I can't believe we (or atleast one of us!) can already start posting over here! It is getting so close! I am totally jealous of all you early August Mamas!

Looks like 4 of us can get this thread started! How are you ladies doing @.twist.:, @Jennyg: and @skipper2010:?
pineapple / 12802 posts
@Alivoo01: tiiiired! Haha actually, besides still trying to heal up I'm pretty good! How are you?
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@.twist.: My lady bits hurt when I've done too much walking, and I feel like it hurts more this week than it did at the hospital! what the crap.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@Alivoo01: argh. I hear ya. I still cannot sit in a vehicle properly or for long. Honestly the only places that are comfortable to sit are soft couches, and laying down. It's making me so irritable. I feel like I could be a better mom and wife if my lady parts would just stop aching.
I also have a UTI so I'm on antibiotics for that too. I just feel so broken down there.
nectarine / 2530 posts
@.twist.: UTIs suck, I hope the antibiotics start working for you soon :(.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@StrawberryBee: thanks! They have sorta started to work, now if my butt and incision could heal, that would be awesome.
@Alivoo01: also, tmi question, do you have a achey pressure around where you pee? Maybe it's from the uti, but every once in a while I get a lot of pressure right there.
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@.twist.: Oh no!!! Talk about when it rains, it pours!! Hope the antibiotics kick in soon to help manage the UTI so it's not so overwhelming for you. I'm sure your hubby understands.
And yes on sitting on super soft surfaces. Even the couch hurts sometimes unless I'm leaning back and sitting more on my bum than directly on my lady parts. If I have to sit on my lady parts like at the dining table, I grab a small pillow to help buffer the pain. Are you taking any pain meds?
I forgot to mention these night sweats are horrible!! I don't feel hot, but when I wake up to feed DS, I'm like holy moly! I'm drenched!!! Wonder when this will stop?
Yes on the achey feeling while peeing. Sometimes, it burns too. And if I need to pee, I need to go NOW. I feel like I can't hold it.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@Alivoo01: i have been on an every 4 hour rotation of Advil and then Tylenol and then Advil and then Tylenol. I'm honestly starting to wonder if I need to stop? I just have such a hard time dealing with the pain without the meds. I've tried.
Night sweats haven't been too bad for me. Although, I always feel like I'm running hot. Maybe I just haven't noticed the difference. Haha
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@.twist.: My OB prescribed me 600mg of ibuprofen and Norco which is a combination of hydrocodone and motrin. I take ibuprofen when I can't take the pain anymore. I've taken Norco once, but the hydrocodone knocks me out and I struggle to wake up for feedings so I quit taking it.
The hospital also sent me home with some perineum ice packs, some dermoplast, tucks pad, and epifoam. I use a tuck pad once in awhile also to help ease the pain.
clementine / 912 posts
Hi ladies! My recovery is going remarkably well. I'm still taking Motrin twice a day because my stitches are uncomfortable in the evening. Like itchy uncomfortable.
@Alivoo01: I'm with you on the night sweats. Holy moly!! I wake up to feed Jackson and can not believe how sweaty I am. I usually end up changing into a new shirt or tank in the middle of the night.
I've been sleeping on the couch the last two nights because Jackson is back on a bili blanket. We decided it would be easier to just keep it plugged in downstairs. This way he can sleep and be changed in his pack and play and be feed in rocker recliner moved next to the pack and play. We have had to go to the hospital every day to get his blood drawn. I'm so over watching them prick his little heels.
How's sleep going for you ladies??
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@JennyG: Poor Jackson!!! Hopefully his bilirubin count goes down soon and no more heel pricks. Sucks that you have to sleep on the couch. Hope it's comfy at least, and that it's temporary. Convenience at this point is definitely a big plus.
Sleep is going well for me. I've been fortunate that DS is a great sleeper, even though he fusses a lot. He'll settle back down himself or a quick paci will do the trick.
My boobs are starting to leak/get engorged so I'm pumping more often than I was before. And my output in volume is all over the place. No idea what's causing the difference.

