week. I don't want to become too obsessed. I just want a lifestyle change and I don't want to have to track every last calorie the rest of my life.

Man 1200 calories would be impossible for me. MFP gives be a little over 1500 but I'm 5'9".

As far as snacks go. I love to snack on beef jerkey. I get the snack packs from Costco. 90 calories per pack and it's got 14 grams of protein. String cheese is another good one. 80 calories per string cheese. I also got a big bag of edamame from Costco this week. It's got little steam packs in it. Each bag is 140 calories and 12 grams of protein.

@Mamaof2: You are a trooper... in fact all of you are so strong! 20 lbs! my set of "heavy weight" is 8lbs each and it is already making me sweat and want to give up! *blush* I thought about getting 10 lbs but I hesitated.

@mrskc: Your work out is very good! And I hope your ankle recovers very soon! I am 5'4" and I was following the 21 day fix calorie intake suggestion, and they gave me 1200. I HATE 1200 calories with all my heart. It is so unnatural to eat a few leaves for lunch and another few leaves at night. It took me many, many weeks to even warm up to the idea of watching what I eat and dieting. I hate the idea of dieting / starving... just that I don't see big results with just working out and cutting sugar/soda/juices alone, so I slowly make changes toward 1200 calories one step at a time... and I do see a bigger difference. Just no 6 (or any kind of) packs, ever! Do people who have 6 packs really starve themselves, I wonder?!

I was just reading an article that most people (when counting calories like I do) underestimate the amount of calorie intake by 30%. So if I think I was eating 1200 it is very likely I have been eating 1560 @ day. Argh. I think it is probably right! Just a bit discouraged. Then it said counting calories increase stress, which makes it harder to shed weight.

Not to mention tonight I failed again.... our fridge broke last week and the new fridge just got delivered on Sunday so we didn't buy a lot of groceries. Husband said he'd bring dinner tonight when he gets home from work. I was starving so I asked him to order some super delicious seafood pasta from this amazing Italian restaurant.... and of course I overate and I also ate some bread. Then he made fresh squeezed blood orange juice. Argh ! I probably ate 800 calories for dinner alone I am so sick of this. I wish I can finally come up with a method that I don't have to watch like a hawk on my diet, yet I still gracefully eat just enough.

@irene: I starting lifting weights a year ago at the gym - I actually feel like I should be able to lift more by now but I cant - give it time - don't rush into heavier weights or you will hurt yourself!

How about making a small change - limiting portion sizes. So go ahead and eat the seafood pasta but measure out 1 cup and when its gone its gone - eat a big salad or veggies on the side to complete the meal.

1200 calories is low - I think 1500 is more realistic especially when you are exercising and burning more calories than normal.

I was reading about intermittent fasting yesterday - sounds interesting - you eat all your calories in 8 hrs and then eat nothing for 16hrs - premise was when people eat all day your body doesn't have time to use the fat stores so you don't lose weight. Not sure I could only eat for 8 hrs but I could probably do 8am-6pm so 10 hrs. IDK.... might try it!

    pomelo / 5866 posts

@Mamaof2: I'm interested in intermittent fasting as well. Please let me know how it goes. I like your timeslot.

I'm supposedly sticking to 1250 but MFP allots more calories if I exercise. I am actually supposed to do 1400 but I adjusted some things because I was thinking I would underestimate the program's counting. Anyway, I don't think it really helps that much. If anything, it makes me eat a big dinner (because I GET to) if I'm under calories by afternoon. I like it more for the diary part. I targeted my weak spots which was snack time.

Didn't work out yesterday so I'm getting back on track today....I hope. I'm not missing more than a day even if I have to workout at 8:30 at night. I feel really great about being flexible. Weekend mornings and weekday nights have been working for me.

@irene: It's ok. It happens. Just focus one step at a time. Be patient with yourself and just don't fall off completely. It will get better.

@Mamaof2: @808love: Thank you so much for your reply and I really apologize for being so negative all the time! I regretted writing that post... I seem to always be whining about dieting! I need to stay positive and do whatever I can.

