@winniebee: Yikes! I try not to show video every time... Sometimes I put on her music and she is okay too but when it's a poop change I need to put the video on so it distracts her for longer! I used to be able to give her something "new" to hold but that's barely working now!

I thought this was really helpful!

@winniebee: so much easier said than done lol. but I am inspired to try to work with her and somehow turn it into a bonding time....?! lol
K had a 15 min daycare nap today...

Diaper changes have become a hassle here also as E is constantly on the go. I will try and give him something to play with, usually a wet wipe, or vicks can, or sock, lol, whatever is closest. And playing with him seems to work, we 'scream' back and forth or loudly 'ah ah choo', he thinks its funny.

Whats everyone doing for halloween? Parties to go to? Trick-or-treating?
My step daughter is 12, so too old to trick-or-treat, and E obviously doesn't need candy (no parties to go to) so I'm thinking I will make treats/bars and deliver to our close friends/neighbors so we can show him off in his 'train conductor' costume. Otherwise its all dressed up and no where to go!

@josina: We didn't do anything for Halloween Xander's first year - he was definitely too little to know or care. This year, we'll take Xander trick-or-treating and either Logan will come along or he'll stay home with one of us. It'll all depend on naps!

@josina: We are bringing both kids to a halloween party and trick or treating. Emily will have no idea whats going on- but thats ok! She will look cute in her strawberry costume!
So we found out that Emily is NOT allergic to peanut butter when she stole DSs sandwich and went to town on it! Whoops!

@josina: No plans for Halloween. No family nearby & our apt complex doesn't do trick or treating.
Diaper changes are fun here too. He's always twisting & turning, so we have to give him toys or a diaper to play with. Also, the legs always cross, so we constantly have to move legs around. LOL
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@cheert16: That's great!! And don't feel bad. Our allergist was proud that we exposed Logan to peanuts so early.

@banddmommy: yep to the food and the diapers. i don't remember K being this bad about diaper changes, but maybe daycare trained her well the food tossing is SO annoying!
@josina: there are a couple mommy group things during the next 2 weeks that I will take the girl(s) too where they can wear costumes. And there are two Halloween things next Saturday (the 24th) where they have business trick-or-treating and games and activities for kids, so we'll probably pick one to hit up! Plus then real trick-or-treating. We are going to get our money's worth out of these costumes!

@whenoceansrise: @winniebee: that's some rough sleep there, guys!
@mrsf: i'm a total softie when it comes to night nursing during sickness too. warm milk + extra antibodies is a hard thing to deny!

We have a neighborhood Halloween party before Halloween and then we take the kids out trick or treating for Halloween. DS will also wear a costume to preschool the Friday before Halloween.

@whenoceansrise: I'm so sorry. we've had a few weeks of up every 2 hrs as well. It started when he got a cold, and I've had to do every wake up bc he just wanted mommy. Last night we got a 4 hr stretch though, so I'm hoping its looking up! (although he has always been a crap sleeper, so who knows). Hang in there!

@MrsF: ugh poor baby (and you!!). I'm so sorry about the bad sleep; that is so rough.

@BandDmommy: I feel like h doesn't eat very much because he is constantly giving food to the dog. He's super squirrelly at diaper changes, but I try to give him a toiletry item from his changing station to play with. Regular toys won't do, but if I give him the new and exciting butt paste tube! Nose frida! Comb! Wipes container! sometimes that will hold his attention. Ha. Silly kids.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@snowjewelz: much easier said than done especially if you are limited on time. But I find when I talk to him about everything he is more cooperative!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@theotherstark: K almost swallowed the foam piece to the nose frida once
We are doing nothing for Halloween! Planning my friends baby shower and K's 1st birthday is keeping me busy. And I want to do something for myself at some point for my birthday!

@winniebee: ha, h does the windshield wiper thing too. He also enjoys smacking the tray and making all the food bounce off.
He has also learned how to blow bubbles in his straw cup, which I find hilarious, but am trying not to let on how funny it is. Haha. He loves blowing bubbles right now - in his straw cup, in the bath, in the spoon of soup I give him. Hilarious.
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@snowjewelz: haha I always take that part out before giving it to him!! He would definitely eat it. Hahaha.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Logan is still on purees, so we don't have to deal with the food mess, but he does enjoy dropping his sippy cup onto the floor. As soon as you hand it to him, he looks right at you, holds it out to the side, and then lets it drop. And then he looks over the side like he's surprised.
Also followed by: "Logan, no! That hurts my ears!" from Xander.

Oh, and I also sing "you put your left arm in" etc. when I change his clothes. He's started helping put his arms and head in, which is cute.

@josina: my mom group is having a little party, so we will get h dressed up for that. I think he will also like just walking around the neighborhood and seeing the big kids walking around.
My husbands office also has a kids Halloween thing, so we will go to that.

@cheert16: ha glad she isn't allergic!! I've been giving h peanut butter and shellfish and no reactions, thankfully.

@BandDmommy: Diaper changes are a mess! she cries and wants to turn over, night time is the worse she cries as I am putting her jammies on!

@josina: We are dressing up and hitting a trunk or treat downtown for a bit it is kid friendly and early 4-8 so we will walk around and head home for bedtime....lol

@whenoceansrise: I am so sorry about the sleep, praying it gets better for you mama!!!!!

K has a costume parade at her daycare next Friday. We will take them out trick or treating. K will just ride in the stroller and hopefully fall asleep. We just TorT in our neighborhood.
I also hope to get their photos taken this weekend. I really need to schedule that, stat!
We will also hit up the pumpkin patch just as soon as it stops being 90+!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
I'm not really sure what we will do for Halloween...trick or treat for sure as T is very excited about that!

@adira: haha. Kate says: "e, you get one more chance and then we take it away!" She knows the rules...my little enforcer.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: hahaha!
@theotherstark: haha I make it a game too! I ask he to give me her arms, and then I ask her where her hands are. For some reason she's very interested in watching me button her clothes!
Poopy diaper change was so calm today with no music/video at all! Maybe she was reading my posts..

@winniebee: Man - that diaper changing advice makes me stop and think. I'm not sure how practical it is, but I'm going to try! I do hate the idea of accosting him.
@josina: That's a great idea on how to have fun with it when he's too young to really trick or treat.
We will definitely be going trick or treating with M (last year she sort of understood it, but this year I think she'll be pretty in to it). My parents and siblings will be here because my birthday is halloween. They usually stay at our house to hand out candy while we take M out. I guess J can either come with us or stay with them depending on how things are going.
Our town also has a "halloween parade" where all of the kids walk in their costumes. We didn't go last year but I'm looking forward to it this year!

@cheert16: I'm glad she's not allergic! I watched the exact same thing happen with a friend last week. We were having a picnic in the park and her 3 year old handed a PB&J to her 6 month old before either of us could stop it. He was fine! I made a point to give Jack some PB fairly early because M eats so much of it and I didn't want her to surprise me.

TGIF!!!
G ate chicken parm tonight and LOVED IT, I am definitely letting her lead the way now and purees are history for dinner these days