@.twist.: @Alivoo01: @JennyG: Hi Girls, I didn't realize this thread was here Guess I'll join the club.
My ladybits hurts sooo bad and I didn't tear I can't imagine what that is like. My one side is sooo swollen and when I go to the bathroom it feels like the pain of a thousand knives on that side.. but it doesn't look like there is any open area so I dunno. I was kinda hoping it would be like a week and then healed for the most part.. but doesn't sound like it based on your conversations.
I'm super lucky cuz right now she sleeps so good, even at night. She wakes up every 3.5-4 hours to feed and doesn't fuss inbetween. Granted it's been 3 nights and I know that can change but at least for now it's been good.
My husband wants me to start pumping so he can feed, but I'm worried about nipple confusion as its only day 4. What are you guys doing for feeding?
pineapple / 12802 posts
@JennyG: sleep is sporadic! He usually sleeps about 2.5 hours between feelings. He hasn't slept longer than that and often times he sleeps less than that. Anyone figured out any tricks to make them sleep longer stretches?
@Alivoo01: my supply is up and down too. One day I pumped 5 oz in half an hour. Now I am pumping 2 oz in the same time.
@MrsB2012: my lady bits hurt so badly! And like you, the one side is much more sore than the other. I am not sure if its the episiotomy scar or not, but it is so so so sore. I'm moving into week 3 and its only barely feeling a little better.
As for pumping/nursing, I've been bottle feeding and nursing since he was born and he hasn't had any confusion.
pomelo / 5326 posts
Stopped by to see how you girls are dong. Now I'm scared for my lady bits. Hope you all feel better soon. Do Tucks pads help at all? Everyone says they are wonderful. Can't wait to join the chat!
nectarine / 2466 posts
@delight: frozen tuck pads are the biggest post partum delight seriously stock up
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@.twist.: 5oz?!?!?! Holy cow!!! I haven't come close to that with BOTH boobs! LOL!
@MrsB2012: I'm currently EP because DS was too little to latch on at birth, and NICU told me to pump instead. We're trying to nurse before each session. He'll latch on and suck for a bit, but gets frustrated nothing is coming out as quickly as a bottle so when he's done trying, we bottle feed pumped milk. So far no problems.
@delight: I agree that tucks pads are amazing! The hospital gave me perineum ice packs that look like a long pad. They fit into my underwear/over my pad and I put tucks pads on top of the ice pack. However, upon discharge, the nurses says I need to quit using the ice packs and start using sitz baths.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@Alivoo01: haha it was just that one time (from both boobs)! I've never seen that quantity again. Sadly.
Why did they tell you to stop icing?
kiwi / 597 posts
Hey ladies! This has been a wild week! I spent 5 days in the hospital because of my c-section and have been busy spending the last few days adjusting to life with a newborn. I wish I could say sleep was good, but he's up every few hours at night and often times awake for 1-2 hours at a time. People tell me to sleep when he sleeps, but there's just too much to do! He's lucky he's so darn cute.
@.twist.: I wish I had a trick for longer stretches of sleep, but sadly I don't. lol My LO likes to cluster feed right now so that's not happening over here. haha
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@.twist.: The nurses told me icing was to help reduce swelling while heat helps soothes soreness. I was on ice the moment after I gave birth till I was discharged. The nurses packed a sitz bath and told me to start using that when I got home. It helps cleanse my stitches after I pee anyhow, and it's soo soothing. I skipped a day of the sitz bath and found the area down south itchy/uncomfortable. If you don't have a sitz bath, a warm peri bottle to rinse off does the same thing, but it doesn't help with hemorrhoids if you have them.

I have some 'sour' areas on my labia that burn when I go to the bathroom. They're also very swollen. I found that taking a tuck pad and applying coconut oil has helped tremendously. Like almost 70% better I'd say. I also do the same to the hemorrhoids and they're way smaller. I've used coconut oil for lots of different things over the last few months and it's helped with everything, so I thought I'd try it down there and it's really been a lot better. Just incase you guys are wanting to try other things. It's helped me
We have a service in town where the public health nurses do a home visit the day after you're released from the hospital to check baby and see how you are doing. They found that Brooklyn hadn't gained any weight since leaving the hospital so they've been over 4 times in a week to monitor her. The nurse seemed very concerned as she is still basically the same as her discharge weight. Brooklyn only likes to eat every 4 or so hours from the end of the last feed so they have me feeding her every 3 hours from the start of a feed. It's hard because she doesn't want to eat that often so they say to get a cold cloth and apply it to her. I don't really agree with it because she's so happy and content all the time. She rarely cries, she's so smiley. So the weekend nurse called me today and yesterday and she seemed much less concerned and didn't feel the need to come out and weigh her, and said just see what she is at her appt on Tuesday.
The nurse said that Brooklyn isn't taking in enough milk on each feed so they told me to pump after each feed and then cup feed her an extra 20mls. I was pumping and pumping and only getting 2.5mls then I realized my pump isn't working properly haha. So we're going to buy a new one today I think.
It's just so hard, to have one nurse say she's concerned, to have another nurse say it's fine and I'm doing everything right. Then have my mother's instinct and thinking she's just fine. It's not like she's losing weight, she's just only gaining small amounts, I'm sure she'll have a growth spurt soon.
Do you guys have any concerns with your little ones? How do you handle people telling you one thing and then you feeling different? I have her first Dr appt on Tuesday so we'll see what the Dr says, I'm sure I'll feel better after that.
Hope eberyone is enjoying snuggles and love. Who knew how much love you could feel for one little being so quickly hey?

