LO and her dad haven't wanted to cut hair beyond a trim for years but somehow the stars all lined up and they said ok yesterday. So I rushed out and did it today before anyone changed their mind. LO loves it. Sent pics but haven't heard back from Dad yet but he's probably drying his eyes in Kleenex. It needed to be done. Her super long hair was so unmanageable and sweaty all the time. I went to fancy braids and hair which was fun but I think the rubberbands and securing it all the time caused some extra breakage. It looks beautiful but I'm in mourning. Has anyone else cut their daughter's long hair yet? Any plans?

We are doing it this weekend. LO is 5 with hair that brushes her butt crack. She's only ever had a trim. She's never wanted her hair shorter. It's up everyday because otherwise it's an unruly mess. She says she's tired of people touching it at school and how long it takes me to care for it. She wants a cut that's between her chin and shoulders. I'm so emotionally conflicted. She'll always be adorable but I just can't picture her with short hair.

Not the same, but I cut DD's toddler mullet off the other day and I'm so glad I did. I was conflicted because she's still little and doesn't even have that much hair, but she looks so much better now.

My DD has almost no hair, she was bald and just started having hair really come in at almost 2, but I think I am going to take her on her birthday for a little bit of an evening up of the back of her hair, since we did my DS's first haircut on his second birthday.

Not too similar but I posted earlier today how I am taking my son in for his first hair cut tomorrow! So nervous to see his cute baby highlights trimmed off. He's gonna look like such a big boy!

LO had almost no hair except baby curls on the end as a toddler. I think I was bald until 3. LO's hair sure grew a lot from 3-5. This is before and after.

Yes! My 4 year old has had a bob for almost a year and we LOVE it. So much easier to take care of than her long hair was. I have a pixie and she wants to get hers cut like mine next time.

My girl is almost 4 and had longer hair until this summer. She kept getting frustrated about tangles and finally agreed to a shorter do. We are all much happier now.

Yes, we did this last weekend! DD was born with a full head of hair and we didn't cut it until a week after she turned 3. It was halfway down her back and now it is a little above her shoulders. She loves it because she likes to wear it down (I used to insist on putting it up so it wouldn't be in her face). I love it because I don't have to wrestle her to do her hair every morning now plus it's easier to wash.

DD1 had hair past her bum. We cut about six inches off a month back. It's still to the middle of her back but upkeep is much easier.
Despite it being her third haircut, we lost her ringlets this time.

Yes. My LO's hair was similar lengths (before and after) to @808love's LO.
LO did not want to cut her hair and wanted it long so we kept letting it grow, but then she changed her mind because she was tired of it snagging on things as she ran at school and asked to have it cut.
The only thing that makes me sad is that LO's hair was curly, and I thought she had hair like mine and that if it was shorter it would be even more curly, but it's like all the curl was at bottom 2/3 of her hair and so it basically all got cut out and now LO was pretty stick straight hair

I just cut her hair because it gets stringy when it's long. She cried. She hates it. And I want to cut it shorter (to a bob) because I'm a terrible mom. Hahaha.

@avivoca: Hope so! It still wavy like mine. My hair actually relaxed a bit post pregnancy. I used to have 2c waves and now I'm more 2a. I miss my own curls too!

I think LO was just tired of hearing me complain that I was late (not really that late) to leave the house because I was doing her braids and updos. I will miss her long (Disney) princess -

I totally thought that looks like a Texan but it is actually very normal for a little girl to dress up like that for fun so I don't know what made me think that!! Maybe the bbq sauce?! The ponytail question got me too. I chickened out and went 'long enough for a ponytail'. -
We just cut both girls into bobs, the olders was just past her shoulders and it needed it (the 2x a day fights to brush it were out of hand) and it looks adorable. Our youngest is 18 months with a full head of hair, we gave her bangs since they were hanging in her face.

My LO is 15 months and I really want to cut her voluminous hair but she barely sits still for me to trim her bangs!

We have never let her hair get that long. She's always had a bob. But I love girls with short hair!
