@tjlove54: I'm pretty torn on nursery ideas yet. Hopefully can think about it more seriously once we know what we are having. This next LO and our youngest DD will be sharing a room. We have a 3 bedroom and our oldest DD is going to be 13 and she is too old to be sharing with such an age gap. We only have her part time (She is DH from his first marriage) but she still needs her own space and deserves her own room.
Makes it hard though. Right now DD2 has a girly pink and brown vintage room. Might just stick with that if its another girl. Which I'm really feeling this one will be.
Maybe throw some Disney in. But more elegant/classy Disney stuff. Quotes, silhouette type stuff.
I feel I need to do something new to make DD2 excited about having to share her room.

@tjlove54: nope! the baby will be sharing a room with his big sister. Luckily, her room isn't that girly, and the baby's crib will probably be parked in our room for the first few months. I'm looking into loft beds right now. Sigh, NYC apartments.

@rescuemom10: totally makes sense giving your oldest DD her own room and I'm sure she will really appreciate having her own space! I like the idea of adding classic disney into DD2's current room. Your younger daughter will probably be excited about any new changes in the room.
@marley: Loft beds sound like a great solution down the road. We have friends in NYC, I feel you! I've seen lots of creative solutions on blogs so I bet you will make it work too!
Right now I'm considering an astronomy theme with stars and such. I want to paint the room some shade of cream so it is very neutral and can be easily changed as LO gets older. I would like to add in gold accents. It is still early though so I could change my mind.

@tjlove54: So cute! No idea what we will do re: nursery. We only have a 2 bedroom, but we do have a tiny office that connects to our room (no door though) so I think we may convert that. It's a light grey and I think it will look nice as a nursery so at least we don't have to paint. We will probably move in 1-2 years so not sure if we would eventually move him in with DD or not.

I head to the doc again here in a few hours. Hopefully get to peak at the baby. I haven't in 4 weeks. So hopefully all still looks good in there.

@marley @catlady @rescuemom10: Thank you! I'm mostly proud that I was able to photoshop myself out of it, though you can still see my shadow (I was holding the cape!)

@rescuemom10: I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get to see baby today!

@tjlove54: OH WOW!!! Impressive. I didn't even notice your shadow! Nice job momma!

Thanks ladies! I am certainly no pro at Photoshop. It's all self taught.
@rescuemom10: Hope you had a great appointment!

Well, no u/s. But we did listen to the baby so got to hear that.
I am so anxious today. I am going back home to MN Thursday. I have so much to do. Need to finish packing and get other stuff taken care of around the house and prepped for the people watching the house. I have dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks. I cant seem to find one person who is comfortable with it all so I have like 3 people helping with it all while I am gone.
So ready for a vacation.

@rescuemom10: Yay for getting to hear the baby! I can't imagine all of the logistics that go into taking care of all of your animals, but I bet your girls absolutely love them! My DS would love having some chickens and ducks (sadly, we can't have those in our city, boo!) Hope you have a great vacation!

@tjlove54: Thanks!
Yeah I swear my little DD doesn't need toys or anything. She could spend all day with her Chickens. LOL
Well the last two nights I have stayed up until about Midnight prepping. Then am up at 4:30am to start getting ready for work. So I am feeling like a zombie. Bring on the vacation! This momma needs it.
Now I just hope to survive the airport and all that mess on my own with LO.

Quad screen results came back normal. Yay! Although I do feel like I'm the only person who isn't doing Maternit21/Panorama/etc these days -- but I'm neither AMA nor any other type of high-risk, so it seemed pointless to pay extra money for a test that is still just a screen.

@rescuemom10: Safe travels and I hope you have an awesome vacation!
@Kaykay: Yay for great results! If I wasn't "AMA" (that sounds so old, but I don't feel old at 34!) I wouldn't have done it either. It actually messed with my mind learning the gender sooner this time. I was mentally prepared for 20 weeks, not 14. I'm still looking forward to "seeing" the confirmation at 20 weeks, though my DH keeps reminding me that DNA doesn't lie.