@MrsB2012: I'm sorry you're getting conflicting opinions from the nurses. If your instincts are telling you she's fine, then chances are she is. Like you said, she's not losing weight and she's a happy baby so that all sounds positive! You're doing a great job mama!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@MrsB2012: Thanks for the tip on tucks and coconut oil! I didn't get hemorrhoids during labor, but they showed up yesterday - ugh!!
I agree that if Brooklyn isn't losing weight, she's probably fine! How did you figure out your pump wasn't working properly?
Are you ladies following the vaccination schedule the CDC publishes or delaying them?

Glad I can finally join in on this convo We were discharged this afternoon, so we're home now and M is seeing peacefully in the PNP...we'll see how long that lasts.
I have a sorta TMI question for y'all--how soon after you delivered did you have your first bowel movement? It's been a little over 48 hours for me and I haven't had one. I am scared to go! I don't have any hemmrrhoids as far as I know, but I did have an episiotomy. I just took a stool softener, so I am hoping that helps.
@MrsB2012: Sorry you're getting conflicting info. I agree with PP about following your gut and that if she isn't losing weight then she's probably fine!
@Alivoo01: We're planning to follow the CDC schedule.
nectarine / 2466 posts
@lawbee11: glad you can join us! Congrats on the babe, it's just so amazing when you're home with them. I had my first movement I think 3 days post partum. I ended up getting Metamucil pills and still take them to help keep the hemorrhoids down. It wasn't that bad just take softeners and keep hydrated.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@lawbee11: I think it was about 3 days after. I had an episiotomy too and no roids. I did however get some Fischer tears...
I haven't been actively taking softeners, which I should be! It's still kinda scary 4 weeks out. So keep taking softeners!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@lawbee11: I had my first bowel movement 3 days later. Taking the stool softeners definitely make it easier/more comfortable. I didn't have 'roids during delivery either, but got them just a couple days ago. Ugh! Thankfully, they're not bad but still!
kiwi / 597 posts
@Alivoo01: I plan on following my pediatricians/cdc schedule for vaccines.
@lawbee11: My first BM was 5 days PP. I think it took longer because I had a c-section. I was beginning to get worried so I took 1 dose of miralax and that did the trick! Congrats on being home with little miss Molly. Isn't it so surreal bringing baby home?
pineapple / 12802 posts
@Alivoo01: I think I just got one too. So unfair. Lol
Well ladies, I did the unthinkable. I looked. It's been 4 weeks and all this talk about why they don't check you sooner than 6 weeks made me start to panic. I do my best to keep things clean down there without looking, but after today I realize there are more folds than there used to be and I really need to be looking down there and looking while cleaning down there. It really wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but damn, it sure doesn't look the same any more...

@.twist.: Aww it will! Everyone says it really does go back to normal in time.
How's everyone doing? Things are pretty good here. I was a bit of an emotional wreck last week due to some whacky hormones, but I feel better now. I was crying over EVERYTHING. Happy tears, sad tears, stressed tears....When he turned a week old I bawled my eyes out because I felt like he was getting too big too fast! So glad that passed! lol
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@.twist.: I took the plunge (and a deep, deep breath) and looked down south at 2 weeks. Initial reaction - (O_O).
@skipper2010: I'm getting clogged ducts every other day it seems and they're uber painful despite me applying heat and massaging. Sigh.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@skipper2010: things are ok. As far as baby goes things are great. As far as my recovery goes, not so much. The only reason I'm an emotional wreck is because I'm terrified to ... Poo. I just wanna feel normal again!!!
