My EBF 7 week old hasn't pooped in three days. I called the doctor and they said not to worry because stooling patterns can change around this age, especially in breastfed babies. She's fussier than normal but not terrible. Anyone else have this happen? Is there anything I can do to help her go?

@SeptMomma12: Don't worry! I attend a breastfeeding support group and we were just talking about this today. The norm according to LL is one poop every one to seven! days at that age

@SeptMomma12: I just read that this is normal at about that age & that ebf babies can't get constipated, so not to worry. It does seem alarming (especially after MANY poops per day!), but seems to be normal.

@mrswin: Thank you! Her last poop, on Tuesday, was kinda thicker than usual, but hopefully that's just her digestive system maturing as my milk changes. It's so nerve-wracking!

Around 8 weeks she started pooping once a day. But when she does look out! especially in those early 8/9 weeks. Now at 11 weeks she's pooping once a day sometimes twice but a much smaller amount. It's weird at first but I love cleaning up less poop!

@SeptMomma12: my little guy has only pooped twice a week since he was six weeks old! You can do some gently tummy massage (in a clockwise direction) or bicycling her wee legs to help get her moving.

@SeptMomma12: lol was it a doozy?! I've read it's normal and not a concern for bf babies to only poop a few times a week but I've yet to experience it myself.

Glad she pooped! My breastfed babies have gone 10+ days before.

@Anya: Yes it was quite impressive! Lucky for me DH was the one holding her when it happened
