@MrsF: I am so sick or day time TV! But there isn't any tv shows that I want to binge on either

Gah, whenever Logan cries or fusses, my husband just assumes he's hungry, even if I had JUST fed him! And then he wouldn't take my advice that he was just tired and to try swaddling him so finally I took Logan from him and swaddled him and rocked him and he fell right asleep. Because he was tired. Just like I said.

@Adira: @snowjewelz: I watched SO much TV when M was a newborn. Things are a little different with a toddler in the mix. She's definitely getting more screen-time than usual, but I try to leave it off when she's awake and I don't like her seeing me messing around on my phone all the time either. Sometimes I wish I could just zone out in front of the TV while I'm nursing!

@Adira: Ugh - that's one of the hardest thing about breastfeeding! I have the opposite issue too: the baby's crying and crying and fussing and DH is trying everything to soothe him because the crying just doesn't bother him like it bothers me. Eventually I'm just like "give me the baby so I can nurse him already!!" during those witching hour moments I don't even care if he's hungry if I know I can calm him down
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MrsF: I totally hear you about the crying bothering us more than our husbands! It makes my whole body tense up when I hear him crying!! My husband isn't as bothered, but he just assumes Logan is hungry, even if I literally just fed him minutes before! And I have definitely resorted to offering him the boob if I can't settle him down otherwise, but at this point, I know he's not going through a growth spurt, so I know he's not hungry only an hour after a good feeding! So I'm trying to do EASY if I can. Though it all goes out the window in the evening when he cluster feeds and just sleeps in between!

Are y'all ready for Christmas? I just mixed up two more bowls of cookies (M&M and Chocolate Chip). DH is making a cheese ball tonight. I haven't wrapped a single present and I have two more DIY's to finish. And a few gift cards to pick up. It feels like it's just been a flurry to get it all done.
My parents fly in tomorrow and the rest of our guests (4 more!) show up on Friday. We actually will do our big family dinner on Saturday. We will have a relatively low-key day Christmas day with just the four of us, plus my parents. Dinner for that day - CHILI, in the crockpot, easy peasy. My DH will be doing all the cooking for our Christmas Dinner (he doesn't like me in HIS kitchen!).
I have to confess that I really despise Christmas in Texas. I was raised in Wisconsin. Christmas without out frigid temperatures and snow just doesn't feel right. I think the forecast is for 70 on Christmas day, not right I tell ya!

@MrsF: yes. My husband doesn't quite get the concept of cluster feeding.

@MrsF: the other morning the only thing on at 4 a.m. was Magic Mike...lol really?
@MamaG: We are pretty ready, my Mom and little sister fly in tomorrow from Seattle I'm excited about that!
We are having our families over here, not really going hosting but basically said we have the door open
We ordered a huge Italian meat/cheese plate and told everyone else bring something!
I'm hoping for a relaxed time! but who am I kidding!
@MrsF: DH I think has boob envy. ...lol if she is good for him but smells me she will cry he looks heart broken, but I told him I'm a few weeks we will introduce a bottle, so he can be I'm charge of that!

Dr today went great! G is good, and ohhhh and had a huge BM blow out on the table, went through the diapet right up her back

@MamaG: sounds delicious! I want those cookies! I can't imagine a 70 degree Christmas

@ustechie: ditto. My DH keeps asking if he's "due to eat". He's 4 weeks old! He eats when he wants to eat!
To be fair, our DD was so colicky that she screamed 24/7 and the only way to decide when to feed her was to watch the clock.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@FaithFertility: yeah - there's not much they can do with feeding at this point. My DH calls himself the "trash man" (diaper duty) and me the "lunch lady".
Glad you had a good visit. Sorry about the blow out!

@Adira: mine thinks the baby is hungry constantly too!
I love binge watching tv while nursing...not so much this time around though!!
We came down to NH today for the rest of the week. My hubby has some time off finally and we can use the help. Packing and Getting out of the house this afternoon with 2 kids and no husband home to help....was a shit show. I love the holidays despite how hectic things have been.

@FaithFertility: hahha i saw magic mike was on too. I was like, um, no.
We also had a dr appt yesterday that went pretty well. The hospital wanted us to go early to check for jaundice since his labs were a little off. Thank God we're all good! On a side note, my son's umbilical stump is huge (probably since he's a big boy!) and kinda stinky. I couldn't believe how hard the Dr yanked on it to clean it! It seriously made me cringe!

