I loved Mrs Bees post today about wooden toys. But a crunchy mom friend of mine scared me because she is always very worried about only getting high quality wood toys. She has brands she looks for that she knows uses safe paints and thins for kids to chew on and won't chip etc. at least with plastic I don't worry about paint chipping into daughters mouth and I can buy used knowing I can bleach them.

I have shyed away from buying wood toys because I don't know how to look for quality without spending a fortune at specialty shops. Any suggestions? What do you look for or avoid? Any specific brands?
