With the way my insurance/company works if the DR puts me on short term disability prior to my due date, it wouldn't "take away" any of my time off after baby is born. And I'd get paid at my regular rate.

Since I have a desk job, and am not high-risk/Pre-E/etc I just assumed I'd work until I went into labor. I've been getting questions though from family/coworkers about when is my last day and my mom suggested I talk to my DR about going out early. At first I thought there's no way they'd do that, but with some googling I see a lot of women who say that most DRs will do this at 38 weeks or so just for general pregnancy exhaustion or whatever?

My DR hasn't brought it up, but they don't know I work either, I have my 37 week appointment next week and was preparing my insurance forms this week to bring with me for my after baby leave...but I'm wondering if I should ask about this? I don't want them to think I'm a crazy person for requesting it, and I don't want them to think I'm asking them to make something up like I'm high risk or something. But wondering if I should bring it up? Again, no real complications just like every other pregnant person at this point, tired, swollen, sore back, catching colds...

Details on my leave as I understand it so far:
(After baby is born I'll get 6 weeks Short Term Disability, 2 weeks parental, 5 weeks Paid Time Off that I've saved, and then running concurrently with those options for 12 weeks FMLA [which I won't need since I'll surpass with paid leave} and 24 weeks unpaid parental leave, which I may use for 2 weeks or so, but not enough that it would matter if I went out on disability prior to my due date.)
