Yes! DD1 was in her room from the 2nd night home - she just made so much noise when she slept that we couldn't sleep. She seemed to prefer being in her own room.

First night home. We tried putting him in our room, and no one was getting any sleep.

DD slept in her crib in her own room from the first night home. Everyone sleeps better because we don't hear every little squeak and movement. I think it also teaches DD that "this is where I sleep" right from the start.
Lastly, I'm a believer that despite the fact that we are now parents, DH and I still need to make time for our relationship with each other. I think maintaining our own private space of our master bedroom is an important part of that.

@Mrs.KMM: Sounds very smart! I think we will be following these philosophies when our LO is born

It was really tough for us to have DS in the nursery until he STTN. His bedroom was down a flight of stairs and having to get up and feed him and then walk back up woke me up way too much. DS also didn't like to sleep on his own. So I kept trying, but a lot of the time I'd put him down and he'd wake up 2 minutes later. It was so much more convenient for us to have him right next to me in our room.

Crib from day 1 with my first and the twins. Loved that there was never a transition we had to work through. Plus I'm a light sleeper so this was just better for us.

We did the first night home from the hospital. She's always been a great sleeper although who knows how much that has to do with it.
