Yep, my OB gives Tdap in the 3rd tri for all pregnancies, even if you've already had it recently. WA has been a huge outbreak center though.

Ditto. I also got the Tdap through my OB in the 3rd tri. I made my parents, and in-laws get it too since they'll be around the babies the most. Dh still needs to go get his but he'll get it before they arrive (hopefully)

Hi HB! I am sorry to have been MIA for almost 7 months. What are the EDDs of everyone still active on the board? Time has flown by so quickly! I am so anxious about delivery, I am sure everyone is.

Is Anyone going in for an induction of labor? My work schedule is setting me up for having to go in for an induction which is frightening to me, considering the increased risk of so many complications to me and this baby. Contemplating waiting it out or trying to induce naturally, but if I want enough time off with this baby, I may not have a choice!

@msmug: I most likely will ask my mom to get it since she will be living with us for 2-3m to help. Not sure if I'll ask ask the ILs though. MIL has cancer and is already on enough meds as it is. Not sure how the vaccines will interact with her meds. Definitely something to look into.

@Claire.Peonies: my OB doesn't schedule inductions unless there is a medical reason. So as of now, no scheduled induction for me.
That being said with my first we scheduled an induction 39 weeks for 40 weeks because of how far along I was and how uncomfortable I was. I ended up going into labor naturally 2 days early.

@Claire.Peonies: Welcome back! My doctor may decide to induce me, she said she will give me an answer next week (at my 37w appointment). The reasoning would be because of my history of loss and autoimmune issues. If she does decide to induce, I'm going to be trying every natural method under the sun to get baby out on his own.

@Claire.Peonies: hi! I do think even if they induce you for non medical reasons the earliest they would do it would be 39 weeks. I'm not sure for scheduling reasons a week would really get you much.

I think the heat is getting to me...

Walked out of my Dr appointment yesterday in tears.
Long story short, I am tired of waiting for 2 hours to see my Dr for 5 minutes. I've been working 60 hour weeks, so taking time out of my work schedule is difficult. DH is out of town this week, and after waiting for 2 hours my phone died so I had no way of communicating with daycare how late I was going to be (I didn't even know!) and I know that she had an appointment with her kids that she needed to be able to leave for! It was a mess and I was over it. So, after waiting in the lounge for 1.5 hours, then sitting in the exam room for 30 minutes, I finally just walk out and tell the front desk that I have to leave to get my daughter and I can't wait any longer.

My Dr had just been called away for a delivery right before I walked out, and I was waiting on her NP to see me, but she had her own list of patients to see first. Half an hour later after I finally get home and can plug my phone in, I have a voicemail from my Dr apologizing and asking me to come back in tomorrow. Ugh, I CAN'T! I had to take off early for L's 18 month check up on Tues, then I took off early yesterday for this appointment. I can't take off MORE time a third day. *sigh* I'm just exhausted

BUT, I was supposed to get tested for Group B Strep, which I know is important. I'm hoping to just tell the Dr we can test when I come in next Thurs for my appointment, and cross our fingers I don't deliver too early.

Oh, and it's a minimum 1 hour wait EVERY appointment. 2 hours probably 50% of the time. I think in my 2 pregnancies I've been in and out under an hour maybe... 3 times? SO I am just frustrated with this office

@Claire.Peonies: Glad you're back!! How are you feeling?? I definitely will not be inducing - this baby can stay in as long as she wants. I'm in no hurry, she's much easier inside my belly

@swurlygurl: That's definitely not the heat, that's freaking ridiculous. In what other industry can you leave someone waiting for 2 hours and they not flip their shit? I'm so sorry! Just a few more weeks of dealing with this appointment hell.

  10. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

    @swurlygurl: That is terrible!

Do you have the rest of your appointments scheduled out? Now that we are weekly I asked and they let me scheduled the next 6. I prefer afternoon appointments because I do daycare drop offs so it doesn't alter that schedule. But I know some love the first appointments of the morning. Maybe see if they can get you in around those times.

