@MrsT927: congrats and welcome! I found out I was pregnant on the 8th too!!!

    So fun!
We told both of our parents, but are trying to keep it from the rest of the family for a little while. Christmas is going to be tough!!

I like to enjoy a glass or two of wine at family events so I'm affraid it will be a dead giveaway if I'm not drinking.

@kodybear: oops - forgot to mention that my appointment on the 6th is an ultrasound too! (eeeek so nervous - already having trouble sleeping about it)

    @BakerBee: changed it!

@MrsT927: at my christmas work party i was like 1 of 3 people (out of like 30) who didn't drink. then again during a lunch with coworkers i was one of the only ones who didn't drink. i think i'm being obvious, but then again, i work with mostly males so maybe they have no clue! maybe you could fill it with sparkling cider? or say you have a headache already? or just hold the glass? hehe no one said anything to me but i was gonna just say i had a headache

@MrsT927 @KodyBear -- at my office's Christmas party I had someone legitimately call me out for not drinking. It was surprisingly a guy and his wife told him to leave me alone (thank God). Moving forward I plan to have a cup of wine but just not ever drink it. The headache idea is really smart! You could always say you are feeling kind of fluish - which I'm sure is a little true anyways!

    I like the antibiotics/medication excuse!

We'll be at a big family event this weekend, but it likely wont be booze heavy so I doubt anyone will notice. I'm not much of a drinker anyway. NYE could be interesting though, I may just take a non-sip and say I don't like it (which is normal for me)

I'm worried about my family though! My coworkers are a little easier to trick, but my sister-in-laws and extended family are much more attentive to those details. I might try the fake-cocktail, or empty beer bottle trick. Hopefully they don't call me out even if they suspect something. I'm terrible at lieing and the pregnancy grin is sooooo hard to hide!

@MrsT927: Pregnancy grin - love it! Such a good description of how I feel whenever anyone is around!

@MrsT927: congrats and welcome! pregnancy grin....hilarious and spot on!

@BakerBee: i cant believe a dude called you out! love that his wife came to your rescue.

i made it through the office party with a "vodka tonic" (it's a big party, so easy enough). at a small family party monday night i claimed a headache... on christmas eve (at my house) i plan to have a "white zin spritzer" (i.e. some pink grapefruit soda i bought)...not obvious to the IL's, but that won't fly with my family on christmas day, they know i'd never go near something like that in real life! i was pregnant with DS at christmas 2 years ago and when i made the announcement a month later, everyone told me they knew but were nice enough not to call me out on it, haha.

None of my family or friends are big drinkers so I don't have to worry about anyone being suspicious about me not drinking. Now, hopefully morning sickness isn't too bad b/c that's hard to hide! And something I know my mom would call me out on.

  14. chibee

@Reese: not for a while! I had a miscarriage back on September and it was really tough having to tell everyone I miscarried (we were so excited we told our families right away). So that traumatized me a bit - I'm wanting to hold out a long time, like way past the first trimester.

@chibee: So sorry. That is what I am worried about too.... I hope I will feel a bit better/more confident after the US and Beta tests..

Maybe we can all get in a time machine and fast forward to the 2nd tri?

I'm feeling a little sicker today. It had been tapering off over the weekend and earlier this week, but today my seabands are back on! Anyone else?

  17. chibee

    pear / 1974 posts

@Mrs.Someone: is it weird that i wish i felt sick? i'm so nervous for this pregnancy i would welcome morning sickness with a parade.

  18. mrskc

    bananas / 9357 posts

@Mrs.Someone: I felt a little nauseous yesterday but today I feel fine. It's still got me worried that I'm not sick like I was last time.

@chibee: I wish I was sick too! It would at least make me feel better that I know things are progressing. I had really bad morning sickness with #1 and so far I've just had very slight nausea. We are still really early tho. I think typically morning sickness starts between 6-8 weeks.

  19. Mrs.Someone

    pomelo / 5228 posts

@chibee: Not weird at all! I'm actually glad its back today, I was getting a little nervous on the days that it was better.

@mrskc: According to Dr. Google, when our symptoms fade away a bit, it can be caused by our bodies getting used to the hormones. That made me feel a little better.

  20. LBee

    pomegranate / 3895 posts

@mrskc @chibee: Be careful what you wish for - I said that yesterday on this board and I just almost lost my lunch seconds before I had to walk into a client meeting. I was frantically running around the office asking for crackers (luckily no one seemed to think anything of it).

Finger and toes crossed for everyone!

Maybe we should do something fun to get our minds off worrying (at least for a little while)? Like everyone could check the Chinese gender chart and we can say what it says we are having and if we have any feelings already?? Just a thought. Could be totally nerdy.