I was especially upset last night because of the guilt. I ended up jogging on my own (in the living room) for half an hour to make up a total burn of 1900+ calories / 10000 steps a day because of the guilt. The whole thing just becomes so miserable. The whole reason why I was adamant to watch my diet to 1200 (as suggested by 21 day fix) was because when husband was traveling for work for 2 weeks, I was very good and pretty much see a really nice flat belly, and everything was progressing. Then husband came back with treats and eating out and relaxing and I am seeing myself bulging again. So it does seem like if I don't stick to 1200, it rebounds, which doesn't make sense because I am burning 1700-1800 calories a day (fitbit said)! I thought at some point I could at least eat 1400 and not gain weight. But it doesn't seem like it is true for me. I hate it to be feeling miserable.

I don't know if it happens to you guys too but when I was starving by the end of the day and my mind is all just thinking about food and calories...etc., it makes me a worse mother because I am not fully present with my DS! And I get cranky and impatient with him. I hate that and honestly, I'd rather just eat normal and be nice and present with my son. Argh.

Sorry, just going through some internal conflicts with this.

Do you guys drink diet soda, like Coke Zero? I used to drink a can of regular coke a day in the afternoon (and maintain an OK figure WITHOUT working out - but I had to walk a lot back then) when I was younger, and I didn't need to snack because I was filled up by the coke. I wonder if I could / should even look at that so I don't feel the need of snacking. I definitely need to get me some popcorn this weekend. haha.

@808love: I will - I did it yesterday and it was fine and I actually slept REALLY well - maybe it was a coincidence though!

This morning both of my kids told me I looked skinny That made my day!

@irene: that's what we're here for! If you need to get out your frustrations feel free

As far as being hungry at the end of the day - do you mean dinner or night time? I usually eat dinner as soon as I can when I get home even if it means eating something different than my kids - I also get very grumpy when I am hungry.

As for soda - I have been trying to cut back for about a year now - like you I used it to fill my belly. Instead I drink carbonated water (I got a soda stream) and I find that I am craving the carbonation and not so much the soda. Although since I started this plan on Jan 4th I did have 2 sodas, 1 diet coke and 1 diet root beer. From what I have read the reason you should cut out diet soda is because the fake sugar actually makes your body crave sugar even more and regular soda has too much sugar - so they suggests you remove both from your diet. Again, this could be something you slowly work on. If you usually drink 1 a day try doing every other day or 1/2 each day.

Yesterday was my rest day so no work out for me. Sunday I will weigh myself and take my measurements and pictures to see how the past 30 days have gone.

    @Mamaof2:

I mean the time between afternoon snack and dinner time. In fact, maybe the idea of diet doesn't work for me... the thought of me being "constrained" make me want to overeat. I would have naturally controlled my proportions but when I know and consciously limit myself then I just splurge at the end of the day. And then my brain kept thinking about that snicker mini sitting downstairs the entire night, which I normally wouldn't if I don't think about dieting.... sigh.

Thank you for the information about diet soda and fake sugar!! OK I will stay off of it then. I wonder if those "reduced sugar" oatmeal are using fake sugar too, because they are just so sweet! It is a bummer because they taste so good. I actually don't miss the coke or any soda at all. I just wonder if I somehow don't feel hungry between lunch and dinner it would work better for me. I have no problem kicking soda completely

And I bought the legendary popcorn I will try it over the weekdays. Husband was threatening they taste like crap. He said he tried some from his work but it tasted like crap and he threw it away and he could have brought it home for me. haha. But I honestly think it is probably OK because my problem is I want to shove something into my mouth and I want large quantities. It is a mental void.

My another go to snack is the FiberOne 90 calories brownies and cookies and what not.

@irene: LOL! I don't anticipate wearing a bikini again ever! I will stay with my sexy 1 piece miracle suit, thank you very much.

