I have untraditional tastes when it comes to homes, and my dream kitchen is no exception. I'm not a fan of the granite counter tops and traditional cabinetry that many people love.
My ideal kitchen would include tons of windows or maybe even a glass wall to let in as much natural light as possible, and natural surfaces (wood, exposed brick, stone, etc). I also would want a large kitchen island, ideally with a sink in it.
How about you? What does your dream kitchen look like?

Whatever design includes the maximum amount of storage so I can put everything away and have crisp, clean, counter tops completely free of clutter.

Something open, with a breakfast bar/island. Stainless steel appliances and light countertops. And Room for a banquette or something.

Mine varies between my dream kitchen, and the dream kitchen for the space we have in our home now. We are limited with layout, but there are a lot of things I would change about our current kitchen if I could completely start from scratch.
I believe the kitchen is the heart of the home and if I could even design a house, I would design it based around the kitchen.

We actually just purchased a home a few weeks ago that basically has our dream kitchen:
Walk-in pantry with built-in wine cooler and wine racks; floor to ceiling shelving (where the frosted glass door is in second pic)
Granite counters
Large center island
Cabinets that can't be slammed shut (not sure what that is called, but they always close soft)
Double ovens, gas range
Hardwood floors
Catheral ceilings
Only thing is doesn't have that I would have loved to have is a huge butcher block island, but we have space to add a butcher block island onto the far side of the kitchen, or replace part of the granite with butcher block.

I also want lots of natural light and countertop space for hosting parties with an island and bar top area that spews in the dining area and easily looks into the living room. I want commercial grade appliances / sub zero fridge, a nice roomy pantry. Double oven is a must! Totally swooning over it now...

I believe @YourSilverLining has my dream kitchen! All that space! I would just go with darker cabinets and hand scraped walnut flooring.

I didn't get the dream kitchen in this house, so hopefully someday. It also doesn't have the capability to make it what I'd want:
- Open wrap-around w/an island.
- Gas Stove w/over the stove faucet.
- A big farmhouse sink.
- A walk-in pantry.
- LOVE Carrera Marble, white & grey cabinets, chrome, and stainless steel.
And while I'm dreaming, a prep sink & a beverage fridge drawer in the island would be fantastic!

Tons of storage, butcher block countertops, breakfast bar, huge island with a sink, pro stove, French door fridge, open concept and yes lots of light!
The only thing it doesn't have is a dual oven but it's a small sacrifice.

We love our kitchen now. The kitchen was what we fell in love with first when we looked at the house. It has plenty of storage and counter space, an island with a chopping block counter top and second sink, good appliances and lots of natural light.

If we ever build a house, I will totally have wood beams - that is a must! they are gorgeous... And probably the beautiful wood counters, like in the following photo (though I don't like how dark it is - love natural light too!!)

I would change that blue color; probably to yellow because I LOVE yellow.

An entire wall of black casement windows
A huge waterfall island wth white quartz. Nothing on the island. No sink, stove, etc
Excellent lighting: natural, task, and overhead led cans
Double oven
Appliance garage or hidden storage for clean clutter free counter tops
Custom drawers built for my stuff
Mix of warm wood and modern, slick surfaces ;European style)
A pizza oven (heck I'm dreaming right)

I have my dream kitchen! We bought a house, and before moving in, we completely gutted the original kitchen. I came up with the new design and picked out everything including the cabinets, countertops, appliances and backsplash. There is nothing I would change

@aprild: Love this! I love the under counter microwave. We have that now and its great. We keep cutting boards under the microwave drawer.
I also love the tile backsplash.

@aprild: I don't know how old your kids are..but do you have problems with little hands messing with or putting things in the microwave? That was always my fear with this placement. But I like how it's not in your sight line. Ours is currently built into the cabinets (it essentially takes up the bottom half of a upper cabinet) but I hate that I have to see it

I swear I once seen it in an IKEA catalogue. I'll find the pic eventually. One thing I do love is the two tone cabinets where the top are white or grey and the bottoms are navy or green.

Ok here we go! I'm not sure why, but I am loving the navy cabinets! In the first pic I want everything, including the pots hanging on the wall, because I love how rustic it looks. On the second pic I love the floor to ceiling cabinets with all the glass. I would love to have a section like that. Also nothing but drawers on the bottom. Drawers are so much easier to keep organized IMO.

Based on what I don't like about our current kitchen, the #1 thing for me is to have a lot of natural light! I would also like to have a pantry and more prep space. Our kitchen is laid out well, but it's not very big. We both love to cook so it would be nice to have more space in there.

My ideal would have one that is very simple...think completely bare countertops. The appliances would all be contained in cabinets with pop up mechanisms and integrated plugs. I don't want to have to take anything out or move it to use it, basically.
I also want a gas cooktop and convection ovens. I also want a salamander and multiple dishwasher drawers.
None of this is possible in this current house and I probably will never have a cooks kitchen, but that's okay.