@tjlove54: not saying that this is common, but my good friend had the MaterniT21 done and the test said boy. But at the scan the tech saw a girl. It's possible that there's a vanishing twin?

@marley: OMG that will really throw me for a loop since I just wrapped my mind around a girl this time! Now I REALLY need to "see" the proof!
grapefruit / 4988 posts
@Rescuemom10: Wow, hope you can relax soon!
@KayKay: Congrats! I didn't do Materniti21 last time (I was not AMA then). It worked out fine.
@marley: Did your friend have the baby or is she now just totally confused? My OB basically said there was no chance ours wasn't a boy after getting the Materniti21 result. Anatomy scan is in a week so we will see!

@catlady: she hasn't had the baby yet, but every scan she's had so far shows a girl. So weird!
@tjlove54: sorry, didn't mean to do that! I just thought it was an interesting anecdote. The chance of this happening is like .01% or something.
grapefruit / 4988 posts
@marley: Wow, that is just crazy! I wouldn't know what to think in that case!
kiwi / 706 posts
@catlady: my early anatomy scan is in about a week also. I think this might be why I haven't bought any boy clothes. But this is completely irrational.
grapefruit / 4988 posts
@marley: Ive bought a bunch of things that are sort of neutral. In my mind, I've been buying boy clothes but actually they could go either way so I must be sub-consciously second guessing too.
kiwi / 706 posts
@catlady: or maybe I haven't been buying anything for this baby because there are just so many cute dresses to buy my DD!
cherry / 101 posts
@marley @catlady: I already bought some girl clothes because they were super cheap. I guess if it ends up being a boy I have some exchanges to do! LOL!

Just got my M21 results and we are having a healthy baby BOY !! I was so sure he was a girl... but we do have the vanishing twin thing going on, so I'm really excited for confirmation. I'm 14 weeks now and my anatomy scan is still 5 weeks away!! DD (3) was actually sure she was having a sister, so she is taking the news a little hard, which surprised me a lot! I guess I didn't prepare her enough for the possibility that it could be a he .

@GreenThumb: Congrats!!! It's boy city in this group! I feel so lucky that my LO actually wanted a brother (her two daycare friends both have baby brothers, so I don't think she even considered the possibility of a sister).
pear / 1986 posts
@catlady: It's so funny because all the babies we know are girls, so I don't think she pictured a brother! But we are talking about how much fun and silly boys are... DH told her how goofy you can be with a boy and that made her feel better.
@marley: I know, it's crazy how many boys!! And luckily I have a sister and two friends who are going to give me hand me downs! Boy clothes are a whole new world!!

@KayKay: I feel the same, I'm not doing the Maternit21/Panorama/etc either. We actually didn't do any genetic testing at all.
I scheduled my anatomy scan, of course my doctor never changed my due date (I have been measuring almost a week ahead) so I have to wait 6 more weeks instead of 5. I just want to know if it's a boy or girl!
cherry / 197 posts
@KT326: @KayKay: I didn't do any of the screenings either. Just counting the days till my anatomy scan. I'm due the latest of anyone so I still have 7 weeks to wait!
cherry / 101 posts
@GreenThumb: Congrats! I'm in the opposite boat this time, girl after a boy! I'm totally jealous of your hand me downs! There are none coming in my way. I'm going to be hitting up the consignment sales around here.

@GreenThumb: a world that I have yet to grasp...Also, toys and tv shows for boys can go in that category.
pear / 1787 posts
@KayKay: We also didn't do any testing other than the quad screening, which just came back normal.
@GreenThumb: Congrats on your boy!!
My anatomy scan is on July 25 and I can't wait! I'll be nervous if it's a girl; that's a whole new world for me.

@DigAPony: @tjlove54: Thanks!
For those of you who are having the opposite sex this time around, are you having any kind of shower or registering at all? I'm not having a shower, but my mom suggested registering somewhere so I don't get totally random things. I'm not sure though.
