This Friday will mark 6 weeks since my D & C. My doctor said I should get my first period at 6 weeks. I'm just wondering, when did you all get your first menstrual cycle after a D & C or MC? And how heavy/light was it compared to normal?

i got it around 4 weeks (and change) after a d&c and it was back to normal. i may have had some "old" (black) blood but overall, everything was back to normal.

I got mine at 40 days after my natural miscarriage (almost 6 weeks). It was pretty much a normal period. My next period I got 34 days later and the next 31 days later. My last cycle I was on track for 28 day cycle but got pregnant : )

My period showed up 5 weeks, 2 days post MC, and it was heavy with cramps worse than any I'd felt before. I started my second period yesterday, and the cramps are feeling better this time around.

I got my first period about 4.5 weeks post-natural miscarriage. It actually just started this past Saturday. So far the cramps are worse than usual (I seriously feel like I'm being ripped in half from the legs up), but my flow is normal.

@SDMCKNIGHT - Glad I'm not the only one! The cramps got so bad that I popped one of the Vicodin left over from my MC. I'm on my second period post MC and the first day was rough, but it's getting better.

@MAISYMAY: Yeah, I've seriously never had cramps that bad, even during the MC. Luckily, they pretty much subsided today, but at their peak anything I took for them made me nauseous.

In regards to the nausea, when I mc'd (pills) they gave me a prescription for nausea meds that I've kept, just in case. I'm sorry you were suffering so much, but I can say that it does get easier.

I'm really hoping it shows up this week. Sooner I get my period, the sooner we can start trying again.
I've never been more anxious for AF to come to town. lol

Isn't it funny how pre-MC we dread our periods more than anything because it means we didn't get our BFP, but now we are dying for periods so that we can try again!

I got my first period about 5 weeks after the D&C and although it was more than 2 years ago, I still remember it as clear as if it were yesterday. It was one of the most painful periods I had ever gotten, and I bled through a tampon AND a pad, and was left with a bloodstain on the couch to scrub out as a reminder of the miscarriage. I hope you ladies are all blessed with healthy children soon!

An update: I finally got my period today! I've never been so happy to have it before. It officially took 7 weeks and 5 days. I'm thinking me stressing about it caused it to be delayed.

Congrats on getting your period, which sounds so weird except that it means you get to try again sooner! lol.

Turns out it wasn't a period... I had spotting for one day which I thought was my period starting. I took a pregnancy test because I had a feeling and got a positive. The next day I started miscarrying.
Only one time we didn't use protection. Now I'm waiting again to have a period after a miscarriage.
I've never been more anxious for AF to come to town. lol
