@bees_knees: So are you ok? The bleeding has lessened a lot? Mine was normal but I know it's a blood bath for some people. Sorry, that must have freaked you out.

Total TMI post. Since having both my babes, my periods have been ridiculous. I've finally figured out the pattern - it appears that my uterus is trying to push everything out in one freakin' day. I'm talking super-plus tampax every two hours and gross clots. Must use tampon and pad at night and often wake to change both. The next day is what I used to think of as a heavy period, but is more manageable than day one. The last two days are normal.

@bees_knees: It is over quickly. There's generally no lead up light bleeding. I think the first one after DD2 was long like you're describing, but since then, it's been about 4-5 days - one of sheer hell (I feel you on having to throw underwear away), one of misery, two to three of normal.

this was totally my experience for my first pp period at 11 months...and for the subsequent two. completely the same as @bluewolverine, everything at once and then it goes back to normal or even lighter than normal. i had heard this was common for the first period, but feeling bummed that it's continued for three cycles now. it honestly impacts my ability to work on the heaviest day or two.

I have very irregular cycles, like maybe one a year since having my older son. Before that I only had a period when it was induced or I was on birth control. Because they are so infrequent, they end up being extremely heavy, huge clots, bleeding for 3+ weeks. The first time it happened I freaked out. Went to my OB and he said because I hadn't had one for awhile my lining built up and this was the aftermath. The only thing I have to be careful about is losing too much iron. So I eat extra red meat and take supplements when it happens.

My period after my first kid was pretty much the same as pre-kid. Now after my 3rd kid, they are insanely heavy the first couple days and last longer than they used to, ~8 days. It sucks.

My first pp period with my second wasn't this extreme but it was a lot, lot heavier than normal.
We were out one night and I really thought I was bleeding through my dress (fortunately i wasn't!) the next one was heavier too but it's all seemed to have gone back to normal now. Hoping yours does too!

@bees_knees: mine was light for the first couple days then sooo heavy. Super tampon and pad always. It only lasted about 5 days total I think but wish. Lots of blood. My DD was 10ish months too when I got it a couple weeks ago. Boooo.

After baby 1, it was like a murder happened in my pants. It was so awful. I had to leave early from work and drive to Target for bigger pads and I got stopped by a train and was crying because I could feel my pad filling up and I was afraid I would bleed all over my (light) skirt.

I haven't had mine yet after this baby and I'm frightened.
