    @Anutka: I already had an appointment that was supposed to be pre-conception. DH just pulled the goalie a month earlier than planned. And I actually played the "given my history" card to get in when I did.

    @Anutka: I had one only because I couldn't pinpoint how far along I am due to some weird cycle(s). I am supposed to schedule an ultrasound in the next two weeks for dating. As of right now, the EDD they are going with is 8/16, but I don't think that's right. I think I'm further along than that.

    @Mrs. J: You're def further along than that! I think you're due around the same time I am because to be due a week after me, there's no way you would have gotten a BFP that early.

    Wow ladies I need to do a better job of keeping up with this thread! Good luck on all of your upcoming appointments!

    I'm 5 weeks today, still pregnant based on the fast dark lines I got on a blue dye this am, but barely feel preggers still, well except for the slightly sore boobs, gas/bloating, and the light cramping still. I'm hoping I just have another week until the symptoms rly kick in, is it crazy that I'm wishing for them?

    @lilteacherbee: exactly!! Can't wait to see what the ultrasound says

    @buttermilk: I'm with you girl! I'm trying to tell myself that many people don't get symptoms till week 6, and I'll be one of those. But it's hard not to irrationally worry when it seams like everyone has symptoms except for you. I really hope they come in by the time we announce at Christmas, or I might lose my nerve and wait till our first appointment.

    @buttermilk: I was wishing for them until it hit this morning!!! I think I'm going to die. DS still wants to nurse, of course.

    I didn't get many symptoms until 6 weeks with LO, and now I would say the morning nausea and food aversions have arrived.. I'm one day shy of 6 weeks by my calculations. I'm sure you'll all start to feel more pregnant soon!

    @auggiefrog: I know I'm like, is it gradual, or will we just wake up one day and feel pregnant? I'm sure the gods will bless us with morning sickness soon enough! FX! LOL! Do you have a big surprise planned for spilling the beans? How are you gonna tell them on Xmas?

    @Mrs. J: Poor thing, I'm so jealous! Hahaha.

    @buttermilk: I'm about a week behind you, but your symptoms sound exactly like mine. Just enough to remind me that something's there.

    AF is officially late today, so I may take another test today or tomorrow just to see. I already missed FMU today because I was groggy and didn't think about it. I'm about 17 DPO by now, so hopefully that wouldn't matter.

    @buttermilk: @auggiefrog
    My symptoms were gradual. Week 5 I felt just sort of off. Week 6 and the nausea was getting worse. Woke up today 6w3d and....it's arrived. Don't worry...you'll get there!

    Looks like my BFP wasn't a BFP after all, because I think I had a chemical pregnancy. I started spotting yesterday and bled last night pretty heavily. I took two digital tests and they said "Not Pregnant." After 11 months of trying, it is pretty devastating. Not sure where to go from here.

    @mrsjd: Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that. I wonder if your doctor could squeeze you in, if you're feeling up to it.

    @krispi: I placed a call this morning. She's in clinicals this morning (it's a teaching hospital) and will call me back. I spoke with a nurse who asked if I wanted a blood test to confirm. I declined. Given the heavy bleeding (heavier than normal for me, not concerning) I am pretty sure I don't need confirmation. The original plan this cycle was to see if I got pregnant and if I did not, to start Clomid next cycle. We might go that route. Not sure yet what I want to do.

    @buttermilk: I'm giving most of my family a little box with a note in it from baby. For my best friend I just signed a Christmas card from myself, my hubby, and Baby R (coming in august), and for my DH's good friends we bought them a children's book and wrote a little note from the baby.

    My first appointment is tomorrow, and I'm getting nervous. I know they probably won't do an ultrasound because 4w5d is too early to see much, but I hope my cervix looks 'pregnant' and everything is going alright! Excited to schedule the real deal ultrasound, which of course should be over the holiday weeks! I hope they can get me in! I would love to be able to announce to family at Christmas or New Year with a picture and heartbeat confirmed!

    @mrsjd: I'm so sorry.

    We booked our first counseling appointments. Mine's next week, 2 days after our first ultrasound. Perfect timing if the ultrasound goes badly I guess. DH couldn't get in till the following week because he needs a later time because of work. I'm hoping it goes well.

