I used to use baby talk with my kid, until Mrs. Bee and I met a kid younger than Charlie that had a much larger vocabulary.

We thought he was just smarter than Charlie, but then we noticed that his parents spoke to him like he was an adult. They were using huge words, like Australopithecus and onomatopoeia. Ok maybe not that big, but they were definitely using adult talk. Meanwhile, I was telling Charlie to drink his "baba" and kissing his "booboos."

Ever since then, I've tried to talk to Charlie like an adult. Has it made a difference? I don't know... but I like to pretend that it has.

Do you use baby talk or adult talk when talking to your LO? Do you think this stuff affects speech development?
