(This is long, sorry!)

Ever since Jr. High I have had problems with severe periods (cramps, heavy periods, constant abdominal pain, ovarian cysts). A couple years ago I was going to the doctor every month for a different complaint, like pain during intercourse. My doctor told me I had many of the signs and symptoms of endometriosis, especially since it runs in my family (my mom had an emergency hysterectomy).

I went off the birth control pill, went 90 days or so with no bleeding or spotting and all the sudden I was pregnant! (Go figure).

Well, here I am at nine months post partum and my symptoms are back with a vengeance. My bleeding is so severe during my periods that I can't leave the house for two days. My cycles are sixty days long, sometimes longer. My periods are literally dehabilitating. I went to the doctor yesterday and we scheduled a pelvic ultrasound to do some "looking around" as she put it. Depending on how that goes, we will schedule a laparoscopic surgery.

I am really nervous! I know this is a chance this could all be nothing, but it makes me nervous knowing that there truly could be something wrong affecting my fertility.

These are my questions:

If you have endometriosis, what are/were your symptoms?
Did anything help you with them?
Did you have the laparoscopy done? What was it like?
Did you have trouble conceiving?
