No way! They told us at orientation not to send them in nice clothes, at all because they often get messy and paint a ton. I'm constantly surprised at how often I see kids in really nice clothes, though. Yeah they look cute, but I can't imagine letting my 2 year old paint in a $30 shirt, so I think they're off their rockers.

Nope!! We have specific daycare clothes that I consider disposable!

Nope! I save the nicer ones for the weekend too unless he runs out of clothes during the week then as a last resort, I will.

Nope. Sometimes I feel bad when I see kids wearing super-cute ensembles to daycare, but I just can't justify it!

Yep! I put her in her cutest (though still comfortable) outfits for school. I want them to get worn & I like that all her teachers fuss over her when she gets there. (They probably would anyway but I like the compliments on her outfits.) They don't do a lot of arts & crafts at this age & she actually seems to get less food on her clothes there than she does at home!

@NeekieRose: Exactly. They outgrow clothes so fast & I feel like when I have "saved" a cute outfit she ends up wearing it just once!

My LO likes to pick her own clothes, and, for the most part & within reason, I let her. I found that if I don't offer/let her wear certain things to certain activities, then they often don't get worn at all because she doesn't pick them for "acceptable" times either.

And that is how she wore white pants to daycare on the one day that they spent all afternoon playing in the mud kitchen -- of course!

In general though, I try to stick to cotton clothes and have gotten pretty good at stain removal. Every once and again we'll have to get rid of something I really liked & thought was adorable, but I'd rather have that issue than have a bunch of cute stuff she never/hardly wears.

Generally, I send him in the same stuff I put him in on the weekends. We're not a "dress-up" family, so we're all mostly in t-shirts and jeans. My only requirement is that it'll be comfortable for nap time. So I rarely send him in jeans, but I LOVE the Carter's knit pants that look like jeans. I call them his pajama-jeans. I kind of want a pair.

I used to be particular, but now I buy their play clothes that they wear 99% of the time from a fancy kids line that is great quality and super cute and SO comfy for them, and their 'nicer' outfits are from Old Navy mostly. That way they get lots of wear from their play clothes, and I don't care if they only manage one or two wears from a fancy dress or sweater!

Yeah, I do... I realized that she wasn't getting to wear any of her cuter/nicer outfits b/c I was so anal about keeping them clean. I'd rather she wear them and possibly stain them, than have them just sit in the closet. I'm very good at removing most stains (Oxyclean is my BFF) and so far, nothing that expensive has gotten completely destroyed.

Yes, I do. I like him to get wear out of his clothes. And honestly he gets dirtier on the weekends at home. We do a lot of playing outside and I let him feed himself. He always comes home clean from daycare, I really don't know how they do it.

I buy LO a totally separate daycare wardrobe, usually consisting of the $4-$5 tops and bottoms at target. That way, if something is really stained, I don't feel bad about not fighting the oxiclean. I'll just chunk it.

I even separate them in her closet so DH doesn't put her in nice clothes accidentally.

@blackbird: ha, same. I only dress M in "nice clothes" for birthdays, holidays. She wears the same clothes at daycare and home, which consists of her staples of leggings/tshitts from target. Cute but comfy all the time is my motto.

T is only 7 months so he goes to daycare in comfy play clothes or a onesie. When he does to school he will wear nicer clothes.

I stick to play clothes for daycare from Old Navy, Target, Carters, ect. Cheap but still cute in my opinion. I save the dressier/nicer outfits for weekends. I think she still looks cute at daycare but it's definitely the mix and match stuff I buy. And I never put her in jeans at daycare, I want her to be comfy so it's leggings/jeggings for her.
