@mrskc: Wow, it looks like I'm behind on some of the arrivals!! We need some baby girls in this mix!

38+6 and no progress. I'm hoping for next Friday night (her due date). Any time after that will be fine by me. I keep waking up in a panic that my water broke. Nope - just sweaty... haha.

I kinda wish she'd be born Sept 1 because I loooove sapphires (I'm a Sept baby), but I want her to be the baby of her class so I'm also hoping she's born before Sept 1 because that's our cutoff date for school.

How you know your pregnancy hormones are going crazy (and that you're also a mom) : you start crying at work when you see this image

@swurlygurl: yeah, check out the gold thread for some announcements from yesterday!

Nothing happening for me today. 39 + 5 today I really thought yesterday was going to be the day with how regular I was getting contractions (every 10 minutes) for a few hours then they just petered off and never came back. So disappointing.

@swurlygurl: Haha, I am due the 23rd but if she is going to be late I wold like her to wait until 9/1 because I love sapphires and my husband and I had our first date on 9/1. Although, I have gotten pretty uncomfortable lately so sooner is my true preference

@mrskc: That must be so frustrating. I am 38 + 5 but have had zero signs of labor. I have to admit I am getting a little anxious.

@msmug: yay, hope it all goes well! The panic will go away once you have those sweet boys in your arms.

Sorry I've been so absent! Newborn, MIL in town, etc... Eventually I'll post about the birth and sweet E all is well so far, but whoa on the hormone crash!

@msmug: Wishing you a smooth delivery!

We were told we could go home this afternoon and were thrilled to only have to stay a day and a half at the hospital! Baby boy is doing great and besides my major sleep deprivation, everything is going pretty smoothly. It is still somewhat surreal that he is finally here!

Hoping those who are playing the waiting game and due soon (or overdue) go into labor very soon!!!

    Hi ladies,
Hope all of you whose babies have arrived are doing well. I was wondering if someone who has gold would be willing to update the babies that have arrived. No details necessary, just that the babies are here. Curiosity is killing me but I am not gold. If not I understand.

As for me, my due date is Saturday but this baby is showing no signs of wanting to arrive The only positive is that Friday is my last day of work. YAY!!

I posted my birth story yesterday for those of you interested. But short version is my water broke on Saturday around 3:30 pm (my due date) while walking around the mall with my mom. We were talking about how her water broke with me and mine seriously broke at that exact moment. It was just a trickling at first. I went to the bathroom and we went to another store and then I started to feel some gushes! eeek! It was not ideal to have my water break in public!

I headed home and my mom took DS home with her. Contractions started. DH and I packed the bags and hung out. My doula arrived at 6 pm. Contractions picked up around 9 pm and at 10 pm I decided I wanted to go to the hospital.

Arrived at hospital 10:30 pm. Only 3 cm. I was admitted since my water broke. Labored with the help of my doula and DH. Things picked up. I started to shake and I got nauseous and threw up. Started feeling the urge to push. Nurse checked me and I was at 8 cm. A few more contractions and the urge kept getting stronger with each one. I couldn't hold back any longer and I could feel her coming out. Doc came quickly and with a few pushes, she was born at 2:23 am! She was 7 lbs 4 oz and 20.5 inches long. Missed her due date by 2 hours!

@mrskc: Thanks for the updated list! Also, thank you for posting your birth story. This is my first so I am a bit nervous and I love to hear people's birth stories but I know labor differs for everyone. Eek!

    Congrats on your little girl!

@beckysue: Are you going crazy too?! I'm getting soooo anxious! My due date is TOMORROW :O

I love seeing the babies on the FB page - sooo much cuteness!

I am feeling... great? I've been working a ton, but I have plenty of energy, no pains, no contractions... it's a little ridiculous that I'm supposed to have a baby tomorrow...

