A just for fun post!
I'm reading through the Harry Potter series right now, and it's been a long time since I've read the books. I'm not sure which one is my favorite but I'll decide once I've read them all again! They are all so amazing though, I know that much. I'm looking forward to reading the newest one, as well.

reading for the first & second times I always loved The Goblet of Fire book best... but they're all so good.

I love them all so much! It's definitely easier to choose a least favorite. My least favorite was order of the Phoenix. But even a "bad" Potter book is good!

Staring with book 3, I think it gets a lot more interesting. My fave is the 7th though. Not only because we finally get to the end but because I think JK Rowling did a phenomenal job weaving the story together. I thought she made some extremely powerful observations about life and death and how humans grapple with it. Those ideas still resonate with me.

I love Goblet of Fire the most. I feel like that one is the transition point where the books move from being more childish to more serious/dark.

Definitely Goblet of Fire and Prisoner of Azkaban and Order of the Phoenix are tied for me for second.

Ugh, all so good! I guess I like the last one best b/c a lot of questions get answered, the whole Snape story line, etc.

I'm really reading them too! My husband and I had been talking about doing it forever. It's so fun! I posted about it on FB and now a few of my friends are.
Number 3 and number 4 are my favorites. The third has such a great twist ending and drama. But once you know what happens, it takes some of the fun out of rereading. Number 4 is my favorite to read over and over. So much going on! (And things that are still exciting and not dark, like the World Cup). Number 2 had always been my least favorite but I enjoyed reading it more this time. It's the first time I've read it since reading 6&7, so I think the diary is more exciting once you realize it is a horcrux. (And that e and Ginny get together).
I've only read 6&7 once so I'm excited to read them again. I couldn't tell you much of what happens in them. I'm on #5 now!

The first! For the movies too, the first two are my fav. I feel like they have the childish magic and charm. Prob least fav book is the order of the Phoenix... I think that's the one where he has the recurring nightmare. I remember thinking it was so repetitive.

Prisoner of Azkaban was my favorite too. And then a really close second being the Half Blood Prince. I really didn't like Order of the Phoneix. Harry Potter was incredibly whiny the entire book

@lamariniere: Same! #3 was where I officially fell in love with the series, so I immediately think of it when someone asks this question, but #7 is just so well written, and the story comes together so well, that I have a hard time saying it's not my favorite. Plus I ugly cried through nearly the whole thing knowing it was the last time I'd read a HP book for the first time.

LOOOVE #3. My least favorite was #5. By least favorite, I mean I only read that one twenty times or so.

For me it's the 5th, which is suprisingly unpopular here! I loved learning about the prophecy and thinking how different things would be if Voldemort had chosen Neville instead of Harry... I also loved book #6 because of all the background on Voldemort and his family.

@bloved: That was my least favourite too. Professor Umbridge stressed me out so much, and I had anxiety reading it!
My favourite was Deathly Hallows. I love love loved it.