I am moving toward less processed foods, more organic or whole foods. So I think of it as a health change, rather than a diet change. To stay healthy, I work out and eat good foods almost all of the time. I love my health so I need to be proactive take care of it. It doesn't take care of itself anymore and my mommy isn't feeding me anymore either. With that said, I have to get back on track today...even with this cold. After a month of houseguests, I'm ready to get back into my groove again!

@irene: @808love: yeah no bikini for me either!

I didn't get a chance to take pictures but I weighed myself yesterday at day 30 and am down 2.6lbs and 1.2 inch off my hips, 1in off my chest and 1 in off my waist

Pretty happy with that! Although I feel like I look the same!

The past what 3 or 4 days I have been doing the intermittent fasting at night and when I wake up my belly is sooooo flat!!! That's nice

I had 2 roasted peeps last night - they were so yummy! I wasn't going to but then I figured what the heck!

I def don't think I could live the rest of my life w/o treats so I am trying to keep them in my diet but just make sure its in small doses!

Here's to the next 30 days

@Mamaof2: thanks for the update. I accidentally tried intermittent fasting the other day (late breakfast and early dinner) and I was fine but I don't think I could do it everyday unless I moved my day around my workout. I'm just happy that I'm now squeezing it in. You inspired me to try it once in awhile!

My big accomplishments are losing one to two inches on my waist, keeping a food and exercise diary consistently for 22 days, better sleep, getting DH on the health conscious wagon and helping LO understand that health is a priority. I also limited my sugar intake another notch and now working on the salt. I used to come home and eat a pound of pistachios within a 24 hour period but I bought unsalted yesterday and only ate a quarter cup.

So cheers! Here's to February and the rest of 2016!

@Mamaof2: Congrats on all of those "losses!!!" Now you can go celebrate with a drink or two.... hehe just kidding !

@808love: @Mamaof2: Oh come on, I am sure by the time summer comes you ladies will be so fit you will change your mind on the bikini. haha! After LO I (sadly) went into the one-piece-land too, but going back to the bikini is my motivation to work so hard!

I actually watched about the intermittent fasting on this show called "My Diet Is Better Than Yours" briefly I think it is the same thing. So you only eat 8 hours in a day and the rest of the time you don't eat, is that correct? I can try to stay off of eating after dinner but I don't think I can survive without eating in the morning! OR maybe I could, it is all mental.

You guys, I am like the sample of "what not to do" here so you guys will feel better about yourselves. It was DS's birthday this weekend. So I had a nice tapas dinner on Saturday night (overeat, sigh. I don't know what's with me). Then Sunday we had a very very nice luncheon which I ordered ahi tuna salad. All is great right, until my husband ordered mimosas for all of us grown ups. Then of course you have to chuck down the delicious mimosas (wow, I haven't drank in ages...). And I bought mini red velvet cupcakes from this place called Sprinkles. Bite size little things which I didn't eat the frosting. Then I googled Sprinkles mini red velvet cupcakes calories online afterwards, and the first thing I got was these health conscious/diet websites bashing on the calories that specific shop carried.... something like 158 in that tiny tiny piece! If you order a full red velvet cupcake it would have been a whopping 497 calories! Yikes. So that was that. At night we went to hibachi. I drank water, ate the salad with a sauce filled with sugar and creamyness and some of that MSG soup. Then I had scallops and veggies and 2 bites of the rice. Thank God that hibachi food is never too good to motivate you to eat more than you should. Then I had birthday cake at night afterwards. On top of that, I didn't work out yesterday. Oh my Lord. I wasn't even hungry the entire day eating only those two meals. It was too depressing to even attempt to log my calories haha.

Side story: I was watching the ladies next to me at the hibachi table and I was amazed the things they ordered: First the lady had a martini. Then they order something like a dragon roll, which they finished. Then they asked for extra rice, and extra sauce. Given they did take a lot of it home, but I was just thinking, wow. That is really amazing. And they are not overweight or anything, they have normal / curvy bodies! Ahh. I miss having a drink at mealtime, and not having to think about or watch what I eat.

One thing funny I realized: Since I 've been so consciously watching the 1200 calories I get filled up very quickly. I was getting hungry when i go into the hibachi restaurant, but I was already full after eating that salad! Either that salad was 600 calories (which is possible) or my stomach has gotten smaller.

