I'm thinking about building the kids a bunk bed so that they have more space to play in their rooms. Charlie is almost 7 and Olive just turned 5. My main worry is that Olive is super clumsy and always falling off things (like her current regular bed). She'd get the bottom bunk, but I'm sure she'd climb up to the top to play and I'm worried about her falling off.
Do your kids have a bunk bed? How old are they?

Yes. My bigger concern was the fan in the bedroom. I didn't trust her to be up there and not stand up or kneel and get too close to the fan.

Not yet, but our kid's room is so small we will eventually need one for more space.

We have one and I currently only have one kid. However, I don't plan to move out of the two bedroom apartment we are in until our kids are 3.5 and almost 6.

They just got one at 4.5 years old. They say kids should be 6... we wanted all three kids in the same room though...

Our 4.5 years old has one and sleeps on the bottom. He loves going on the top to play but we've had conversations about making sure to not jump or climb off the sides or he could get hurt. He's been ok so far. I think as long as you have those conversations and set the rules, they tend to follow. For some reason him and his friends love climbing up there to play!

We will need to bunk the boys as soon as they both need beds... hoping to make it to 4 and 5 years in toddler beds.

The big girls sleep in a bunk bed that's not currently bunked. The top bed with rails makes a good safe place for our too young to be out of a crib kid.
We'll bunk then when I can trust the younger one to not go up there or when I feel safe about her on the ladder. She's a big climber so now at 22 months the beds stay debunked.

We have them. The boys are 7 now but we have had them for a few years. @T.H.O.U.: we switched our ceiling fan to an Enclosed one because I was worried about that too.

This is similar to the one we had. It just had a casing around the blades. It still moves the air around but they can't play with the actual blades

Our almost 4 year old has one, and has been in it since he was 3. He's never fallen off. It's the Ikea one that can be either a lofted bed (with a floor bed on the bottom) or a canopy bed, depending on which way you set it up. DS2 will go on the floor bed, once he's out of the crib.

This post has great timing! We went to IKEA last night to get DS a big boy bed and I fell in love with the bunk bed next to the single I'd picked out! So we went home with a bunk bed for my almost 2 year old 
My brothers had bunk beds pretty young too and my mom's concession was a larger mattress on bottom in case someone rolled out of the 10 inch ladder opening.
