DH took a month off when LO was born and it was so nice having him around. He was definitely ready to go back to work by the last week! :-)
He is going take another month off when Baby 2 is born.

He only took 6 days off. I wish he could have taken more but he didn't have paid time off, and since I am a SAHM it really hurt the bank account. He gets vacation/sick time now so he will use probably two weeks when we have another LO.

My husband took 2 weeks off. I wish he took more time off!

He got 3 days paid paternity leave. He could have taken vacation time, but my mom was here so we decided he should save them for when I needed help after she left.

He didn't take much time at all because she came 3 weeks early and it was March Break. He was the only guy in the office that week and had no commitments the following two weeks (expecting LO to be on time or a little late) but he had to be there since everyone was on vacation. He is also a work-a-holic and I doubt he'll take much time off when our future baby is born.

He took 2 weeks which was really nice. We don't have family around so once he went back to work I was on my own.

DH took a month off. It was nice , but because of that my mom didn't feel a need to come by at all, and she would have been a little more helpful that DH I think !

He took a week off and worked from home for a week. It was enough.... I liked being just me and lo :)

He took 2.5 weeks off, and then my mom came for a week and a half. It was great having so much help the first month!

He took 1 week off. Would have been nice to have another week but we wanted to go away later in the summer so he saved it for vacation.

Wow, a month... I'm jealous! Hubs is taking 6 days off, which is all of his vacation time. I really hope we don't have to stay in the hospital long, because I'd really hate for him to spend his whole vacation in the hospital.
ETA: He can take up to twelve weeks paternity leave and retain his position, but they would be unpaid. Since he's the primary provider, he won't be taking any unpaid leave. :(

He gets two weeks of paternity leave. He might take some vacation time as well. Going to wait and see how things are going and what he has going on with work. He is up for a promotion at work this year, so he really needs to get hours in.

LO was due the day after my husband's summer classes ended, and we both ended up with 12 weeks off. Can't imagine handling a newborn alone!

I'm not even expecting but already know that my husband will have 5 days off, max. He is crazy busy with his finance job and works at a small firm. Many guys have recently had babies- the max time anyone took off was 5 days... le sigh

The hubby runs his own business so unfortunately he won't be able to take time off because taking time off means closing up shop for the day. However, the "ungodly" work hours does have a benefit because he'll be home around 2/3 and will be able to help out!

He got six weeks paid paternity leave.

My DH plans to take two weeks off, then maybe some work from home throughout the rest of my maternity leave (his company is very flexible about work from home)

When my twins were born he took off almost two months. He did it do he could take care of our 9 month old. With our daughter he took off three weeks. I felt by three weeks my c section recovery would be ok.

you guys are all so lucky. with my first, DH could only take the day of her birth off. Everyday after, even when we went home, he could only take a half day off at the most since something big was going down at work.
with #2, he took a week off which was awesome compared to the first time. He still worked from home a little though.
He's in Big Law and the hours are killer.

DH is about to go back after being home a month. I feel truly blessed to have had him home this long. Having him do so much while I adjust and rest is also part of why I think my c-section recovery has gone so well. I'm going to miss him during the day when he goes back.

Hubs took two weeks vacation, then worked from home for two weeks, then had the next week off (his company closes the week between Xmas and new years). So he was home a total of 5 weeks. I NEEDED him for the first 3. The last two were a bonus.

Wow, a month! With DD1, he did not. With DD2, he took off one week so that he could be the one in charge of our toddler and help with that transition. I didn't really need help with the baby.

He took 3 weeks off. It was nice having him home, but my mom was much more helpful. actually, I felt a little resentful about him being home because he slept a lot (and not because he was up with the baby) and went to the gym every morning (when i wanted help). Basically it was like vacation for him (and he was using sick/paternity leave). He was allowed up to 3 months.

Yup.six wks paid! So nice to have him home! He's taking the week of my last wk for maternity off too. Because he has to take a wk long vacy in first qtr...can't wait!

DH took 4 work days off. He was antsy and guilty for being away from work on day 4. AND I had a c secton with no one else around to help...I'm a little bitter about it still :)

DH will take a week to ten days off depending on what day of the week she's born! It'll be vacation time. The owner of the company did give us $1000 when we got married so I'm wondering if they'll do something like that again...

He took 5 or 6 weeks off. Looking back now, I think he should have taken another week off, at least. He gets tons of paid paternity leave here and we decided to save them to extend our vacations. His previous company had an excellent policy with paternity leave during the first year, but we wanted to save them for a "rainy day".
If we're ever crazy enough to have another, he's taking at least 2 months off plus we're hiring some help for the first month.

Yep, he had saved up three and a half weeks of vacation at his previous job but switched jobs when I was 38 weeks pregnant. He ended up taking off only 1.5 weeks because it was unpaid but his mom was there three days past when he went back, my da came one day, and DH has all Fridays off so it wasn't bad.

DH works from home but he used to teach during the day, so he worked as much as possible after DS was born. When I went back to work at 7 weeks PP, DH became a WAHD, so he wouldn't be able to teach during the day anymore. I wanted him to finish the lessons with his kids.

Yup, he took a week, which was then extended by a few days thanks to Hurricane Sandy!

DH is taking a week off and then the second week he will be doing half-days. He gets off at 2:30pm when he works full days, though, so he will be home pretty early!

DH gets no paid time off, so we're looking at a week off. It's going to be rough but we cant afford to lose that paycheck.

He took a week and 1/2 off, although most of that was us in the NICU, so he never really got to be home with us. He had just been promoted, so there wasn't really a choice to take even longer off, next time around though he is planning on it.
