I've been surprised at the number of in-laws who have "switched teams"... i.e. they are more loyal to their daughter-in-law than they are to their own son!

This process seems to usually take place after grandkids are involved. Still, it's surprising to me. I think in general, in-laws are much nicer to their new "sons" and "daughters" than they used to be. I heard stories about how in Japan, your mother-in-law was often expected to treat her daughter-in-law as almost like a slave. So this is a true revolution!

Are your in-laws loyal to you or your SO? Was there a point at which it felt like they had switched teams, and were more loyal to you?