Mine says BOY... but the Bump one (which is supposedly less accurate because it doesn't calculate your "lunar age") says GIRL. TMI alert... based on the plethora of gas I suddenly have, I have to believe a boy must be in there because a little girl wouldn't be this gross!

  21. mrskc

    bananas / 9357 posts

@Mrs.Someone: that's reassuring and makes sense.

@BakerBee: great idea. I need something to keep my mind off worrying. I forgot about the chinese gender chart! Mine says BOY. It was correct for me with DS too. But I'm actually hoping it's a girl. I'm already assuming it's a girl too.

  22. LBee

    pomegranate / 3895 posts

@mrskc: I think Mama's intuition is better than any chart

  23. Mrs.Someone

    pomelo / 5228 posts

@BakerBee: Love this idea! And your assumption that girls wouldn't be so gross

Both BabyCenter and The Bump say girl for me I have no intuition yet, but I've always thought of my first child as a girl. I'd be happy either way, but I want at least one girl at some point. And FWIW, Cheri22 said girl too, but she was a month off on this one.

  24. kodybear

    pear / 1616 posts

@Mrs.Someone: no morning sickness here yet. alittle queasy monday but i think it was due to someones bad driving..

@BakerBee: love the idea! it says girl for me. it was wrong for DD tho. so maybe boy? so far the pregnancies have been pretty much the same, granted its only been a week... i think the next few weeks will be more telling. i think each woman has a different pregnancy based on the gender. so if my pregnancy is the same as last time i'm definitely predicting girl, otherwise boy.

  25. sera_87

    pomegranate / 3604 posts

@BakerBee: apparently there's an alternate chart to the traditional one. The traditional one says boy for me while the alternate says girl.

It was right for DS but that time both charts said boy.

    Oh! I know! It's a HUMAN!

@mrskc: @Mrs.Someone: @kodybear: @chibee: @buffalove: Thanks ladies for the good vibes! They worked!

Just got back from my ultrasound and saw the gestational sac and a tiny little yolk sac (I'm 5 weeks 2 days today--so that's apparently normal), and most importantly, IN THE RIGHT PLACE! So we've ruled out ectopic--hooray!

Looks like I have a corpus luteum cyst on my right ovary, so that could account for the "ovulation pains" I've been feeling (some of them bad!) since my BFP. Still too early to see the heartbeat, but I'm just fine knowing it's snug and in the uterus!

Now I'll be able to relax and enjoy our trip (though I am sooo tired the trekking part may have to morph into day hiking!).

@BakerBee: what a great idea! Both of mine say girl. And in my heart, truly, i feel the same. I've always envisioned a little girl for me. Too bad for DH - he wants a boy SO bad!

@mrskc: you're right, it's ridiculously early for symptoms. I'm only at 4w 3d today. Time has literally stopped.

@stratosphere: woo hoo! so great to hear! enjoy your trip and try to take it easy!

@BakerBee: Fun idea! I've had a suspicion that mines a BOY since I found out...I have no idea why. The gender chart supports it too! I will honestly be shocked if it's a girl, but excited too

Woke up feeling super nauseous this morning. Came very close to throwing up. Bringing back lots of memories of the last time I was pregnant. Now that my breakfast has settled in my stomach, I feel much better. Just got to keep a little food in my belly throughout the day. I stashed some crackers in my purse today. As much as I hate feeling nauseous, I feel so much better that something must be progressing to make me feel sick.

@sera_87: I looked up the alternate way and mine says girl.

@stratosphere: great update! yay! I cannot wait to get an ultrasound done.

Just came from ultrasound - there's only one, it's in the right place & it has a lovely flickering heartbeat !!!

Measuring right on track too - making my edd august 6.

sadly, i think coffee is making me nauseous i don't know how i'll survive without it!

I'm nauseous today too! Can't figure out what feels worse - the constant threat of puking or the gas bubble cramps. Oh the joys I do keep reminding myself that feeling bad means things are good on the inside.

The gender chart says it's a GIRL....but I figure that might only be 50% right

    @sera_87: yay! Great update!!!

@kodybear: I'm ok with coffee still, but I couldn't stomach it when I was pregnant with DS. The smell made me gag. I didn't start drinking it again until well into my 2nd trimester. I'm going to miss coffee if it makes me sick this time.

@chibee: @T.H.O.U.: I seriously that you lovelies are here. We miss you like crazy in April, but between you and me, August is the best month to be born (DH and I have this convo all the time-he's an April baby, and I'm an August baby, so I'm partial )

@T.H.O.U.: yay!! congrats!! glad you had a great appt today! i'll add you to the list!

@mrskc: i'm starting to think this one is a boy, because i don't remember coffee being an issue for dd! altho i didn't drink it in the 1st trimester last time so that could be the diff.
