Has anyone had professional photos taken while they were on vacation? How did you find a good photographer in the area you're going to?
I'm basically googling "OBX family photographers" and feeling completely overwhelmed at all the results.

We did. When we searched for vacation pics the price was super expensive, so I went on wedding wire and searched for photographers in the neighboring towns. We got someone who was a good fit, but it was hard from a distance.

We did. We just emailed a bunch of photographers to inquire about price / utilized google. I also joined a Facebook group for the area and posted for recommendations.

Yes! I would check Yelp also to cross reference. We did it a long time ago in Hawaii.

You might want to look at photographers in Wilmington, NC too. Sometimes photographers from across the state will be doing photos shoots in the OBX. I think Wilmington is close enough that you may have someone who travels to the OBX more often. If not, they may have a recommendation for you.
I like the idea of using wedding wire to narrow the list. -
I like searching the hashtag on IG to find good photographers! So, for this I'd search #obxphotographer

Try thumbtack.com- you put in the zip code you want and the type of pictures. Then photographers will e-mail you with a quote.

I don't have any recommendations, but friends of mine did this while in Paris and they came back with wonderful shots! It's definitely the best souvenir!
