We do! Today we filled our two year-old's Easter basket with a cereal bar and a toy she already owned! Then we filled the eggs with trail mix. We won't be this cheap and sneaky forever, but she was thrilled about her Easter basket today! She got plenty of real gifts from her grandparents, so my husband and I didn't think we needed to overdo it. Does anyone else take advantage of this small window of time when our children are too young to care about gifts?

Yep. Unfortunately, DS is 5 now and totally on to it, now. But, his first Christmas and Easter were pretty lame lol.

Yep, I filled her basket with new stuff but I also included some stuffed animals from her toy box!

Yes. For Chanukah I wanted to do 8 gifts because LO is old enough to unwrap, but she isn't really old enough to care what's inside. So I kept them pretty practical and got her things she needed anyway.

I put a present that DS got for his birthday in his Easter Basket. I also put in food he would normally eat. DD (who is three) is a little more onto that, so she got something I wanted to buy for her anyways (sand toys) and only one piece of chocolate (that I assume DH will eat).
I know this won't last for long so I intend to keep it up for as long as I can!

I don't think we're going to do gifts for any holidays besides birthday. The grandparents will give him plenty, though, I'm sure.

we did buy him a couple of small toys and some puffs but I didn't go overboard for Easter or Christmas. He getds plenty of gifts from family and friends and he doesn't really care about any of it at this point (7.5 mos).

We do plan on actually getting better stuff in the future too.. but when they are soo little they have no idea.

Yep! I won't be going big for any holiday's or parties until they can remember, then? Look out! For now, let Grandparents have more fun with it if they want, otherwise, basics until it's more meaningful to them!

Haha I wish I could for sake of frugality but I can't help it! I want it all to be "special" from day one! He did only get 1-2 things for Christmas and less than $50 of gifts for his birthday since he had a nice party.
I think I spent about $50 for his Easter basket stuff. He is 13 months though so he LOVED going through it and played with his new stuff all day today. Last Easter I didn't give him an Easter basket because he was a month old

We didn't do any Xmas presents or an Easter basket. We did happen to buy her a jumparoo this weekend but not as an Easter present. She doesn't know the difference... No use spending money.

Since LO is the first grandchild on both sides, we could get her zero gifts for probably the next 10 years and she would never notice over the mountain of gifts from her grandparents!! So yeah; we definitely limit ourselves on holidays.
Then again, I went to a Janie and Jack shop a couple of days ago and dropped $$$$, so I guess it all evens out!!

Guilty! I didn't even do an Easter basket for LO. He got a new puzzle and we did an egg hunt, but I'm thinking we'll skip baskets, in part because I like to go to the sunrise Mass, and a basket would really slow us down in getting out the door.
He's not deprived, though. He knows that the sound of the UPS or FedEx truck arriving means something fun is coming. -
Yup, we're terrible about this! We didn't get her anything for her first Xmas (she was six months old) or Easter (9 months old). Wonder when she'll catch on that we're skimping

Yes, because we have too much stuff as it is and at 2, he doesn't really appreciate the basket for Easter.
