First overnight away

Starting to feel like a bad mom. Our first overnight away was at 10 weeks- we had a wedding a few states away and she stayed with my inlaws for two days/one night. Over the last 2yrs 8 months we've taken probably four or five trips of different lengths that have involved her staying with them overnight, and they're about to take her for two weeks to visit family while we make adjustments to the house before baby 2 comes in June. It's going to be the longest by far we've been apart and it will be so so hard but I'm happy she has a good enough relationship with her grandparents that it's possible.

@cookiemomster: Don't feel like a bad mom! I think it's great she gets to have a close grandparent relationship, such fun memories for her!

I went away for a night when he was about 5 months old. DH and I went to a wedding for 5 nights when he was 9 months old. It was amazing. I missed him but I loved getting away! We have left him numerous times with his grandparents in the last 2 years, it is good for him and good for our marriage.

So far never! I'll be having baby number 2 next month and I am dyingggg knowing I'll be away from him. He'll be with DH but it's not the same lol I always said other than having another child, I will not sleep away from my babe until he asks to sleep over other people's houses and must only be family members until he's older!

@cookiemomster: I don't think that makes you a bad mom at all! Overnights or not it is about balance. I spent probably a total of 1.5/2 weeks away from lo1 in her first year but the rest of the time I was with her. I spend a chunk of time every month away from the kids but the rest of he time we are together. It's whatever makes your family happy!

I spent 1 night away when he was 12 months to see a friend a few hours away. Did the same thing when he was 17 months (he's 19 months now).