I also realize one thing: I really do tend to over eat when I've been starving right before. Say in the afternoon I had all these ideas of what to eat at dinner time and how many calories it will be and there will be no carbs...etc., then 4pm comes and I became so hungry, and I already ate my afternoon snack at 3pm. I'd remain starving until 5:30pm then I threw all of my rules out of the window, and I ate and ate and ate. I wonder if I can somehow fit a 2nd snack in. I think that may actually help me control myself from overeating.

Well, now that after reading what you ladies wrote I adjusted it a bit, so as long as I have a few hundred calories deficit that day, regardless if it is 250 or 500, I am good. It takes off a bit of stress so I am glad! I have to remind myself that I am not in a hurry for a bikini competition (haha) and I can slowly lose weight. I don't need a drastic 600-700 calorie deficit a day. We'll see what happens. Thank you so much!

So let's see what this week brings! I can't wait to try out that popcorn this afternoon (but I am actually not hungry... I should have just skipped lunch and go straight to that popcorn lol)

Keep up with the good work ladies!!!

@irene: yes its suppose to be "no eating for 16 hours" but I cant do it that long - I don't eat from 6:30/7pm-8:30 - I don't count coffee as food though - so I get to work at 8 and have coffee then breakfast at 8:30.

I rarely eat out - besides the cost factor I know I would gorge and eat a crap ton of calories!

@Mamaof2: Interesting. Maybe I can do that occasionally too. I eat dinner very early with LO anyway (at 6, and I finish at 6:30). I can usually stay off of food for the entire night, and I have no problem to not eat anything and have my breakfast shake at 8:30am. What is the benefit in doing that again? And water doesn't count as food right?

@irene: The premise I read was that we don't give our bodies enough time to burn off the stored fat in our bodies because we are constantly eating all day and night. So after many hours of not eating your body will tap into the stored fat and burn that off instead of food you just ate 20 mins ago

So it's been about a week since anyone has posted and I was looking to see who's still motivated? I'm feeling super pumped! 7 weeks pp and I told myself it was time to get back on the treadmill. I started my couch to 5k app over and plan to sign up for a 5k in the near future. I'm also doing arm workouts everyday since that's my trouble zone, it's like they're not even porportionate with the rest of my body lol. Turns out I'm super weak 😔 oh well that's why I'm working out. 😊

@Mamaof2: I am avoiding restaurants for this very reason.
@Jackiedavis87: LOL about the ad! Well, I'm not so motivated in the food department. Almost fell off the wagon after I came home from the Superbowl party huge! Good thing it was just bloating and I'm feeling like a champ.
I did sneak a look at the scale I buried in my backyard playhouse and .....it didn't move. Wahhhhh!! That was the main reason I was ready to fall off and jump in front of the wagon. I didn't even food journal for 2 days straight- gasp!
But I tell you...if I could just ignore that and my SuperBloat day I am actually coming along pretty well as far as my clothes look. Everything fits great now instead of ready for the donation pile. I keep asking DH- am I just imagining this- but he confirms I do not have reverse anorexia (my made up word for perceiving yourself thinner than you actually are).
So slow and steady is working for me. I also did Hammer and Chisel ( a short 35 minute one) and it was fine. The awesome part is LO did the whole thing with me!! She used 2 lb weights as her 'heavy' weights and remote controls for her 'light' weights. I her so much! She makes getting healthier with a daily exercise routine all worth it!

@808love: that is sooooo cute about your LO! I had already forgot the super bowl just happened lol. I was a home-body so no crazy snacking. Reverse anorexia HA! I totally have that till I see a pic of myself 😔. As far as the scale I'm trying to stay away from it and focus on my before pics, I'm going to tAke them once a week!

@Jackiedavis87: I guess being a homebody has its advantages. Now that you mention it, avoiding pictures would actually make me even skinnier (in my head)! Great idea....J/k! I'm so glad you are doing before/after pics. This is the first time I'm ever doing them and I'm so surprised it shows.

