Anyone want to share their favorite gender neutral kid room, specifically their bedding?
We are beginning the process of becoming licensed for foster care and need a room for up to 3 siblings age 3-21, for either boys or girls. That seems like a tall order and I keep going back to plain white, but that seems boring haha 
we want it to feel cozy.

What about a different color instead of white? Blues and grays and then depending who's staying you could easily add a few other touches to personalize it

I think I'd go with a navy geometric with aqua or yellow. PB Teen has several I like. I think white bedding layered into a cozy room would be lovely though.

I would get a cozy quilt and then sheets in colorful solids to match. I would avoid a theme and stick with colorful accents and cozy components.

I would do the woodland sheets with a green blanket and probably the white/tan quilt or orange quilt depending on your style.

I would do a print of some sort, like a madras plaid. Or a solid gray or orange. You can find tons of stuff on Overstock.

@Mrs. Lion: Yay! Another foster family! I would keep it really simple, just basics with no theme. Assuming you're not just doing super short term placements, a nice thing to do would be to invite the kids to pick out something special on their own. Maybe a comforter, a wall hanging, or a special pillow case. Something to make the room or bed their own. Foster kids never feel like they have their own space or their own stuff, so letting them pick something out that they can take with them when/if they go might be really nice.
Eta: be prepared for it to take some time for them to be willing to pick something out. "I don't care" seems to be a common answer.

@Mrs. Turtle: I was going to suggest that but obviously don't have experience so I'm glad you suggested it.
I'd keep it simple like grays or something and let each child pick out a comforter and something to hang when they are ready.
So have basics but let them personalize if they wish.
PS: what a beautiful thing you're doing. I am in awe of foster parents!

I would focus on comfort. When I was growing up we had a lot of moves and my brother and I always found a lot of comfort in really cozy bedding. Soft cotton or jersey sheets in solid calm colors or with stars or dots. Plush/minky blankets and fluffy pillows. Then I would have each child pick a throw blanket or lovey in whatever print or character they want, a stuffed animal friend, and maybe even a nightlight of their choice. That way if they have to move on they can take it with them and feel like it's theirs. I also think furniture in natural wood colors is more warm and it's neutral.
I personally vote against gray because I feel like it's has an institutional/cement vibe. I would do ocean colors like cream blue khaki teal and light greens, like sea foam. It can easily be girly with mermaids or boyish with ocean animals.

@Mrs. Turtle: jumping off that, a name canvas could be a fun way to add color and then when/if they move along, they can take it with them and it's a reminder of their time with you.
And they're relatively easy to make, just requires a trip to the art store!

Yes! I love these ideas we were hoping to keep the bedding neutral and then let each kid pick a stuffed animal and throw blanket for their own bed. And im going to put empty frames on the wall and let them help me pick out printable prints and/or frame their artwork to decorate the walls. I love the name canvas idea
