About a year and a half for a night downtown for a friends birthday. Since then 3 more one nighters and a 5 night trip to Mexico for a wedding.

I recently had a 2 night work trip (3 full days away from LO because I got home late the last night) at a few months from 3. The trip was hard for a variety of reasons, and I did miss her, but honestly it was a pretty good age to go. She totally understood when I told her I was going the day before, we counted off days until I'd come home, I told her I'd bring her a present, we did a very brief FaceTime every day, and when I woke her up the morning after I got home she was super happy!

I think she was about 20 months old. We did one night at a hotel in our own city as a "staycation" and MIL stayed at our house with her.

We haven't left DS yet but he's only 3 months old.

@SweetiePie: This is making me feel better about my upcoming vacation. I'll be away from my 11 month old for 4 nights with DH and he's been super clingy and calling me mama lately so I'm kind of sick about it! I SAH too so hoping I can sleep and relax a bit!

7 months for DD1 because I was on a work trip and had no choice- she stayed with DH but it was terrible and I was not prepared for that. DD2 is 4 months and I plan to never leave her side hahaha- I haven't even gone out for the night yet.

DD was 13 months the first time I went away overnight. DH and I spent the weekend with friends. It was hard, but so nice to have time to ourselves too.

7.5 months for work, then 9.5 months for anniversary vacation, and a couple times since. It's been good for all of us!

We were away for one night when she was about 7 months old for a wedding and two nights around 9 months for our anniversary. Lots of one nights since then and 3 nights away around 22 months for our next anniversary. We have both sets of grandparevts nearby so it's not too stressful.

13 months for LO1. We went away for one night for DH's 30th bday. Now she's 4 and spends the night at my dads or grandmas house multiple times a month.

LO2 is 9.5 months and I haven't been away for more than 4-5 hours. I don't have enough pumped milk to be gone long and he's really needy anyways.

17 months. I'm on night two of a girls trip. I go home tomorrow. DH has been away twice. Once when she was 8 months and once when she was 10 months. And I've took DD to visit my mom for a couple nights when she was 11 months without him.

I did it twice when she was two. Once, we were moving cross country. I flew with her to my mom's and after a week or so left her there while I flew to new home to get things ready. She flew in with my mom 2-3 days later. It was nerve wracking for me, especially knowing she had to drive/fly with someone else too, but all the crazy move stuff kept my mind busy. And she did great, only stress was with me. Second time we did a staycation in town later that year for Or anniversary, again my mom was there. That time we were gone all weekend but only 25 min away and she was at our home so much less to worry about.

DH has been away from them a ton as he travels for work some, and since I also take the kids to visit my mom by myself at times.

I think it would actually be much harder now as she's started to completely freak out when I leave for anything (I sah now and didn't then, could be a factor). I try not to tell her I'm leaving in advance but it may get ugly when #3 comes later this year.

The hardest thing I did in this area was end up in the hospital for 4 days when #2 was 5 months old. Being away from both (they did come to see me once or twice but it was confusing for them) made me so sad but I also had a baby who wouldn't take formula and I had little supply due to illness and little freezer stash. I was so happy to come home!!

Our daughter spent the night at Lyon law's house at 12 months. My 11 year old stepson went as well, so she had a buddy. We just stayed home and relaxed, and we were away from her for about 20 hours total. I did not enjoy it.

We went away for 2 nights when she was 15 months, and she stayed with my parents. It was great to get away and have some time just the two of us. I felt much more ready that time. She also does way better with my parents and had a great time. We just went away for another weekend and she stayed with them again, at 18 months. Another positive experience.

When LO was 4.5/ 5 weeks old I spent two nights away. I drove to our new house to drop off one car and meet/ unload the moving truck. Then flew back to our old house.

My mom has taken DD (23months) for 24hrs twice in the last few months. It's amazing. She sleeps over at grandmas in a travel crib and we get to sleep in (although we've done it generally to paint or work on stuff around the house).

i feel like this makes me sound bad, but when my daughter was 6 weeks old (half way through my maternity leave) my work offered all employees plus a guest an all expenses paid long weekend in Disney (including flights, hotels, food, alcohol), so we HAD to take advantage of that! my sister watched my daughter for 2 nights and everything went perfectly. I also ended up watching her son for a long weekend when they went away for a wedding when he was also around 6 weeks old. people thought we were crazy, and i still had to pump every few hours, but at that point they're too little to actually miss you or throw tantrums. as long as they're fed, safe & happy, they're fine : )

15 months just me, 16 months both of us (for 1 night), 26 months for 2 nights. Next month we will be away for 4 nights (my girls are 3 and 10 months). It's the first time leaving the baby overnight and I am super excited! Feel a little bad for my inlaws, but mama deserves a break!

Very surprised by the answers here, not the norm in my parent circle! My first night away was when they were 10 months, for work, and thats probably the latest of my IRL parent friends. Have done it 2-3x a year since!

@Trailmix: agreed - I was about the latest of my friends at 8 months. Most people I know in real life leave kid with a grandparent about 1 weekend a month starting early, like 3-4 months.

One night at 8 months with my sister in our house to celebrate our anniversary. We were only 20 mins away so super close if anything came up and we were back the next morning. My sister works at a posh hotel and got us a great rate for a fancy room In June when Emma is 19 months my parents are coming to watch her for an entire week while we go on a big anniversary trip.

We are thinking ahead about an overnight trip for our anniversary when DD will be 8 months. I keep trying to figure out if that's too young! She'd be with grandparents and only for 1 night.
