So you're a week past ovulation and you are itching to test...finally you test and you test...and they are all negative...at what point are you counting yourself out? We all know the "it's not over until AF arrives!" line and that you can't help but hold out some hope. But I'm just curious where everyone else's head is at during these times

I said 11 dpo because I've always had very early BFPs (8dpo twice and 4dp5dt once).
I'd probably keep testing but by 11, maybe 12dpo I wouldn't feel optimistic at all and Id just be doing it because you never know for sure until AF. But that's based on my body, I know that's still early for some others. -
I had a positive at 8 dpo with LO. I think if we try for a second I will probably feel less, and less optimistic for every day after that. I would truly feel out at 11, but that's pretty much the same as you never know for sure until AF given that my luteal phase is almost never more than 12 days.

I didn't test until 11-12dpo & while both times I was pg there was a line, I personally prefer not to do earlier testing given the chances for variability in tests &/ urine concentration. I wouldn't count myself totally out until "late" by HB standards, though, like 14dpo.

12 dpo. I've always had early positives (10-11 dpo), my luteal is only 11 days anyway so AF should arrive by day 12, and the only time I went to day 12 without AF and no solid positive, it turned out to be a chemical (which I figured out by day 14 or 15). So I was "out" anyway.

12 DPO, I'm super doubtful, definitely not feeling it at 13. I had 9-10 DPOs with all my pregnancies.

I've gotten all of my positives at 9dpo, so if I don't have one by 10 dpo I'm pretty positive I'm out.

16 days for me. I get late and light positives. I've been pregnant 3 times, but my second pregnancy was the only one that continued beyond 7 weeks. With all three pregnancies, I didn't get a positive until 14 or 15 dpo. With my successful pregnancy and my most recent miscarriage, I got a negative test the day before my positive test.

probably around day 14, but I would probably feel pretty bummed at 12 dpo.

If I'm confident of my ovulation date through temping or a really clear OPK, I pretty much count myself out at 11-12 dpo. If I'm not tracking, then probably up until AF, but I'd also be skeptical if no symptoms before then too.

I said 12 DPO, but I'm definitely pregnant right now with a baby that gave me a BFN then. I was floored when the BFP finally showed!

I've never seen a positive yet, but I figure it ain't over til AF shows! Maybe if I had a prior history, I'd feel differently.

11-12 dpo for me because with all four of my pregnancies, I've gotten a BFP on 9 dpo.

I've gotten super light positives at 11dpo before, that were definitely BFN's before that.

I was just curious because I've found myself in an odd situation. I will try to keep this as short as I can.
History: Short cycles (23 days on avg), Short LP (9 days), LO was conceived after nearly 2 years (no known chemicals), hsg, and clomid. I'm 10 months PP and have had 10 cycles. Aside from the first cycle, they've all been back to normal. I used opks for a few cycles over the summer to confirm O and they were right on track as usual for a day 14 ovulation so I stopped.Current situation is that we have had a couple cycles NTNP but decided to go for it this cycle. I didn't want to become obsessive just yet due to our history so no temping or OPKs. AF was due Sunday (CD24) and here I sit today (CD26) somewhere around 12 dpo (assuming O was normal) with negative tests from this morning and yesterday morning. There has never been a 12 dpo for me without Clomid so I've never put much thought into where I would draw the line to try to keep my hopes from getting too high
I know my DPO could be off since I don't really know when O was so I will just keep testing hahaThanks again everyone!

I'm pregnant now... I actually tested at 12 dpo (a Wednesday) and got a negative! I was fine with it because it meant I could drink at our Valentine's day dinner that weekend. Didn't think about it again, and proceeded to come down with the flu on the following Monday. Didn't test again until AF was over a week late, once I was totally over the flu and realized it. BFP!! Not sure if I would have gotten a positive on 14 dpo, but there wasn't even the suggestion of a second line at 12 dpo.

Just because I always wonder what the outcome was on posts similar to this...
I never got a BFP. AF came this morning--4 days late! It's never happened before and I don't really know what to make of it. Oh well, onto the next cycle.

@Bea: This happened to me last month. My cycle is pretty predictable but apparently I had a 16 day luteal phase last month (usually only 13). I was pretty perplexed and decided to try taking Vitex this month on the recommendation of some other bees. Come join us on the Sept POAS board!
