YES. I used to follow my dad around the house "helping" him with stuff. He is an all around handy man and very good at it. He can seriously fix anything. I can use all kinds of tools and will definitely be showing my son how to do the same (and his dada too of course!)

Yes. My parents are super handy and I grew up doing DIY stuff. I mean, I was doing stuff like driving a Bobcat when I was like 10. C is only 2, but we let her watch when we fix stuff. She loves to pick up a screwdriver or something and "help" us. She's getting a toy tool set and power tools for Christmas this year, actually.

DH is! Our DD will probably end up being more handy than me, if she's willing to learn from daddy!

Oh yeah, DH is super handy. He installed all 26 of our new windows, and will be finishing our basement himself.

Nope! I'm handier than my husband so I put everything together that needs to be assembled. Everything else we hire a professional, or have my dad come over and fix it for us in exchange for dinner. Hey, you can't be good at everything, right?

Yep, we can all hold our own. I can paint a lot better than my husband can, which is sad, because his father is a painter.

A typical weekend at our house involves my dad, husband and son, installing the dishwasher or lighting.

I would say I'm more handy than DH, he tries, but anytime he puts something together it results I the "instructions being too small...poorly written" followed by a few 4 letter words. easier to do it myself!

Neither of us are that handy! But one of my goals this year is to improve my skills around the house because I think it's really valuable! DH has no interest.

The next task I want to tackle is replacing the shower doors with a rod and shower curtains. Seems easy enough.

Neither my husband nor I are particularly handy but we just bought a house and we are trying to get better at DIY. Slowly but surely, we are learning how to keep the place up and running. I hope to consider myself handy after living here for a few more years.

@mrbee: You should check out Construction Kids at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. They teach kids hows to use real tools in a super safe way and they build awesome things, like skateboards and guitars. It's one of my favorite NYC gems!

You name it, DH can pretty much do it! I'm fairly handy myself, but he's far more handy than I am. LO loves to help daddy, so hoping he learns as he grows by assisting.

I am very handy. DH is not. I plan to teach our daughter to be handy!