My stomach and intestines have been giving me problems though. I had plain oatmeal for breakfast, a plain turkey sandwich for lunch, and a plain baked potato with a touch of butter - sooo much gas/bloating/heartburn. Those are the most basic foods I could possibly eat! Hopefully it's a sign... haha

@swurlygurl: I am very ready. I have been pretty uncomfortable for the past week so I would just like baby to come soon. They did an ultrasound a week and a half ago and estimated her to be 8.2lbs so I am a little nervous about that as well. My last day at work is tomorrow and I am hoping I don't waste too much leave waiting on baby to arrive but I just needed a definite end date in order to get all my tasks completed.

also, loving all the babies on fb!!

@beckysue: Oh dang, I just had my appt, got a bonus sono, and forgot to ask about guestimated weight! My sono 2 weeks ago will have her at 8.5 lbs tomorrow via projected growth
I hope you don't waste too much Maternity Leave either - that's precious time!

I scheduled induction date for Thursday (40+6). I have some seriously selfish reasons and am kinda feeling bad for rushing it, I know others wait closer to 42 weeks. BUT, Kindergarten cut-off here is Aug 31, and I would really like the option to send her if I think she's ready. Also, my med plan year starts over 09/01, and I already had to pay an extra $2,500 because L was born 01/14 - I don't want to do that again!! (Meeting out of pocket insurance costs already prior to each birth). And third, I'm planning on going back to work 09/29, so I want a full 4 weeks of Maternity leave. Waiting any longer would mean less than 4 weeks

I know a couple extra days in the womb won't have any affect on her when she's 30, but still feeling some guilt about scheduling to kick her out! Hopefully she comes on her own within the next week

@swurlygurl: Don't feel guilty for scheduling your induction date. Your reasons are all very valid and your baby is fully developed at this point! I will send positive thoughts that she decides to come on her own before you get to that point though. I am hoping to schedule my induction by 40+ 6 as well but I will find out what my Dr thinks at my next appt on Monday (if I make it that far )

@swurlygurl: I hear you on the induction guilt. But I'm sure if it was "unsafe" your ob won't agree so don't feel guilty!

@beckysue: @locavore_mama: Thanks girls! Deep down I know it's fine... Just having some denial about the end I think, haha

@T.H.O.U.: that is so good to hear! As soon as I scheduled it I'm now thinking about all the horrible stories I've heard. I need to remember people still have great inductions too. Plus, it might be nice to wake up and calmly head to the hospital!

@beckysue: my EDD is 8/27. I think we would've been fine waiting till 40 weeks. But two OB s told us they didn't think I'll make it to 39 weeks. And here we are. As a result I'm kinda disappointed and just a tad depressed about it!

Hopefully my Ob on Monday offers a membrane sweep! I think it helped things a long the first time.

Congrats to all of the August mamas so far! I had my baby girl on 8/10 after 43 hours of back labor. I wanted a natural birth and ended up with an epidural after 2 nights of no sleep. She was sunny side up but she turned as I was pushing! I was blessed with only 25 mins of pushing. It was by far the most amazing experience of my life and I've almost forgotten how much the back labor hurt. Good luck to everyone still waiting! I wish you all healthy babies and healthy mamas!

Okay, baby, it's time to come out now!! Everyone at work keeps asking me all the same 'is it time yet?!' questions. Normally I'm a good sport, but I can only take it so much longer!

Also, MIL & FIL are going out of town Wed afternoon for almost a week - they are our main baby-plan!! We have 2 other decent options, but they're not as good as MIL & FIL because it would involve us having to wake up L if something starts happening in the middle of the night, and if she needs to stay the night I don't think she'd be anywhere close to as comfortable at these other places

Unless it happens today, I hope she makes it to induction day, and then I have a quick induction and DH can get her from daycare by 5... haha!

@T.H.O.U.: How long did your inductions take? Any chance of an induction starting at 7 and being done and transferred to recovery by 5?

  31. T.H.O.U.

@swurlygurl: one of mine was 20 hrs the other 30 hrs. I would not count on being done by 5! Sorry!