@Jackiedavis87: I'm still here =) Wow 7w pp and you are exercising - go you!!

@808love: my almost 5 yr old loves working out with me - its so cute!

I am doing pretty good - my period is about to start and I usually crave chocolate but this time it was carbs so I had a bagel with cream cheese - it was so good! Havent had bread in weeks!! This is week 6 for me and I have stayed on track with my workouts and about 98% with food - that bagel is the other 2%

    How is everyone doing?

This is the last week of my 8 week program and I am slipping! ha

I am still exercising but my food choices are going downhill - especially on the weekends - its easier to eat healthy at work because I can only eat what I packed!

Once this program is over I need to figure out what to do. Its been HARD working out 6 days a week. I think I will try 4-5 days/week for a month and see how my body reacts - I don't want to lose the progress I made but would love to reduce the days (DH travels a lot and so when he is gone its hard to get in my workout)

Working on water intake, as usual - I know I don't drink enough!

@Mamaof2: Haha! I just read my last post 11 days ago and I finally got my bagel with cream cheese yesterday! Actually I got it for LO and helped her eat it. Only 1/4 of it, so pretty good control.
I am not too good. I stopped food journaling for the past two weeks. I wanted to start back again, but just didn't. I have a house full of great, healthy foods again. And I started eating (and wanting to) salad again after many many months of not. I definitely am stalling though so I have to get back on it. Maybe we could start writing here again regularly.....?? It really helped last months.

@808love: I found some double protein bread so I eat that in the AM with either PB or avocado and 2 eggs - So I get some carbs but added protein too! (better than eating a bagel a few times a week which I was doing!)

I have been stressed and I eat when stressed so I think that is a big part of my problem - however, I weighed myself and didn't gain any weight and I am back on track now so that's good!

The weather has been wacky too - cold then warm - then bitter cold - so I think that is messing with my body too!

@Mamaof2: I like that menu idea. Sounds like a great way to get a lot of protein.

    How is everyone doing?

I am still working out every day for 30 minutes, but now I tend to slip on the weekends. I have a fitbit, so I make sure I walk and/or burn the same amount of calories on the days that I don't work out!

After weeks of working out and watching my diet and thanks to the suggestions here and eating and snacking right, I actually like how my body looks and I am OK with my weight (I am now consistently 5+ lbs lighter than when I started. I wouldn't mind if it goes down by 5 more lbs but I am OK right now). So instead of killing myself, I am giving myself a bit of wiggle room for eating. I used to maintain a 500 cal deficit @ day, I am now keeping it to 250 cal deficit. I hope I am counting the calories right! But worse come to worse I would still be keeping my existing weight so it is OK. If one day I happen to eat more I'd jog in my living room. I think having my fitbit really helps because if I see I have reached my limit at night I'd stop that urge of eating another nectarine or snack SO that has been working out great.

Last saturday was the only day that I seemed to literally ate more than I burn by maybe 200 calories. I ate out so I was too lazy to count the calories. I went to dim sum mid morning, then sushi at night. I already was careful and ordered only sashimi appertizer and no rice anywhere. I shared edamame with my son. After I got home and do the calorie count, I googled online and realized dim sum is crazy high calories.... the worst was sweet egg tarts (my favorite) and it was 245 cals @ one egg tart, and I ate 1.5! I probably ate 800 calories in the morning (brunch) and 800 calories at night (I googled and calculated and sashimi appertizer, just 9 pieces of fish with no rice, was probably 400 cal on its own!), not to mention in the afternoon I ate the leftover from dim sum with LO. So the whole day went to drain.

Work out wise I was getting bored with 21 day fix. I still haven't figured out what to buy yet to replace it. I am getting tired of the instructor kept saying 21 days and you'll get the body you want, because I've done it for more than 21 days, more like 21 weeks lol. A friend told me to get piyo and some dance dvd also by beach body. I'll see. I am a bit afraid of hammer and chisel as I don't think I can keep up!

It is such hard work maintaining it. What about you guys?
