Just curious if any of you bought toys for your newborn before they were even born. I've often bought toys for other peoples babies but so far havent bought anything for mine. The only things I've bought to entertain and stimulate the baby is a fisherprice projection mobile for her crib and some baby classical cds.

I didn't. I had enough things that other people bought us. Plus, she was really too little to play with toys for a while so I didn't want to waste my money. Now she's finally at the age where she plays with her toys and I still won't buy her anything because her grandparents take care of that for me.

nope. we got an activity mat as a gift and used that pretty much right away.

We got gifts so we didn't buy anything. Her favorite toy in the first months was the baby einstein bendy ball, I would put it at her feet when she was in the carseat and she would kick at it.

loved that same mobile!!!!!!! can't wait to use it for the next baby!
other than that, RJ as a newborn really did not play with anything at all.

A mobile and activity mat are good. Otherwise, they can't do much for a while.

We didn't. My sister bought one that we can use a little later. right now she spends so much time sleeping that I am not worried about getting them.

We did. I have the mobile, actually, we just sold it, but he loved it!
He had a few of the lamaze stuffed toys, he liked those a lot too, plus an activity mat, some soft blocks and a soft ball. We used to play couch soccer all the time!
