With Lo1 I was an over zealous first time mum and just bought the most expensive of everything. Well now I realize thats ridiculous .
I'm looking for a good alternative to the Peg infant car seat. What would be comparable but at lower price point?

I really liked our Graco Snugride 35. The fabric felt really nice and it was lightest of all the seats I tested.
A lot of people swear by Chicco but the infant seat didn't fit in my car.

We have the chicco and it's totally fine! Does the job.
We have the peg perego toddler convertible seat and it is fab! I imagine the infant seat is similarly nice?

@hilsy85: The infant seat was really nice! Leather and everything. I think what I liked best though is that it felt really safe, it was quite heavy too which added to that feeling of security.
Does the Chicco feel pretty safe?

@avivoca: Did it not fit in your car because its bigger than the rest or?

@Autumnmama79: I drive a Nissan, and Nissan has tested most car seats and booster seats to see what fits best in each of their vehicles. The Chicco is one of the ones that didn't fit in the car during the initial test, so I didn't even try to install it. I did pick it up in the store and it was much heavier than the Graco we ended up with.

@Autumnmama79: yes it feels safe. The fabric is warm though, so DD sweats in it. I just dress her in minimal clothing when we are in the car.

@Autumnmama79: that car seat was rated as a top pick somewhere based on its safety testing. I do know a friend who has it and it is heavy! I considered it, but couldn't pull the trigger due to the price tag and the fact that I didn't use the infant seat we had borrowed for that long with #1. I'm pretty sure we'll go with the tried and true Chicco Keyfit this time--maybe pop a little extra for the magic version. The zipper looks cool, but I read some reviews that said the material doesn't breathe well.

I absolutely love my keyfit. I got the "magic" version, for an extra 10$ it came with an extended canopy and a boot which is great for our cold Canadian winters. It is also super easy to install and clicks into the base so well.
