My dad was the master of the lecture. I seriously remember one time when he lectured me all night until the sun came up!
I doubt that I'll be a lecturer because I like to keep things bottled up inside until I explode.

My mom had a weird combination of yelling + going into a long lecture. Her favorite phrase of all time was, "Let me educate you....." and then she would talk for 30 minutes.
Like, "You loaded the dishwasher wrong again. You must be doing this because I haven't done a good enough job showing you how to do this the right way. Let me educate you on how to properly place the dishes...blah blah blah blah.
Her other favorite phrase was, "Be a problem solver". Like, same dishwasher scenario "Be a problem solver. Look in the dishwasher. Where is the water coming from? Where should the dishes be to get the maximum force of the water? blah blah blah blah"
She was a teacher.

Never. My parents definitely never lectured me. Their point was usually made through example or through weaving in what they wanted me to learn into regular conversation or discussion. If I did something they didn't like, I would get the "We're very disappointed and expected XYZ from you" comment. That was usually enough for me.

All. The. Time. Mostly my mom, she was a pro lecturer. It was torture sitting there trying to pay attention!

maybe it's a cultural thing? My dad was the lecturer in the family. but it didn't always come off as lecturing me or my sister. Sometimes it was "advice" and "life lessons" that he could go on and on and on and on about. My mom usually cut him off at one point.

I think my mom was the yeller/lecturer. My dad was pretty mellow, BUT when he got mad, he got maaaad.

Yes and no. But they were heavy punishers/discipliners along with lectures.