    It's weird, I'm so tired of keeping this a secret, because I want to be able to talk about it. But I'm actually dreading announcing. I think I'm afraid people will act weird, after everything and this being my fourth pregnancy. I'm almost tempted to wait until after the screening so we can announce the sex at the same time. But I was visibly pregnant by 12 weeks last time (to the point two different strangers commented on the fact that I was pregnant), and with this being basically my second (since first two didn't make it that far) I'm guessing I'll be showing by the time we get the screening results. I dunno. It's just weird sometimes, navigating all this.

    For those of you who have a child already, did any of you have a traumatic birth experience? I had a posterior baby who weighed 8 pounds 15 ounces. After being in labor over 30 hours, my labor stalled and I couldn't push him out. I ended up with a C-section. Anyway, I want to try a VBAC, but I'm worried the same thing will happen again. Anyone have a similar experience?

    @aprild: Congrats and welcome!

  31. Torchwood

    pomelo / 5607 posts

    @aprild: my experience was completely different, but plenty traumatic. I'm going to start counseling next week and my fear of labor because of having had a bad experience will be one of the main issues I'll be dealing with. My midwife also strongly recommended having a doula. She said the that would help insure I wasn't left alone (a big issue for me) and they could help me manage any anxiety that comes up.

    @Mrs. Microscope: That's great that they are seeing you already. Fingers crossed for a wonderful appointment.

    @Torchwood: You guys have been through a lot for sure. I hope all your appointments go well, both the doctor and the counseling.

    So, I couldn't wait and tested again yesterday. AF was officially late, and I'm estimating that I was 17 DPO. This wasn't FMU and was barely a 2 hour hold if that. It's reassuring to see the line getting darker. I'll have to settle for that until I go to the doctor, one week from today.

    @aprild: Pretty much my exact experience.. 53 hours of back labour because LO was posterior too with chin to shoulder, pushed for an hour and ended up with a c-section. I also want to try for vbac but I have the same fears so the idea of a repeat C is definitely still lingering here and there.. don't know what to do!

  34. OhCaptain

    kiwi / 696 posts

    @aprild: I'm also attempting VBAC, with a midwife at an independent birth center. My section wasn't traumatic, just a failed induction.

  35. cat620

    pear / 1809 posts

    @Torchwood: I had a doula with my first birth, and I highly recommend using one. Although, I still ended up with a C-section, she did comfort me through the pain and made me feel extra supported.

    @getjazzy: The back labor is the worst. I went naturally for my first 28 hours, so I felt everything! And it was awful! I hope my next baby won't be posterior, because I think that, combined with his big size, made it too hard for me to push him out. I'm worried, because there's no way to tell.

    @OhCaptain: I'm glad you're giving it a try. I think a VBAC is much safer and a way easier recovery than a repeat C-Section.

  36. getjazzy

    persimmon / 1179 posts

    @aprild: I know the feeling! I was 37 hours without pain meds too. I'm definitely going to pay close attention to positioning. I knew he was posterior based on the movements since about 32 weeks but my OB kept assuring he would flip. He was also measuring ahead my whole pregnancy and I have a short torso. Hopefully there will be enough "warning signs" if this one will go the same direction. I do plan on doing more yoga and stretching this pregnancy to promote the proper position but my labour nurse warned me that some pelvis shapes just don't allow it so I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

  37. Mrs. J

    pomelo / 5132 posts

    I didn't have a traumatic labor, just lengthy. I labored at home for over two days before they said we should come in, and by then I was at an 8. 8.5 hours and no drugs later, DS was born (they broke my water).

    Ugh, my old practice just called to charge me 25 for sending my records to the new one. Annoying!

    @aprild: I had a c-section, but I'm 95% sure I'm going with a repeat.

    @Mrs. Microscope: Yay!! Mine's the 23rd and I'm excited to announce to extended family at Christmas (our parents, my sister, and my grandma already know).

    @getjazzy: I'm hoping chasing after a toddler will keep me more active and healthier this pregnancy. I've heard about the pelvis shape impacting birth too. Can an OB tell which pelvis shape a person has? I'm thinking about asking mine what she thinks.

    @Mrs. J: I think laboring at home as long as possible is the best route to take. I prefer it to sitting in a hospital bed. I wish I labored at home longer with my first, but I was scared he was coming any second! It's hard to know what to expect when it's your first.

    @Mrs. Microscope: Glad to hear you had a good appointment!

    @lilteacherbee: Nothing wrong with that. Why did you get a C-section last time if I may ask?
