@Brassgiraffe: Sounds like this crew loves games -- game night meetup, anyone?!

@mrsog: DH and I also do the burbs to Manhattan commute (about 45 min, but on a bad day, it could be hours!). How long is yours? How is it now that you have the little guy? I worry about it taking a long time to get to our (future) baby in case of emergency!

@spaniellove: That is a gorgeous pic

@Pirouette: The dogs were one of my biggest concerns about moving here, but they've adapted pretty well, and I think living in Brooklyn helps!

@loopedd: People have been trying to get a NYC meet up going but it seems to keep fizzling out. Maybe if we change it to a game night more people will want to attend, haha.

@mrsog: we have an English bulldog named bailey. He has the best personality and is such a snuggler. I get so surprised when people find him scary. I hate that he doesn't get the amount of attention he deserves now that my daughter is here.

@Chillybear: when on maternity leave we bindged watched a few shows - OITNB, Fargo, Orphan Black. Now I'm back to work and once Jr. is sleeping I can't keep my eyes open long enough to catch the weather!

@loopedd: My time on train is about 30-35 mins and then I can walk from Grand Central to my office. I have only been back 3 weeks so no emergencies yet but it is something I think about all the time and think I will start to look for something more local before the end of the year.

@Jruess: yea Tyson definitely is not the center of attnetion anymore but I feel like bulldogs are probably more ok with it than other breeds. we try to do our best to show him he is still important but he sleeps most of the day anyway!

    Hi All,

I've been on Hellobee for a bit over 1.5 years now...I guess I joined sometime after I found out I was pregnant with my daughter, who is now 13 months old. I live in NJ, just outside Manhattan. I'm a middle school librarian and my husband works right by Times Square, poor guy...lots of touristy pedestrians.

We moved here from Texas two years ago and love it now, even though there was a little bit of sticker shock at first, haha. No pets, but I love to travel and I tend to type stream-of-consciousness style epically long posts, just because I type as fast as I think..... So sorry about that in advance.

We travel as a family a lot to the Atlanta and Toronto suburbs, since my family lives in ATL and my husbands family lives in GTA.

@chillybear--thanks! I am close to my parents as well (only child) and it's been a really tough year, especially since they are both having issues. It's in the forefront of my mind today as I found out last night they are not going to be able to come down for DD's birthday this weekend (they live 2.5 hours away) since my dad is feeling so poorly. I try to stay positive for them but often feel pretty helpless/like I should be doing more. It's hard.

I'll go ahead and join in - I've mostly been lurking, so why not take the plunge?

    - I'm MrsLonghorn, and as you may guess, I live in Texas
    - My husband and I met in college, have been married for 7 years, and together for 11.
    - We have a wire-haired dachshund/terrier mix who we adore
    - We are expecting our first (and only) child at the end of September. The ultrasound tech said it was a boy at 17 weeks, but I'm only 98% convinced she is right...I have no idea why I feel this way.
    - In our spare time, we love tackling new home improvement projects and traveling
    - I work for a nonprofit, and plan to return to work full time after 12 weeks of maternity leave.

@Anagram: I work right by Time Square too so I know his pain. it is the worst at Christmas time! It is definitely different than Texas though so I'm glad you were able to adjust.

@spaniellove: What? You have Aspergers? Not to sound all silly but children with Autism and Aspergers are my passion. I love teaching them, teaching them to be confident and themselves while learning to "fit in" socially.

@Mrs. J: So many good ones on your list i loved Life of Pi, Garcia Girls and Angela's Ashes. I'll have to check out some of the others on your list

@MrsLonghorn: You're getting close! I had a really strong feeling i was having a boy not a girl but the ultra sound pictures were pretty hard to argue with.

@Bubbles: yup! the 16th but she was IUGR so she's only like 10th percentile. they are just at opposite ends of the spectrum! it would be so funny to see them side by side haha.

@Anagram: hope your DH's commute isn't too bad today - i hear there's a massive protest going on in times sq today!

@loopedd: i'm about to become a commuter and not so excited about it

@Aria: oh yea, brooklyn is definitely easier than manhattan - so happy your dogs have adjusted so well

    I'll play!

    I'm ladybee.
I'm 29, 30 is right. around. the. corner. and I honestly don't care.
    I'm a special education teacher.
I lost a pregnancy that was fairly easy to get, then tried for a year with minor IF treatments and got my beautiful son who Cheri22 predicted perfectly!
He's 10 months old, has had his share of medical issues and has a severe milk allergy.
My DH and I have been together for 7 years, married for almost 4.
My first baby (of the fur variety) is a beautiful basset/beagle boy.
I'm pretty much an only child and close to both my parents.

@anagram - we're the opposite! Husband is from Manhattan, and we lived there for 5 years before moving to Texas for grad school. Then we got job offers here, so we stayed. I'm from Texas, and had zero desire to stay here after grad school, but I've learned to love it.
I used to work between Penn Station and the Port Authority, which was bad enough - I can't imagine being in Times Square!

@ValentineMommy: Hands up for short hubbies - my DH is shorter than me as well (3")
    @cyndistar3: Your girls are gorgeous!
@Jruess: Totally planning on a sparkles theme as well for LOs 1st bday party.

I'm not new, but I'll play.

    I'm Mrs.Shinerbock and I am 31 yrs old.
I live in Houston and am Texas born and bred, though I have moved around a lot.
I met DH while working in FL and we dated long distance for 2.5 yrs. I was laid off in 2008 and moved to Houston to be with him. We got married 1.5 yrs later and had our 4th anniversary this April.
All of DH's family live in Colombia, so we travel down there at least 1 time each year to visit.
I am an engineer, but my real passions are crafting and party planning. I will use just about any excuse to throw a party if that means I can make some fun decorations.
We have a 9.5 month old little girl with a gorgeous, full head of hair. She is the same size as her 19.5 month old twin cousins, so when my sister and I are out with the three of them, we often get asked if they are triplets.

I'll do a super quick intro, since we're traveling and waiting around for a rental car.

I'm IRunForFun, and I used to run a lot more than I have been lately. Hoping to whip myself back into shape. DH is a runner too and we want to do a triathlon together.

    I'm turning 30 in September.

I'm a newspaper reporter and DH is in grad school getting his degree in biomedical engineering.

    We live in upstate NY.

No kids yet. We're approaching our one year wedding anniversary and have pushed back our TTC timeline a few times due to DH's school schedule. Depending on how things go, we may NTNP over the winter.

We adopted a Catahoula/beagle mix puppy last month! His ne is Rye, he's 3.5 months old, and he's the cutest dog ever!

I also like to read and eat chocolate in all forms.

@Aria: I saw the thread with a date poll for an NYC meetup and voted, but I don't think most dates will work for me Hopefully something will get going!! At the very least maybe we'll have the Biggest Baby Shower?!? I heard there will be games there

@mrsog: I hope the commute continues to go smoothly! I don't want to have to go more local, because I love my job and my coworkers, but eventually it seems like it will be inevitable. I'm actually very close to the city in NJ, just have a lot of steps (local shuttle to NJ transit train to subway + walking) and any one of them can cause major delays in my day!!

@Pirouette: Good luck! If you ever want to commiserate I'm your girl. So many horror stories!!

We have a 9 month old little boy.
We also have 2 cats, one of which is completely obsessed with eating plastic and it drives me insane!
I enjoy running and working out once I start, but actually going to the gym is like pulling teeth. I'm fine if I can just get myself out the door.
    I also love photography.
