@FaithFertility: basically it said at this age they should be able to sleep through the night, so if they're not it's because they've gotten used to the nursing or cuddling at night, and not because they need it. Not sure that is 100% true every time, but I know he is spoiled.

@josina: I agree, spoiling in that sense I think can happen I think we are spoiled in the nap department a little!

@josina: absolutely not your fault!! You have just been responding to his needs! I nurse for most night wakings too.
It wouldn't explain why K would sleep through and sometimes not if she is trained to wake up!!

Man K was up from 6-9pm.. Took me 2.5 hrs and nursing twice to get her down

@josina: soooo cu te!
Ryan takes as much as I will give him. He routinely drinks 5 oz before bed even if he has nursed within 2 hours. He's a pig but a peanut. And he definitely doesn't sleep 12 hours

@josina: I think there's some truth to it but many babies eat out of hunger til 6 months. After 6 months.....lots of time it's just habit. That's why sleep training is so successful after 6 mos! But Ryan is totally spoiled for naps and I don't let him cry much before nap or bed. Ok I don't let him cry at all. And I know better!

@snowjewelz: spit up looks like a lot more than it is. Trust me Ryan spits up constantly but gains beautifully so he's def not losing whole feedings!

@KayKay: yikes that IS a bad night. Hope tonight is better!

Did our first night of sleep training... He fell sleep nursing at 8:15 so I laid him in the crib. Up at 9, took just under an hour of crying/comforting but he finally fell asleep on his own! 1 hr was my give-up time so yay for success! We will see how the rest of the night/week goes!

Started sleep and crib training tonight. This blows. Took an hour to get her to sleep. Now at 40 minutes she is crying again. This is much harder than it ever was with her sister. I'm afraid it's going to be some long nights this week. And she's spitting up during this process too. Gross but I can't change sheets and pajamas every time.

Well I hope my loss is someone else's gain????
We have woke every hr or 1.5 I have no idea why???? Up at 9, 10, 11:30, 12:30, 2, and now....worse than newborn days and DH is working....blahhhhh

We survived night one. It's like they know your breaking point. I was so tired and ready to give in. DH did the last check and got her to sleep. I hope tonight is easier. All in all, it took 2.5 hours. Painful, but it will be worth it. And our big kid slept through it. I think her falling asleep early last night was a blessing.

@FaithFertility: we had bad night too. Up at 1:30 and 4 am. Up for day at 7.

@MamaG: Aww, sorry it was so rough! I think I would've given in, so good for you guys that you didn't give up! Hopefully night 2 is better!
I don't like our monitor either, its an older one I bought used so no help there.
Our night went really good, he slept till 1 and I nursed then back in crib, woke at 3 and cried for maybe 15 min. Then slept till 5:30, nursed and sleeping yet now. Much better than crying every 1-2 hrs!

@josina: It was awful I commend you girls and the last 2 wakes I left her in bed with me that didn't even help she was tossing around too

So apparently k slept on her knees all night. They were bright red this morning when I changed her. In the light of day, I'm glad we are training her. Now to get her trained and move bedtime up earlier. This will vastly improve our family life.

@FaithFertility: you will find your breaking point. Until they whatever it takes to get through. This is a tough stage.

@josina: high fives mama. You got this. I'm glad someone else is doing this at the same time as us. Solidarity and all that.

Wow bad nights all around!!
Ryan had a normal night up at 230 and 5 and I did get him back to sleep til 715. He is coming down with a cold last night he was hot and sneezy and coughy. Today really fussy :/. My husband has a bad cold I just hope Ryan's isn't as bad!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MamaG: Yes, this was a freak episode I am hoping I am really thinking teeth.....today she just chews and chews not fussy but I think that is what is waking her! We shall see.......
Thankfully DH is home tonight and tomorrow so we can tag team it if need be and I won't give her the boob......EVERY TIME!

@winniebee: Hope his cold stays small or better yet leaves!!!!

@MamaG: We have the Safety 1st Video monitor, it is good son far
I like the fact I can manipulate camera on our end, incase she moves in crib out of sight!

We are starting crib training. She's napping now in her crib while I workout and brennan plays in his playroom.

@josina: That's great! I don't even know if I can endure an hour! (I probably can't even last 10 min lol)
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: Good info! This justifies me procrastinating on sleep training haha!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: I hope you guys survive and emerge all more rested and happier! Maybe it will give me the strength and courage to start ST too!
@FaithFertility: I am so sorry!! I really don't know what is up with these kids! Last night K was glued to me. She didn't even want to nurse, she just wanted me to hold her! My arm can barely move today b/c her head was on it the whole night! Maybe it has to get worse before it gets better?! I sure hope so!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@BandDmommy: Us too, all NAPS in crib unless I put her down 3 times then I will let her nap in swing by that has been once this week
I still don't know exactly when we will switch to crib at night as it is across the house, I guess like the others that have started you will just know when your ready!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: I like that motto, as I tried to rock her/nursed her all night I just kept thinking there will come a day when I will miss this.......
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: I think crib will equal sleep training for us. I honestly swing back and forth on this all the time. Some days I totally see the benefit of sleep training and justifies the crying. Other days, I feel like I should just go with the flow even if it means suffering for longer and let her learn to sleep in a slower/more natural way... I def have to keep telling myself that either way, this too shall pass! I was staring at her face at 3am last night thinking one day she won't be in my bed and I can't just stare at her, touch her little hands or sniff her anymore
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: YES.....lol she strokes my face when she nurses at night and I just melt......why doesn't anyone tell you how much you will love these babes.....lol Ohhh wait they do, you just truly have no idea until they are here!!!!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@BandDmommy: Wonder if she's going through a growth spurt? Morning cuddles are the best!!
@josina: E is such a cutie!! And crazy about the halo, haha.
@MamaG: I hope the soy formula helps. And that the teeth come in soon!
Ugh, sorry to hear about everyone's rough night!! Hope sleep training helps for those of you that are doing it.
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@snowjewelz: I handled it better than I thought I would for sure! I broke the no-picking up rule right away though, picked him up twice to calm him. It helped that he wasn't crying the entire hour, he was actually quiet after a half hour for a little while and then started again.
I just reminded myself it's a good thing, crying doesn't hurt him, and if I was to give up then all the time so far was for nothing.
