We have pretty set schedules at home, but when we are on vacation we try to go with the flow more and do fun things within reason. We just spent a week away in a foreign country (just an hour time difference). Our kids were great and totally were flexible. I'm guessing there will be a few crabby days at home now, but it was worth it!

My kids are usually more flexible than I think that they will be. I'm a total schedule nut at home! I'm so glad your boys did well on vacation

Well he basically never acts tired and survives on little sleep if needed, so he usually is fine!! Lol. We can usually get him to nap and bed at the same-ish times though.

We have only been away for 3 days at the longest and we are a go with the flow family and she is great!!

Yes! I think the different stimulation and distractions helps. Even today we did a beach day from 10:30-2:30 when nap is normally at noon or 1. He did great!

@T.H.O.U.: Yep, we did pool at a resort and she was playing until 1:45 and nap time is usually 12 ish she was just fine

Yup but I think it really helps that there are two. Olive is a sleepy child but is very flexible because she wants to keep up with Charlie.

Very! I don't know if it's because we've traveled a lot with her, or if we've traveled a lot in part because she is such a good travel buddy, but she's very flexible. VERY flexible!

My son is not a good traveler, hates the plane, and usually always gets sick. So we basically hate it, LOL.

@yoursilverlining: this is us too. We aren't super strict at home, but they eat dinner, nap and go to bed rough around the same times every day. We've taken them a number of places and they've always adapted really well!

NOPE! It makes traveling awful. I always book plane tickets (mostly to see family) thinking that "this time will be different." It never is. I always end up wanting to leave about two days in..... Well, we booked plane tickets to see family in June, sure hope they are more "go with the flow!"

DD is totally flexible! Sometimes we skip nap or take it at a weird time and she always, always ends up going to bed later than normal... We do end up having to readjust for a day or two when we get home but since she isn't in school I don't think it's a big deal.

We haven't been on a family vacation since he was 8 months old but he wasn't flexible then and I don't think anything has changed! He's a demanding kid!

Yup, they are excellent travelers. I think we could probably be more flexible at home and they would also be fine but it's just easier for everyone to have a routine. Out of the house they get so much extra stimulation so even if their behavior is not perfect it's worth it for sure.

Depends who you ask 
I think they are. We are pretty flexible but also follow their lead if we can tell they're getting tired or need a snack. We usually stay out most of the day and get stroller naps in and try to eat lunch out so evening when they're getting antsy we can do something more low key. My MIL thinks they're not bc they usully adjust 3-4 hrs of the 6 hr time difference, but not all the way, and have some routines they like to keep, so they're not completely malleable.