@MamaG: I'm basically ready for Christmas! I need to label presents and put them under the tree and make an apple pie, but that's it. My parents and brother are coming over and my mom is bringing all the food. And I hear you about the weather. I live in New England and it's going to be in the 50s on Christmas! It's just not right!
@FaithFertility: Yay for a good appointment!
@ustechie: Glad to hear you had a good appointment and no jaundice!

It's christmas eve!
For those who get 2, 3 or even 4 he stretches at night, are you not burping/ checking diaper/ offering both sides? I feel like after going through the routine I really only have an hour left; she usually sleeps for 2.5
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: When I say that Logan did a 3 hour stretch at night, I mean he really slept for that long, after the diaper change, nursing, and burping! Although I usually don't burping after he eats from the second side because he'll fall asleep nursing and I don't want to risk waking him!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
What do you guys do when you feed the baby in the MOTN and they are still wide awake?? And Logan keeps rooting, but won't stay latched and won't fall asleep!
nectarine / 2631 posts
@Adira: that happened to us last night. I did some walking around, swaying an boucing- then I got her to latch again to fall asleep!
pomelo / 5298 posts
I don't know what is going on with K. She had a great day. At 9:00 last night she wakes with gas pains. She is angry for about 40 minutes until I give her a bottle to calm her. She drinks less than half before falling asleep. She stays asleep until about 11:00 where she repeated. I ended.up in the glider with her where she alternately slept and cried until about 2:00. She had another bottle as this is when she goes for motn feed. She then cried until after 3:00. We don't normally swaddle because she immediately fights her arms out. At 3:00 I was desperate and put her in a Halo swaddle and rocked her in the RnP. It's now 8:00 and she is still sleeping. I love this long stretch, but the fight leading to it is horrible.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: lol I saw your IG pic! He was like mom, I don't know what night time is?!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: if it's gas pains can you give gripe water or cycle legs instead first?
pomelo / 5298 posts
@snowjewelz: we cycle her legs and do tummy rubs all day long. We do gas drops with each bottle. I can try gripe water. C wouldn't take it.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: I usually change her before we feed, so that she wakes up more... feed 20-30 mins and burping her actually makes her fall asleep.. then we can usually get 3 hrs
eggplant / 11861 posts
Girlfriend has been on the boon since 7 ....on off sleepy and just hanging out........we called it boob lounging
pomelo / 5660 posts
@snowjewelz: I got 4.5 hour stretch last night. I cluster feed for 2 hours and get a good burp.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: haha!
@BandDmommy: nice! I'm still only getting barely 2.. Takes me an hour to do a whole feeding and then I only have like 1-2 hrs max before she wakes up again!
pomelo / 5660 posts
@Adira: for MOTN feedings its all business.. I don't really talk to Her and avoid eye contact. It sounds cruel but I want her to know it's not time to play.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MamaG: awwww I'm so sorry, I dread those nights it will break my heart!
pomelo / 5660 posts
@MamaG: awww.. I'm sorry. It breaks my heart when D cries of whimpers.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@Adira: we rock in the r'n'p, rock in the glider, walk around the house...
J wouldn't go back down after a 3am feed last night. DH got up to rock him and ended up downstairs with him until 7 while I slept. My hero! I didn't even know they were awake.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@MamaG: that sounds horrible We've been having the same struggle with a giant fight to get to sleep and then one decent stretch and then another fight. I'd almost rather feed more often if he would go back down more easily. The soothing is so stressful!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@snowjewelz: we are the same way - by the time I've changed, nursed, burped, and swaddled/rocked to sleep, it's eaten up an hour! Oh well.
Merry Christmas Eve, everyone!

Whitney was born 12/23 with umph! Cramping all day after dr swept membrane at 10am. By midnight felt contractions and thought I could wait it out until morning but an hour into it I knew I had to get to the hospital. Was in a lot of pain the whole 10 min car ride over. ER guard wouldn't let us up because there was no dr on call and the answer service never got through to my dr. The next 20 mins were a blur... L&D nurses finally came down 10 mins later to wheel me up, er paged my dr who luckily lived near by, water broke in elevator, got into bed, and the baby literally pushed her way out. My dr walked in a min later. Completely not my birth plan but everyone is healthy. We get to go home today
