I took all your advice and called my ob office. They told me to go to labor and delivery. So we did a few things around the house and are now heading in! Hope they don't tell me I'm crazy and send me home!

As soon as we got off the elevator, my mother in law was there to greet us. What. The. Fuck. Holy invasion of privacy! I love her and all, but I told my own mom not to come yet.

@agold: Holy hell, I would be PISSED! This is why we didn't tell anyone we were going to the hospital (well, we called my mom but it was 4:30am and she lives 1.5 hours away and also knew better than to come).

I'm so glad you all agree with me that it's crazy she showed up like that. I'm a pretty talkative social person, but not under these circumstances. she had to leave the room while the nurse ran tests. We sort of waited a bit to invite her back in and then she said she was going to leave to have lunch with her cousin. Phew. While she was here, the nurse asked me why I was doing fetal monitoring before. I looked at her with a blank stare because MIL doesn't know we did IVf so I couldn't say it at the time. Nurse probably thought I was an idiot, but i explained after mil left. Needless to say, my blood pressure was the highest I've ever seen it!
Waiting to see if I am admitted. They did a check to see if I'm leaking fluid and that was negative. I'm 90% effaced so that's great. Dilated to a 1. Ha. Progress but barely. But baby's head is so low and right where it needs to be. AND I was told again - baby doesn't feel like she has any hair!

@agold: Good luck and keep us posted. Also....I still don't understand the hair/no hair proclamation. If you're maybe at 1 cm, how can they tell?

@agold: progress is progress! And i would have flipped out if my MIL was at the hospital when I was in labor. Like... Started throwing things. When I was in the hospital the nurses always asked me if it was okay to talk when there were visitors in the room.

We just went to check in and they are sooo backed up, they sent us away for 1.5 hrs! Popular day to have a baby!

All admitted and on a small dose of pitocin. Low fluid. Water confirmed broken. Just walking around and breathing through contractions.

After 21 hours of contractions, I caved and got the epidural. I'm dilated to a 4. Nearly 100% effaced. Going to try to sleep now. I'm exhausted!
