How would you pronounce the name Vada? Its one of our top names if this baby is a girl (team green) and I've gotten mixed reviews on it when I mention it. Do you like it?
Middle name will be Sabine or Beatrice and our other two first name contenders are Anya and Maeve.

Vay-duh is how I would pronounce it.
Makes me think of Vayda Sultenfuss from My Girl! But without the "y" I might say Vaa-daa.

Vay-da, but I do like the spelling Veda instead if that's how it's pronounced - more intuitive I think.

VAY-duh. Indeed wouldn't have said Vaaa-da. Sounds like earth cadet pronounced with a boston accent.

I'd pronounce it like everybody else, Vay-da. But I'd spell it Veda.

I would think "Vah-duh." I like it but I LOVE Veda if you want the pronunciation to be "vay."

I would think Vay-da and agree with pp that the more common spelling is Veda. I think it's a beautiful name that is unique but not too trendy or too far out there. Love it!

There's an indian food called vada, pronounced Vah-dah. It's on every indian menu so I definitely associate it with that.

love it! but like anagram and sandy and several other pp's, when I see "Vada", in my head I hear "VAHH-duh". when I see "Veda" in my head I hear "VAY-duh". my understanding is that the root of the name, at least as I know it, is the Sanskrit rigvedas? or maybe you had a different root in mind? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rigveda
one of the three ayurvedic doshas is Vata, pronounced "VAHH-tah", and when I first saw Vada I thought it was a misspelling of that.

@LCTBQE: yes, this is what I think of with Veda. I would pronounce it Vee-da because of the Sanskrit! We thought about Vaida And though it's not the original spelling, it would make it easier to pronounce and identify that way

Anya is DH #1 choice and he may get his way lol! I want to bring a couple top names into delivery and decide when we meet her. My only real requirement is a strong first name and I think all three embody that ideal.

Thanks for all your responses Bees! I think we will be happy with any of these choices come August. Of course, they will all be saved for #2 if this one is indeed a boy, and don't worry, that one was much easier to decide on

@mrschickpea: yeah, Vaida would definitely be easier with the substitute-teacher pronunciation factor jealous that you have your boy name, we are hopeless on ours!
