I have a scheduld C Section for this delivery. I'm blonde and have light eye lashes, so no mascara really makes a huge difference in how I look.
Would it be crazy to wear make up? I mean, I'll wake up in the morning and shower and get ready and go to the hospital to have my c section. It's not like its going to require a ton of work of me like labor.

I had an unplanned c-section and looked like hell in the first few pictures (30 hours of labor will do that to you!), but that was indicative of the experience so I don't really mind! However, my OB said after the fact that his patients who have planned c-sections often do come in all done up! So if you do put some effort into your looks, you aren't alone:-).

I don't wear makeup. But I feel like I was told at preop to wear nothing. No lotions, perfume etc.

I would! I didn't have a c-section but I put on a full face of make up while in labor...twice, haha. I also did for my scheduled induction.

@MamaG: that is something I didn't even think about! good point! I would still do my eye brows! lol! I use a tinted gel because they are seriously so light and unruly that that ALONE makes a huge difference. I could live without the rest.

oh yes i would! but ended up having a vbac instead of my scheduled repeat c-section so i didn't!

I wore makeup...nothing crazy but my normal day makeup. I also wore my contacts even though they told me not to

Lots of women don't wear makeup in general, but if that's you're thing and it makes you feel good, then totally do it! I definitely would - no smokey eye or anything lol. Just a nice fresh look!

I did! I wasn't crazy dolled up or anything, but I had on some minimal make up and fixed my hair. I think that's one of the perks of a scheduled c-section!

I did! Why not? I mean, not a ton of makeup, but enough to look nice in pictures. I considered it one of the perks of a planned c-section.

@ChiCalGoBee: my first section came after 57 hours. I looked awful. I hate seeing the photos from immediately after because I look so so terrible. Even though DD was in therm and so new and cute, I just looked like a garbage truck. I hate that I feel that way, but it is what it is.
For my RCS I went in with a blow out and a touch of makeup.
I talked with my doc about it beforehand because the preop paperwork said no makeup. She said they just wanted a clean face so that they could see changes to my skin color in case of emergency. She said what i normally wear was totally fine. I ended up wearing bb cream, mascara, and eyebrow pencil.
... And our first pics with #2 are so much better.

@BabyPenguinXO: I definitely curled my eyelashes and put on mascara with my planned c section and I didn't have any problems with anything.

I did, and looked fine (other than being puffy). They didn't say anything about not wearing it, so I figured it was fine - and it was. As for hair, they make you wear a cap thing, so no one can see your hair anyway. It's not pretty lol

My pre-op paperwork said not to wear any but I asked my doctor and she said it was fine so I did! Straightened my hair too. I had a bad reaction to morphine, among other things, and ended up scratching all of my makeup off like a crack head after, but oh well.

Yep, definitely! Looking put together makes me feel confident so I'd definitely do hair and makeup before a c section.

I did! And I'll do it again! You sit in that bed for at least 12 hours with everyone coming to visit you before you can even get up, and an additional 12-24 before you can move well enough to get a shower. The extra effort before hand helped me feel like I looked more human. I look great in my OR photo first meeting J too so that's a plus!

I did! My doctor didn't care about anything going on above my chest, haha. I knew I'd want pictures and I wouldn't have labor making my makeup efforts pointless, so why not?

yes, i would. i didn't wear makeup for my vaginal birth and i looked like absolute shit in the post-delivery pictures. for me, at least some concealer, powder and blush would have been really helpful.

I would! I showered, did my hair, put on my makeup during early labor. And it was gone after a long labor and two hours of pushing, but it still made me feel good for that short while

I took a shower, shaved, blow dried my hair, and put on makeup while I was in labor at home, so yes I would.
Of course, I had the longest labor ever and didn't actually deliver till almost 24 hours later so it had all worn off, but I tried!

I wouldn't go all out, but I would probably put a little mascara/eyebrow gel/bb cream on. And make my hair look decent.

I would! I'd do my hair into something convenient, like a cute messy top knot so it's out of the way. I'd make sure and use light, but waterproof makeup!

Just a note on the mani/pedi, that mAy be a no-no. It was at my hospital, even just with an induction that had the potential to turn csection. They like to be able to see the color of your nail beds.

As long as the doctor didn't have a problem with it, I would! I wouldn't wear a ton, but I feel more comfortable with some light make-up (and I'm also blond, so without mascara it looks like I have no eyelashes).
If for some reason I wasn't allowed to for the surgery, I'd show my husband in advance how to apply it, so he could at least put some on me before people arrive to visit and take a million pictures.

I did my hair and makeup everything morning in the hospital for my induction and eventual c-section so I'll definitely do it for a scheduled csection next time! I had a mani pedi right before I went in too.

I did my makeup and put my hair nicely up when my water broke at 2am before contractions started. My husband thought I was crazy. So I would definitely for a planned c-section!

Absolutely! You don't want to hate every picture of you with your new baby if you normally wear makeup and do your hair

No way. So dangerous from a medical standpoint.
For my c-section, a facial towelette was actually provided as part of the prep to make sure ALL makeup was removed. Even if it just seems like a little blush or a little eyeshadow to you, it might be enough to make it difficult for the team to monitor you during the surgery.
Everyone knew I'd given birth, no one expected me to look put together.