Also, for the Group B, I think there is a range where you can do it, so I don't think it has to be done right at 35 weeks. They just want to make sure to test before delivery. Take care!

@swurlygurl: Wow a 2 hour wait? Even by my standards that is unacceptable. I usually have to wait 45 mins - an hour for my checkups.

  12. regberadaisy

    GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts

@swurlygurl: I would be VERY upset if I had to wait 2 hours! Is this common at your office? @T.H.O.U.: suggestion of a early morning appointment might help alleviate some of that wait time.

@swurlygurl: ugh how awful!!! 2 hours sounds ridiculous. I try to make the first appt in the morning or the first appt right after lunch. I never have to wait for very long then. Also like thou said, once we knew I would start coming weekly I was able to schedule the next few weeks appts.

  14. Mrs.Someone

    pomelo / 5228 posts

@swurlygurl: Wow, 2 hours is beyond acceptable. Is there an office manager you can talk to about this?

  15. swurlygurl

    honeydew / 7091 posts

    @BakerBee: @T.H.O.U.: @pui: @locavore_mama: @mrskc: @Mrs.Someone: Well I'm glad I'm not just crazy!

I can't do morning appointments - that's when all my meeting appointments are. Lunch-ish appointments are even worse because that's when all the SAHMs seem to want to come, and there are kids running around and delaying the process even more. I have all the rest of my appointments scheduled for Friday afternoons (3:30ish) because DH usually leaves work early enough on Fridays to get L if the visit takes too long. There were just so many extra things happening yesterday and all of this week that put me over the edge.

I knew going into this second pregnancy that she's always running behind. I just love HER soooooo much that I'm willing to put up with it. I guess there's a reason she's so busy - everyone loves her!

I understand that things come up (deliveries, complications, etc) that delay the process - I try really hard to be understanding and not get upset! I just hope my labor and delivery is in the middle of the day this time so I can reap some of that benefit... haha! With L I delivered on a weekend and she wasn't even on call that weekend. SO LAME

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@swurlygurl: The other thing my friend recommended was to go ahead and call them about 30 minutes before your appointment time and ask how far behind they are. If they are an hour behind, it gives you some time to not race out of the office to get over there!

@swurlygurl: waiting for 2 hours is insane! how close is your OB's office to your office/daycare/house? I would definitely speak to the office manager - is it possible to call ahead before you leave to get an estimate of how far she's running behind so you don't have to spend that time waiting in her office? or maybe the office staff could give you a courtesy call to let you know if/when she is running late?

  19. msmug

    apricot / 403 posts

@swurlygurl: no you are definitely not crazy. I get upset if I'm waiting more than 30-45 minutes! 2 hours would have had me going Hulk in the place! You have a lot more patience than I!
Sorry you had to deal with that.

@T.H.O.U.: I haven't looked at the August 2013 PP thread... and now I'm a little scared to look! (but I will..)

Baby 64 is having a good week and making lots of progress. She is almost up to 3 pounds and we are getting excited because her due date is now 5 weeks away. We are hoping that she will come home then or shortly thereafter.

    Just had 38w appointment.

Lost 2lbs since last week. Which means I've gained a grand total of 8lbs total.
BP was cut off high so they retook it 6 times to get an average. My arm still hurts lol. Urine came back negative for protein so yay no preclampsia.
Baby is head down but still pretty high up. (Aka not really engaged in the pelvic area yet). Le sigh.
They don't start cervical checks until 39 weeks. If i lose my mucous plug by then I might ask for one, if not then there's really no point so *shrug*.

Next up is an ultrasound on Tuesday and 39w check up on Friday. Fingers crossed it's my last one!

