Which Dyson vaccum do you have if your home has both hard floors (wood or tile) and carpet? I just bought a handheld dyson and its the best purchase ive made in years. I now want a bigger dyson. We have a two story house with tile down stairs and carpet upstairs. I wsnt teo different vaccums for each floor but that seeks like over kill. So which do you girls have?

I have the cordless one and it's seriously the only vacuum I'll ever need. I had/have the heavy duty Dyson one too, but it's so heavy that I give up vacumming just thinking about it. With the cordless, I vacuum multiple times a day and this is with 2 kids and 1 shedding dog and 1 shedding me!
And I vacuum hardwood, rugs and tiles.

I have the cordless v8 and all the attachments. I love it! We have hardwood floors with rugs and it is so easy to switch the attachments, even my 6 year old can do it!

They don't make the exact one I have anymore (v6 Animal pro), but if you have both tile and carpet I highly recommend spending the extra money to get one with both the soft roller head and the carpet head, it really does make a difference. I think that means the v8 absolute vs the v8 animal

@snowjewelz: that’s what I was thinking about the full size vaccum - it’s heavy and bulky. I am using the little handheld cordless one multiple times a day!
@KT326: is this the “stick” model I hear about? I think it would be perfect for my downstairs. But what about upstairs that is all carpet? Do you think what you have would work for all carpet?

@MountainBaby: do you carry it up and down stairs? I want something that would be easy to use all day long. But I really think I need the big one for upstairs. We don’t bring food up there, so I don’t vaccum as much upstairs.

The rugs I have are really thick (one is a shag) and it is fantastic on them. I think it would be great on regular carpet too, just make sure you are using the carpet attachment. It comes with two roller heads, one is for carpet and one is far hard floors (plus it comes with all the smaller attachments too).

@agold: Mine is a stick too. I only have one floor so I can't speak to stairs specifically, but it's super light so I can't imagine it being a problem. I carry it all over the house.
