Someone posted this on Facebook so I looked into it and have adopted a family. You get matched with a family and then you ship a box of supplies to this resource center and they distribute it. I love this! Is there any way to be sure that it's legit? I'm sure it is, but I'm always cautious. I could see something like this being a great idea for an alternative for Xmas presents. Instead of exchanging gifts with extended family, I might suggest using those funds to donate towards those who really need it.

@NorthStar: It's not a "true" charity; it's something that was just started by a couple of volunteers who are from St. Thomas. So there's no way to really verify its legitimacy. But reviews on their facebook page are good, they are posting about specific needs, and respond quickly to posts on the page. I feel like if they were a shady group, they'd be shady on facebook, too? It feels legit, if that makes sense.

@hellobeeboston: Absolutely. It's been a little disheartening because it just seems like nowhere is the "best" to donate. I loved seeing all her pictures/videos and actual accounts of what she's doing and where the money's going. I really respect her to be somebody that really is doing something.