I had a dr's appointment yesterday - no real news there. I had originally hoped that the baby would come this weekend, but now there's drama with the renters at the house we rent out. They were supposed to be out last Monday, then it was today, and this morning they said "actually, we need to push back to Sunday" It's driving me crazy, but I don't think we can do anything legally. So now I just hope baby stays put until this all taken care of and done.

@sera_87: My blood pressure's been high at every appointment, but I'm certain it's because of my long wait times... haha! Sister is sitting really high too, it's so hard to breathe I remember L never dropped, and after my contractions finally started the nurses had me labor down without pushing for several hours so I didn't wear myself out, since she was SO high.

@JennyPenny: Ugh, that's so frustrating Can't they tell that you don't have the energy to deal with their nonsense?!

Started reading August 2013 Postpartum thread - I'm surprised we only have 1 baby so far! 7 more days until August - AAAHHHH!!

I can't believe I only have 4 weeks left, that is crazyyyy. This pregnancy has flown by crazy fast

ETA: Oh crap - I forgot about all the small joyful PP recovery things like first bowel movement, recovering from tears, night sweats... Maybe I want these next 4 weeks to go slower...

  32. T.H.O.U.

I had my 37 week checkup today. Ahhhh 37 weeks! Holy cow we are all getting so close. They wanted to do a cervical check but I declined.

My doula let me borrow her spinning babies DVD. It has a bunch of different exercises to do to help make sure baby is in a good position for delivery. I'm trying to watch my posture now and I've been trying to do some squats and bouncing/sitting on my yoga ball. Hopefully it will help ensure she's in a good position.

We are all getting closer! Can't wait! My c section for the twins is scheduled for the 15th but the dr said they could come Any time now. And these boys have been kicking/fighting/punching much harder in the last few days!

I still need to pack my hospital bag!

@mrs. 64: praying for baby 64- this sounds like great progress! Can't wait until baby is able to come home. Thinking of all 3 of you. Thank you for keeping us updated

Thank you for the responses! I am working right up to my EDD in order to get the most time off possible, but man it is so energy consuming right now! Sounds like there are some other very pregnant ladies doing the same. I care for pregnant woman doing routine OB appts (hopefully not keeping them waiting for 2 hrs ) and am jealous of those not working!- my threshold for complaining of aches and pains is low. Haha.

I will be 39 wks Monday but have opted out of elective induction. I do inductions routinely, and most of them go just fine, but I feel like the elective inductions are the riskiest. Unless baby needs to come out sooner, forget it! Fx for everyone- for babies to come out as expected and healthy!

I'll check back in when possible! Anyone else nesting like crazy? This nesting business is no joke!

  37. pui

    bananas / 9899 posts

@Claire.Peonies: Yeah I am in super nesting mode right now. Yesterday I knocked a whole bunch of stuff off my to-do list. I am almost done my deep clean of the whole house. Still so much I want to do though!!

Sorry you still have to work. I feel very fortunate to be off now at 36 weeks to be able to get things done and rest.

  38. pui

    bananas / 9899 posts

I just finished cleaning my whole house from top to bottom. It's probably never going to be this clean again until we move, haha!

I have just a few more things left on my to-do list:
    - Organize my kitchen cabinets
    - Wash my cloth diapers (would have done this already, but I am waiting for the detergent to arrive).
    - Organize the toys
    - Install the car seat base in to both cars
    - Pack hospital bag (not a big deal since the hospital is only 3 minutes away anyway, but I'd like to assure I have the basics)

Hoping to get all this done this week! Then I can relax and just wait for baby to get here for the most part.

What stuff do you have left on your to-do list?

  39. LBee

    pomegranate / 3895 posts

@pui: Wow you were very productive! On my phone so can't make a great list, but mainly need to get the house together, make some more freezer foods (we have like 15 meals I would say, thanks to my amazing husband), finish some baby laundry, and pack hospital bag.

My little episode yesterday kicked us into gear today We packed bags (or made a list of things to throw in), installed the car seat bases, and generated email lists for announcements. Still some stuff left to do, but nothing vital.
