We're taking our annual Christmas trip a bit early this year (beginning of December) since DH has to work the weekend following Christmas (boo!). We're heading to Costa Rica so suggest/share your favorite places to see, eat, and do!
We'll be staying at an all-inclusive resort (Westin Playa Conchal). I'll be 7 months pregnant and DS is 2. Also, any suggestions on cheap maternity swimsuits/cover-ups or should I just rock my bikinis??

I had to look it up - there are so many different areas of Costa Rica, each with their own things to do (we went for our honeymoon). Unfortunately, we didn't stay in the area where you are going.
Are you renting a car or getting a shuttle? We loved Costa Rica and the only thing that kind of freaked me out was the driving. They've only had cars since the 1970s (or something like that), so their roads and traffic obedience (or lack thereof) made for an interesting and scary ride to our hotel..
Eat a lot of fruit - it's amazing there!

@Alivoo01: We're going to Costa Rica in February (just me and DH, though). I've never been so I can't offer any advice but you'll have to send me details when you return! And I vote rock the bikini

@NorthStar: Shuttle, but they do require car seats for kids so we gotta lug that thing with us, which according to you is a good thing!

omg - yes, totally a good thing. I was so worried that I would die on the way (or hit someone walking on the non-existent shoulders). I do think that it was mostly our driver, though, as our other driver wasn't as bad. lol
one cool thing is that my husband is allergic to fruit here at home, but could eat everything there. Amazing..have fun! It's a beautiful county and I'm sure you will see a lot of beautiful sights on the way there

I don't know if you're willing to make the drive to Tamarindo, but you should probably go eat a breakfast burrito at the Beach Box because you'll never ever forget it.

@BananaPancakes: I'm marking that down. It's about a 30 min drive so not bad at all. We will definitely wanna leave our resort even though it's all-inclusive. We like to explore so a must eat food? Consider us there! Thanks for the recommendation!

Rock the bikini if you are comfortable! But remember the sun will be really strong, so I will add that I like my maternity rash guard from motherhood maternity and it's on clearance (less than $15). The long sleeves were too hot but I just cut them above the elbow and they didn't unravel or anything.
And I agree driving there is pretty crazy. We didn't stay in that area so no specific suggestions but it will be wonderful!

oh - thought of one thing. it's super humid there (or at least where we stayed). I'd invest in clothes that can dry easily as you will likely sweat a lot. But, if you are rocking the bikini, perhaps you will be fine

@Alivoo01: Tamarindo is awesome! We spent a good day shopping there. We stopped at this little stand for a fresh fruit smoothie (sorry, I can't remember the name)...amazing! So I totally agree with eat a lot of fruit.... Yum. Also in Tamarindo, and probably where you'll be too, we did a sunset catamaran ride that included about an hour of snorkeling in this little alcove. It was awesome! And yes, be prepared for heat with lots of humidity! Have fun, I'm so jealous... We haven't been for five years and I'm dying to go back.

@Alivoo01: What size top do you think you would need? I have a maternity tankini top in size L (nwt) I've been meaning to post to the classifieds.
I haven't been to Costa Rica, but I suggest lots of easy breezy clothing because that's what I wanted when I was pregnant and hot lol.

@Boogs: Probably a small? I don't have any maternity shorts so I'll be wearing running shorts (since regular shorts aren't happening) and Target's long and lean tanks a lot. I need to check and see if I have some breezy dresses also!
