    @MrsHotDog: I am sure it can only mean happy healthy things! I would be excited to hear I was further along that I thought Although my current due date based on my LMP is just a week after I graduate with my masters...yikes!

    So, crazy cool thing happened today...

    I really wanted to tell my grandma about LO in a special way. We used to watch the Wizard of Oz together alllll the time, so I thought about getting a pair of baby red ruby slippers (she bought me my first red ruby slippers). I was looking online but didn't really find much that I liked.

    I decided on a whim to go into Once Upon a Child just to see what it's like. It was crazily disorganized and jam-packed. I was looking for a cutesy onesie but found myself in the shoe department (which consisted of 15+ bins of shoes) and pulled one bin off the shelf. Right on top were a pair of itty bitty baby red ruby slippers!!!! I was so thrilled!

    This grandma was married to my grandpa whose birthday LO is due on. I know she's still grieving very much (we all are, he was a very special person and very very loved by everyone). It just feels so much like its all meant to be!

    I'm going wrap them up and include the poem that starts out with I do not have a face to see, or put inside a frame.

    I'm so so so thrilled!!

    Ladies I just had my ultrasound today and it was so heart melting.

    We saw a small circle that is our baby, rapid heart beating. I cried, the nurses all came in and cried... my doctor cried too! (she's seriously the best)

    The hubby was so excited when he saw the heart beating! "OMG! THE HEART IS BEATING SO FAST!"

    Healthy baby over here, very excited. Anyone else had their ultrasounds??

    @anniegurumi: That is so exciting!! So happy for you What a special time this must be for you and DH right now!

    We haven't had our U/S yet, but I'm waiting (im)patiently!

    How is everyone feeling today? I just passed the 6 week mark and like everyone says, the symptoms have started hitting harder. Around 12:30/1:00PM everyday I start feeling like death and wanting to lay my head on my desk or lie in fetal position. I have to travel with a few executives of work next week to a conference and I'm terrified that I'm going to make a fool of myself!

    I'm 7 wks today! My ultrasound isn't until Dec 15. Maybe they schedule thing differently here in Canada. But I will hear the heartbeat at my next appointment with my nurse practitioner.

    It's so hard to not tell everyone!!! Anyone else feel that way?

    @anniegurumi: Congrats!!!!!

    @Mrs. Lovejoy: I am waiting impatiently too, and they told me no u/s until week 12, boohoo!!! I'm really going to harass them for one at my 8 week appt though. I'm hitting 6 weeks on Monday so waiting for the symptoms to hit hard. Right now i'm mostly just starving and my boobs hurt on and off.

  12. Mrs. Lovejoy

    clementine / 972 posts

    @JoJoGirl: 12 weeks! I didn't ask if I'd get one at my first apt. (which will be at 8.5 weeks) so that makes me nervous! I saw your post about it and it seems it is somewhat standard to wait until 12 for a low-risk pregnancy, but that just seems so long to wait! haha - that means I'm only half way there.

    hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts

    @Mrs. Lovejoy: I'm feeling ok so far but our work bathrooms aren't working and they will deliver porta potties later this morning. I expect nausea in a few hours!

    @IcebergMom: I'm still paranoid about telling my friends the news. Only my closest friends know at this point!

  14. Mrs. Lovejoy

    clementine / 972 posts

    @autumnlove: Oh joy (sarcasm)! That sounds terrible! And since you're prego, I'm doubting you can hold it all day!

    On a similar note, we had asparagus yesterday, and I think we all know what that can do to us.. I can't get the smell out of my nostrils and it's been an hour since I've been in the bathroom.

  15. JoJoGirl

    cantaloupe / 6206 posts

    @IcebergMom: I've spilled to WAY more people than is probably appropriate at this point! I'm just terrible at keeping secrets so when friends who know we are TTC say point blank "Are you not drinking because you're pregnant?", I just can't bring myself to make up some other excuse. And anyway, these are friends I would lean on if I did m/c, so I see no reason not to tell them.

  16. IcebergMom

    persimmon / 1295 posts

    @jojogirl yeah we've definitely told more people than we did at this point with our first baby but now I'm feeling compelled to tell everyone else. I almost just told the librarian. Lol

  17. Mrs. Lovejoy

    clementine / 972 posts

    @JoJoGirl: I'm pretty envious! I have been wanting to tell people so badly! I made popcorn at 10AM yesterday and my co-worker asked me point blank if I was pregnant. I would have told her but DH really wants to tell our parents first (who live out of town and we're not visiting them for 4 weeks).

  18. JoJoGirl

    cantaloupe / 6206 posts

    @Mrs. Lovejoy: @IcebergMom: I'm definitely not telling any coworkers. It's easier since I'm in a new job and am not close to anyone here yet, at my old job it would have been game over (I HAVE told friends from my old job already!). We told our parents over Skype the night of the BFP, ha ha. Talk about impatient! We won't see my parents til Thanksgiving so no point waiting for that.

    nectarine / 2177 posts

    @anniegurumi: Oh how lovely!! I am so glad you have such a wonderful appointment.

    @JoJoGirl: As far as telling people, I am in the same boat as you. I am a terrible secret keeper with something so big and personal and exciting as this. We've told (mostly...haha) only close friends who are those we'd lean on for support. We plan to tell our families after our 8 week u/s.

    As far as symptoms: peeing all the time, fatigued, fuller heavier boobs which are FINALLY sore (I was excited when that happened!) A little nausea here and there, but if I wasn't pregnant I wouldn't really think anything of it.

