It was awful. The person who took over my duties is ancient and doesn't like using the computer, so she printed out EVERYTHING (entire email chains multiple times) and left it in a stack on my desk. I spent two days going through everything and shredding a small forest, plus I had to fix all the technological stuff she messed up and figure out what to do with the mailing that she messed up.

This was back in November so I'm trying to recall, but I think it was actually a pretty fun day. Nobody expected me to finish anything on my first day so no big responsibilities, but I was able to enjoy the feeling of not being responsible for LO for the first time for an entire day which was amazing, and getting to reconnect with the coworkers I'm friends with was a lot of fun. We went out to happy hour at the end of the day to celebrate, which was obviously awesome.

My first day back was fine... now DD's first day at daycare.. different story.. very sad and anxious. I had my mom watch DD my first week back and MIL watch DD my second week back so it was my third week back that DD started daycare.

@sunny: It was nuts. Oh! I also had to pump in a cold bathroom right next to the copier for the first session because my boss failed to secure a better place for me (she is kind of resistant), but my co-worker came through for me and set up a place in a supply closet that was quiet and warm.

@sunny: I was a mess my first day back, leaving LO at the daycare for the first time was hard. It takes time to fall into a good routine so hang in there