Hi everyone! Congrats to all whose babies arrived! I had my baby Jack on my due date, 8/20 (i had it wrong all this time, at my 38 week check up i was told my due date was 8/20, not 8/21). I went into labor the night of 8/19 and had Jack at 3:06pm, 7lbs 15oz and 20 inches. Labor and delivery went very smooth - epidural saved my life and pushing was hard! Sadly, he had to be whisked away to the NICU for some breathing troubles and suspicions of infection but he was doing fine 12 hours later but since he is on antibiotics they are keeping him there until Tuesday evening (tomorrow). I have been seeing him every day morning and night and he is adorable and I am in love, but this has been the toughest time of my life.

Good luck to all still yet to meet your babies - I wish you a very uneventful and successful labor and delivery!!

@chibee: Hope you guys get discharged today with no problems!!

Um, baby sister, please get out of me NOW. I'm doing fine I suppose, but I am mentally over it. She was due 4 days ago and I'm tired of waiting! Thank goodness I have a schedule induction or else I'd really be losing my mind... I'm ready to see my babyyyy. I saw a bunch of hair on my ultrasound last Friday, so I hope she has some - L was bald for soooo long

Wow - congrats to all the August mamas! I loved this board so much and it helped me so much to read along with all of your journeys through pregnancy. I started a very high-stress, senior-level job in early June and started working very long hours so didn't have much time to post here, but still followed along when I could.

My due date was 8/18 but I ended up having my baby girl on 7/30, three weeks early! It really caught us by surprise and we had about two weeks' worth of tasks left to do when she joined us, so I feel like I'm just now catching up, six weeks later!

Baby was breech at our 36 week appointment, despite all my best efforts at all the non-medical techniques to encourage her to flip head-down. So in order to try my best to avoid a c-section (which my doctor would schedule for 39 weeks if not sooner due to my gestational diabetes) we scheduled a procedure for the 37 weeks mark to attempt to turn her, called an "external cephalic version."

Long story short, though the "version" was successful and the baby did turn head-down, my water broke during the procedure and I started bleeding vaginally. This was apparently a complication during a version that my doctors had not seen before! Contractions started perhaps an hour after my water broke/bleeding began but they were pretty sporadic and I was only dilated a few centimeters. It was determined that the bleeding was being caused by a placental abruption and as the bleeding increased it became a huge concern that the placenta could pull away further at any time and I could lose too much blood and the baby could lose oxygen. It was no longer a safe option to try to labor naturally as I'd hoped, and when the bleeding picked up pace and I passed an enormous clot I agreed to an urgent c-section. Baby was not in distress at that point, and the doctors wanted to get her out before I lost too much blood and needed a transfusion...or worse.

Luckily we made the decision to do a c-section before it was an absolute emergency, so we had the luxury of the 15 minutes it took to allow me to be conscious with an epidural. While this was NOT the birth I had planned/hoped for, I was incredibly grateful that baby was born healthy (though quite a bit earlier than I'd hoped, at 37 weeks--I was still so comfortable at that point and had so much left to do that I wanted very badly to go to 40 weeks or more!) and I ended up healthy too, not needing a transfusion after all.

I am head over heals in love with my baby girl and breastfeeding has been going really well. She is six weeks old now (though developmentally she's probably closer to four or five weeks old to be honest), not a smiley baby (in fact, she is pretty serious and I joke she has deeper frown lines than 35-yr-old me!) and in a very fussy stage and even so, I'm completely gaga over her--which surprises me, as I was pretty concerned about my lack of maternal feelings up until the moment she was born, pretty much! I am proof that you can be a very definite "non-baby person" and end up being insanely in love with your own baby, proving the cliche to be true! I suppose those hormones cooked up by Mother Nature are very effective after all--even with a c-section, which had been one of my original concerns.

Thanks again to all the ladies in the August Mamas thread for your support and inspiration!
