Have any of you had issues with your incision healing? with my first c-section it healed perfectly with no issues whatsoever. This time around has been different, most of the incision healed fine but theres a small section at the end that seems to still be open because it oozes slightly and doesnt look healed. at 4 weeks I called my Dr and went in for a check up. they cleaned the area and put fresh strips, and now over a week later it is still oozes very slightly. So I am going in again today for another check up. I see other moms posting about this online but wondered if any of you on here have experienced this.
when they looked at it last week they said it didnt look infected or anything and just needed more time. I just really really want this incision to fully close up and heal!!

I had the same issue as you. My first incision healed really nicely, but my second actually opened up at the one end and took FOREVER to heal. It was almost 6 weeks by the time it stopped oozing something. That spot scarred more and still feels a little funny today. I'm 13 months PP.

@Mrsbells: keep it dry! and air it out as much as possible. Mine had that plus a little gap in the middle that was oozy and it took 8 weeks to close up. I had to air it out a ton, and keep it dry, it's moisture that is preventing the healing. The doc checked and cleared it for infection and it just needed time. Once healed make sure to massage it as much as possible to keep it loose and free.

YES. Both of mine took 8 weeks to heal- my first one was open on one end and my husband had to shove gauze into it daily for 8 weeks until it healed. The second time it was open at both ends, also had to do wound care daily. It was awful and scary. Yours sounds like it might heal up quickly though if your OB didn't recommend wound care.

Mine did the same thing. First c section no problems healing. 2nd one took forever, especially one spot at the end. And that spot opened up again too.

Mine got infected and also leaked in one spot (the two things were unrelated). I got antibiotics just over a week after surgery and the infection cleared up quickly thankfully. For the draining I went to the er as well and the doctor who saw me was a woman and she said that she had the same thing happen with her scar and it is very common. I thought my scar had torn open, but she said sometimes a pocket of fluid is trapped or forms behind it and needs to drain. She said that it happened to her again at 18 months pp which freaked me out. She didn't do anything for it, just said keep it clean and let it drain and change the dressing frequently. Mine only drained for two days and then it was done and started healing. Once it stopped draining I made sure I didn't keep any bandage over it. After two weeks I had no issues and a year out the scar is hardly there.

The doctor looked at it and pressed in it a bit. She mentioned that it's just slow to heal because for some reason its uneven
the good neww is that it isn't infected she put new strips on that section ans i'm hoping for the best!

@ShootingStar: yeah it sounds like in many cases is thr corners that heal last -
@Mrsbells: the steri strips were a huge help for keeping it supported and closed sort of. My ob had removed them after I went in for him to look at it, but the er doctor put new ones on and gave me more and I kept them on for over a week because they didn't come off in the shower and they were helping I felt. It was weird, I had dissolving stitches, but felt like the thing would rip apart if I wasn't careful!
Glad there was no infection.