    You know what, ladies, I don't get the not telling people thing. Not now... They say not to tell anyone before 12 weeks "in case something happens" but when something did "happen" for us I wished everyone knew so they could understand and/or support us. Next time, I'm telling anyone I want!!

    ps - yes, I do totally still lurk on this thread.

  21. lomom

    nectarine / 2127 posts

    I've found it really hard to keep it a secret... My three closest friends know (I've been friends with these girls for 10+ years, couldn't keep it from them!) and two coworkers. My coworkers know because one was on a business trip with me and kept pestering me to drink, so I spilled the beans/they guessed. The other coworker walked in on me retching, face-in-the-toilet.

    We are telling my parents on Sunday! we've heard the heartbeat and got the green light from the OB to tell but I'm only 7 weeks (today!) so I think we'll wait a bit longer to tell extended family and work. I just don't know if I'm comfortable with telling that early, even though my OB says to go ahead!

  22. IcebergMom

    persimmon / 1295 posts

    @septemberlove I'm also 7 weeks today!!

  23. IcebergMom

    persimmon / 1295 posts

    @ali yes, I totally agree. I've told anyone that I think I would lean on for support or talk to if I have a m/c. I agree that women shouldn't be totally silent. A person needs love!

  24. JoJoGirl

    cantaloupe / 6206 posts

    @Ali: We miss you dear, hope you are holding up okay. We are all reaching out and hugging you virtually!

    My new rule is if I SEE friends in person I might tell them, but I'm not reaching out to anyone new to tell them before I have my first u/s. So many people already know!

  25. lomom

    nectarine / 2127 posts

    @IcebergMom: I absolutely agree that women shouldn't have to be silent! This is such an exciting, joyful time in our lives and I wish I could shout it from the rooftops! There's still that idea that it should be kept a secret for 12 weeks in case something happens and I hate that. From the moment I got my bfp, my baby existed. He or she is real and loved and if something were to happen, it wouldn't change the fact that my baby existed and is loved. I wish attitudes around miscarriage would change.

    @Ali: *HUGS*

    @IcebergMom: Oooh I know that my doctor is doing things early because I had surgery two months ago. Plus she's monitoring me since I'm on progesterone and she's a fertility specialist. I do feel lucky to see the baby so soon. I can't wait to hear about your first ultrasound!

    @Ali: Hope you're doing well--we miss you!

    @JoJoGirl: Same boat for the in person thing. I am such a blab!! Haha.

    6 weeks today! First appointment in 11 days...I need to relax and enjoy every day but I just want to see the little guy already! My boobs are finally sore, and to be honest I welcomed the most tangible symptom I've had yet (maybe in addition to peeing all. the. time.) Poor DH...the boobs are noticeably fuller and bigger--enticing--yet they are on fire. Sad for him! Haha.

    @JoJoGirl: I just have a lot of M/S today! Congrats on hitting 6 weeks!

  36. maybebaby

    nectarine / 2177 posts

    @JoJoGirl: We're just a few days apart I am 6w3d today. When is your first U/S? We're going a week from tomorrow.

    I haven't had any morning sickness really, but I feel kind of nauseous on and off throughout the day--never threatening to vomit though. Is that morning sickness? My sweet husband made homemade soup and garlic bread yesterday and the smell of the garlic bread (which I LOVE) made me feel ill. I had a ginger smoothie for dinner instead.

  37. JoJoGirl

    cantaloupe / 6206 posts

    Ooh I love that so many of us are in a few days of each other! I haven't had any m/s yet, although I took a whiff of red pepper flakes just now when I was cooking dinner and got a little green. But I'm so anticipating it starting, I decided I was imagining it and it went away.

    @Adira: Thanks!!

    @maybebaby: I have an appointment a week from Thursday. The nurse told me over the phone he wouldn't do an u/s because I don't have any risk history, but I'm going to pull the age card and tell him that I (honestly) have been having a lot of anxiety about m/c and see if he'll do one! DH is coming with me just in case!

    I'm planning on running a 10K a week from today for work that I committed to a long time ago... I told someone today I hurt my knee so I'll be taking it easy instead of trying to beat my previous record Haha. Hope I don't puke on the course!

  38. maybebaby

    nectarine / 2177 posts

    @JoJoGirl: Ohh I hope they give you one! Good luck on the 5k! I just started the couch to 5k program a few weeks before we got pregnant and ran my first 5k two weekends ago. I definitely felt like I had to take it easy--heartbeat seemed to elevate really quickly--but despite being a bit of a slow poke, it felt great to be out and active.

  39. anniegurumi

    cherry / 174 posts

    @JoJoGirl: Good luck with the 5K and the ultrasound!

    I've been having pulling or stretching feelings in my lower abdomen and have been told it could be my uterus getting bigger. I'm about 7w2d

    I am so eager to find out if it is a girl or boy and know all of us have a few more months till we find out. But I'm so curious! Plus I love to crochet so I want to get started on it now but want to know first the gender.

    I've noticed my taste buds have changed a lot. I used to love pork but now I hate it. Water tastes so bad to me.

    Anyone else a crafter or have those pulling feelings like I do?

  40. autumnlove

    hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts

    @anniegurumi: I get those pulling aches too at almost 10 weeks.

    I am also having a lot of trouble drinking water these days!

    Our gender scan will be on Dec 10th and we flip flop between wanting to find out or staying Team Green!
